The situation was perfect, the staff were very courteous and helpful and we had a most enjoyable and relaxing stay. The bed almost spoiled our stay - it was very soft and extremely "wobbly" - when one turned over, the other one was shaken! Consequently the nights were not restful.

The staff were polite and friendly, most of the character of the castle was still intact. It was clean with some very nice touches added, beyond expectation for the cost of the stay. It made a very nice central point of origin for local points of interest. A very enjoyable mini break. Breakfast was not as good as was expected, the full Scottish was identical to a full English. Was expecting a few differences.

It is obviously old, but has been updated to be luxuriously comfortable. It has a superb setting, knowledgable and friendly staff, and memorably excellent cuisine. It is, if not unique, then in a small and exclusive club: high standards in a small and rural location. I have no adverse comments....except that it is so far away from where I now live.

Bar/reception area lovely with the large open fire. Staff very freindly and all brittish. Room comfortable. Getting a free upgrade was fantastic! Decor was a little tired. Food choice was not large and quality did not match cost. It all threatened to be good at first glance but failed to deliver.

Excellent location. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom clean. The garden area is lovely in good weather, I only wished we had more time to spend in the hotel. The room was rather hot as it faced the sun - perhaps a fan would have helped (I don't imagine that is a problem for more than a few weeks in the year!). No fridge. The carpet in the hallway leading to the room was badly stained. Some people may be put off with the Reception area being the in the public bar - if you have a confidential request to make of staff or if you have children perhaps this is not the ideal place for Reception.

The hotel was only alright, we paid £175.00 per night for 5 nights bed and breakfast, yet there were far better deals offered which we enquired about but the hotel management decided to charge us full rate, dissappointing. The rooms were dated and not very well cleaned. All in all unfortunetely just alright, not worth the money.

Nulla .....
