Pool and jacuzzi

On our way from Stansted to Gatwick this hotel was in the right location for us and was one of the few which had free rooms for the Saturday- Sunday night we needed. I especially thought we would enjoy the luxury of the indoors swimming pool and whirlpool bath. For this we were ready to pay the rather high price for a stay in a twin room with breakfast.

When we read the information for the guests, we found that we couldn't use the swimming pool and whirlpool bath as we had exspected, because it is closed from Saturday 8.00 pm until Sunday 12.00 am. We enjoyed our stay anyway, but were disappointed, because we couldn't have the luxury we had hoped and paid for.

Pool and soft mattress.

Tea/coffee making in low drawer and no socket close for kettle. No towels for pool had to go to reception. Items of food on menu not available.

The staff were very friendly. Reception was good, and the bar and restaurant staff were very helpful at all times. The food was very good. For the price it was good in these aspects, and although we didnt use it, it was nice to have access to a swimming pool.The leisure areas were modern, light and airy.Nice to have tea, etc and also bottled water.

I found our room was very dark with inadequate lightening to read in bed. It wasnt easy to see to unpack. Needs brighter lightening in my view.The lampshades were black, and with the low wattage bulbs I couldnt see very well.The bathroom was very small, adequate, but certainly needed refurbishment. Paintwork scuffed, and side of the bath old and in need of renewal.The pillows were very hard, and the bed was OK but not very comfortable.The corridor looked as if it needed painting and the carpets renewing. Very old looking. The difference between the foyer and rooms was striking. It was like going back in time.

Nothing one the worst hotel experience I have ever had.

On arrival room changed from the one originally allocated with no reason given. Woken at midnight by terrible noise coming from the ceiling area over the room door (this noise was extremely loud and you could not possibly sleep through it)Contacted the night staff who stated that there was no other room available. Noise stopped. Again at 3.30am noise started again and I again contacted the desk to be told that I would have to put up with the noise until 7am when the duty manager would arive. I insisted that the duty manager be contacted. He contacted me and aranged for a move to another room. On his arrival with the room key to the new room (which we were told we could only sleep in as it had a faulty bathroom) the night porter who has worked at the hotel for a number of years stated that they were constantly receiving complaints about this noise in this room. I think that the people who had been in the room the previous night had complained and had been moved to another room and as the hotel was full they put us into it fully knowing the problem that exists. I am totaly discusted and am considering taking further action as our weekend was ruined and as I am not in the best of health and cannot cope or expect to be moving rooms in the middle of the night. If you as a company can assist me to get some satisfaction from this hotel I would be extremely grateful. They say that they are not going to charge us for the room but have not made any attempt as yet to compensate us or a totaly ruined weekend. I feel as a gesture of good will they should offer us a free stay and I did state this to the manager who said he would talk to his superior about this.

We were attending a wedding nd it was convenient to reception location

There was a smell of cigerette smoke in the room probably due to age of furnishings rooms would benefit from touch up.

Plenty of parking provision,, friendly staff, a very generous and well-cooked breakfast...

I could not plug in my hair drier and see myself in a mirror at the same time. The operation of the shower was confusing.

Peaceful location

Pleasant, friendly, comfortable, good food.

Very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.

Both sets of towels not put out but found second set after call to reception.

The hotel has character. Efficient and friendly staff

Odd mixture of old wooden beams in the restaurant and stainless steel and glass in the bar.

The bedroom was very light on power points and the single one available was tucked under a mirror so I couldn't plug my phone charger in.
