Dornoch Castle Hotel  

We had room 1 on 2nd floor with views of beautiful garden. No lift as once Bishops residence. Amazing golf course on sea nearby. Lovely stone houses in town which is near Glenmorangie distillery - worth a tour - 2 pm weekdays. Wi Fi in lounge. Easy car parking in courtyard. Good shopping in old jail just up road.

The hotel was comfortable and the staff was nice.

It's an old hotel and the price is too high for this.

Excellent location. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom clean. The garden area is lovely in good weather, I only wished we had more time to spend in the hotel.

The room was rather hot as it faced the sun - perhaps a fan would have helped (I don't imagine that is a problem for more than a few weeks in the year!). No fridge. The carpet in the hallway leading to the room was badly stained. Some people may be put off with the Reception area being the in the public bar - if you have a confidential request to make of staff or if you have children perhaps this is not the ideal place for Reception.

The hotel was only alright, we paid £175.00 per night for 5 nights bed and breakfast, yet there were far better deals offered which we enquired about but the hotel management decided to charge us full rate, dissappointing. The rooms were dated and not very well cleaned. All in all unfortunetely just alright, not worth the money.

We stayed in the Hayloft and found this very good for a self catering holiday. It was situated close to the beach, castle and golf course.

Friendliness of staff and food

Poor standard of single room plus I was discouraged from using amex card although the hotel does accept amex

Friendly staff, good sized single room, comfy bed, brilliant food.

Was disappointed a breakfast I ordered egg, sausage and mushroom (instead of full Scottish) and only got one of each and a small amount of mushroom, basically they just left off the other stuff. Ended up quite hungry!

Les commentaires faits dans les Guides ( Lovely planet ...) sont trés supérieurs à la réalité . Les chambres ne sont pas du tout comme celles présentées sur le site Internet ;

La gentillesse du personnel, la qualité de la nourriture, la variété des whiskies sont des éléments favorables

L’exiguïté des rangements qui ne permettent pas de faire sécher les vêtements (il arrive qu'il pleuve en Ecosse) , la petite taille de la chambre qui rend la mobilité pénible sont des points qui gâchent la qualité du séjour

Hotelmitarbeiter waren freundlich

Zimmer sind veraltet. Einrichtung über seiner Zeit (Betten wacklig, Matratzen zum Teil ausgelegen). Die Sauberkeit bei den Tüchern liess zu wünschen übrig, auszuwechselnde Tücher wurden wieder aufgehängt. Preis- Leistungsverhältnis daher nicht erfüllt.
