The food was average. I have had better breakfasts.
The restaurant food was excellent.
Lovely large room, quiet, comfortable, excellent. Main course dinner was very good, steak. Pudding - Eaton Mess was poor - warm and balance of ingredients was wrong, far too much cream not enough fruit, heavy.
Breakfast - poached egg was barely warm and cooked tomato was cold. No croissants on buffet table. Flush on toilet in bedroom needed attention.
the staff were great
the premises and the absence of Wi-Fi and television channels
Very friendly, helpful staff. Were given an upgrade to a suite on arrival which was very much appreciated. Hotel full of character and great position for exploring the village and many small shops, pubs and restaurants. Lovely breakfast. Would stay again.
The staff were lovely - our room was a bit dated n costs a lot but to be fair our friends room was more modern. :-)
Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful - some of the best I have ever experienced. Food was very tasty.
No hair dryer in room and bathroom was very cramped - hand basin stuffed in a tight corner
Lovely old hotel. Good friendly staff. Good breakfast
Hotel is a little tired now needs redecorating, new carpets and proper locks on bedroom doors. We could have done with a fan in the room as it was a warm night and the windows only open at the top.
The staff without exception were very friendly and helpful
For a three star hotel it was pretty shabby in appearance. Also the bedroom was lacking a few items that we take for granted these days. ie: A box of tissues Biscuits and Drinking Chocolate along with the Tea & Coffee that was provided. Our room had a badly stained carpet. There was a hole in the bed sheet and both of the doors were very squeaky ( a squirt of WD40 would have fixed this!) We were in one of the Courtyard Rooms and the light outside our door didn't work which meant that without a torch we couldn't find the key hole when we returned after dark!
The staff were friendly and helpful
The hotel is in a very bad state. Some of the furniture looks like it was rescued from a skip - stained, threadbare sofas, divans with holes and what look like cigarette burns in them, dirty plywood furniture like that from a student house. The carpets were all stained, threadbare and filthy looking and in some places held together with duct tape; the faux-wood panelling of the corridors also stained and damaged. The rooms themselves are fairly big but also in a poor state - our bathroom had loose tiles sitting by the bath, the tap handles came off the taps when turned, the lampshades were burnt and the carpet stained. The room stank of mould and mildew, the bedsheets smelt the same, the sofa in the room was so dirty and stained we didn't want to sit on it. The springs in the bed and failed so the mattress had pits into which we slid during the night so we slept terribly. The breakfast room was poor - a paltry offering of pastries and cereal in one corner of a large, dirty room, with a few sausages and eggs guarded by a single waiter. All of that for £109! We'll be staying somewhere else next time.
The beer garden was great on a sunny day. The car parking was great . The location was great. Our daughters room in the main building was spacious. The staff did their best in difficult circumstances. This hotel could do with a visit from The Hotel Inspector to give it a shake up !
Our room was in the courtyard and the room smelt damp. The carpet was filthy . The hot tap on the basin spun around when you turned it on so the spout hit the wall. The wifi was non existent even after the hub was reset several times . The rooms were extremely hard to lock, you had to press the button on the inside and pull the door shut ! In fact, overall security would benefit from a review. The stairs carpet in the main building is loose on the treads and frayed in some areas. The bar area needs a make over; some of the chair fabric is very grubby. While the staff were helpful and courteous they were very stretched; at one point there was one person managing a busy and under-stocked bar. The single member of staff serving breakfast was similarly over- stretched. This hotel has had a lot of money spent on it in the past but is now looking very tired which is a shame given the potential.
Charming, helpful receptionist. Given a big, comfortable room although I was travelling solo. Easy parking. in central location.
Good cooked breakfast was served with a bit of lettuce, for some reason
bed was clean
room had to payed before we entered and on getting in the room I can see why. It wanted decorating in 1980 and still has not been touched. I slammed the door when we first entered and a piece of the wall fell out. Carpet had threads all over the ends. There were Black marks on the ceiling from the lights Ab black mark up the center of the radiator. The light shades chard and a possible fire hazard.the inside of the windows were black the room had not been cleaned. the Sofa was ripped. I have told everyone I have spoken to not to stay in this Hotel. It makes a Premier travel lodge look 5 star
Staff very efficient, great value.
the floor carpets are very tired, and the stair carpet were torn in places.
Handy for airport and download festival.
Bit tired and out of date, put in annex.not really boutique .
Friendly staff , good clean room etc, close enough to EMA
we booked this room for the download festival. it gave us everything we needed! the staff were very friendly, the room, (17) was really quiet, with a garden view. the shower was always hot and the beds were really comfortable!
its a nice old building but the décor is tired. our room smelt a bit damp but was really clean.
Location of hotel and the friendliness of the staff.
King sized bed was two beds put together - uncomfortable with double seam down the middle. Inability to open any windows on a scorching hot day. Roll top bath was balanced on pieces of tile to even up the uneven length of the feet - contravening H&S. Badly worn stair carpet - even on the risers where there are bare threads - dangerous and contravenes H&S On exiting the bedroom the housekeeping staff had placed all their requirements for the day on the landing! Restaurant - walls greasy and dirty. Breakfast - Cold plates for so called hot breakfast which in itself was very poor in quality. Tea was served from a flask which was only lukewarm - I would at least have expected a pot of tea..... Table laid appropriately but butter had been placed on a slate and left open to the elements and had gone greasy due to the heat of the day and there was no knowing how long it had been on the table The what were once beautiful gardens have just been left to become overgrown and seemingly totally neglected - more ivy than anything else. Certainly not the hotel it used to be and sadly not worth of 3 stars - in its current state I doubt it would be worth 1 star. Grossly expensive for the state of the hotel.
staff helpful and friendly great room
could only open two windows as was too hot
The journey home from this hotel!
The courtyard bedroom that we were allocated. Broken lock on the main door to these bedrooms, 3 washing machines and an old chair in the courtyard. Décor appalling and in need of a complete revamp. Not very comfortable at all. Will not be going back.
The large rooms and quirky facilities
Lack of plug sockets in the room and WIFI didn't work
Staff very Helpful before stay when had questions and during stay.
Late sign in, enough parking, easy to find
Very near download festival.
