Dorset Villa's location is absolutely fantastic. Only 5-10 minute walk away from town centre, and we only paid £50 for 2 people for a night including breakfast! Despite the negative reviews, I think as a B&B the beds were very comfortable and the host was quite friendly.
The rooms were slightly old, a few dusty spots but did not bother us at all and did not affect our stay in any way.
The breakfast was good, as was the location and price.
The room was in a poor state. It was a bit dusty with old and worn fixtures that made it look a little scruffy.
Cheap, great location, good breakfast, helpful staff
The hotel is quite grotty and could do with a good makeover. The room was also really hot and stuffy.
Breakfast - yummy Location - everything walkable Price - great value
Nothing not to like
Location was perfect and the owner was happy for us to leave our car the next day for a few hours which saved is having to find somewhere to park.
Everything was smooth and easy and perfect! Room was better than expected with a courtyard.
Staff were lovely. Short walk from the centre.
Shower was a bit unpleasant- we had the private bathroom seperate to the room. Had to sit on the floor of bath to use the shower as lead wasn't long enough to stand up and didn't fix into wall.
We were staying the top floor room, which is quiet big and the two double rooms are very comfortable, we all have a good rest, and the most wonderful part is kindful, friendly and allegent host. I would like to go back again if i visit Bath next time.
we arrived to a cold welcome asked about parking and was on a first come basis so had to park in large car park around the back which cost £8.50,so then had to walk to place with all the bags not good. The room well were shall I start the bed was hard nothing matched,i think the last time it was cleaned properly was when the Romans were there, only three of everything ,tea, coffee, milk, and A packet of biscuits, the tv was so small it blended into the background, one good point was that it was close to the Forum that was that!!!!!!.Shower head all cracked,my husband tried to have a shower but no hot water not good as my husband is ill not good at all,so breakfast ha ha the cups had dust on the top of them ,my husbands cutlery was stuck to the table youghurts not in a chiller just in a basket, the cooked breakfast 2 small overcooked sausages 2 muchrooms cut up 2 rashers of bacon a fried egg and 1 whole tomatoe out of a can that's ya breakfast no beans, complete again with plastic flowers on the tables covered in dust, cobwebs on the windows we was still hungry so had a maccy ds afterwards. When we came to pay and imformed the owner that we wasn't happy he wasn't really interested in the comments ,just wanted us to pay up.Bath is a beautiful place, but stopping there ruined it,will book travel lodge next time as 1000% cleaner and normally free parking.
Owners were very sweet people, room and bath was much bigger than expected. Free breakfast was excellent! Not a bad walk to the city centre either.
Only two parking spaces, if you don't get lucky it's £16 a night!
The breakfast was very good. Also the location is very good I recommend to go to Sotto sotto for dinner
The bed was not very comfy Also we found some dust in the bedside lamp
Cheap and cheerful, good location. A bed for the night which is all we were after.
Only negative point is the bed cover had a stain on it.
Excellent location, comfortable room, lovely breakfast, friendly staff
Slightly uncomfortable bed
it was good
bit iffy on parking large pay and display if all two D/V are taken £8.50 but it's vague on how it works at a glance I would have to re load the meter at 01.50hrs AM that is max of 12 hours max parking however it doesn't work out that way ?????
Cosiness, quiet, reasonable sized rooms. Tea and coffee in the room! It was just easy and uncomplicated.
Maybe could do with a slight update, although the whole atmosphere does contribute to the cosy status.
Ideally located and everywhere in Bath was within walking distance, which was great. Traditional B & B, with friendly, welcoming service. Although on the B & B is on the main road, we had a quiet room, facing the back.
As the double rooms were not available when we booked, we got the twin room, which was disappointing. Traditional B & B.
The distance from B&B to the sites we wanted to visit and the fact that for a small amount of money provided me with secure parking.
Free wi fi. Location . Breakfast was ok. Clean sheets .
After arriving at The Dorset Villa B&B I was Stood ringing the doorbell, so telephoned the owner only to be told no point in ringing that it don't work!! after being given the door code stood in hallway waiting and waiting so telephoned the owner again to be told no I'm not there, your key is in the door!! we had 2 rooms and they were both filthy and in need of a serious update. Couldn't sleep because the light shining outside shone straight up to our window and was on all night!!! the same light was dangerous as when we went to go out at 7-30 pm you couldn't see the top step as was blinded by the light!!! owners need a serious lesson in customer service . We requested a ground floor room as my disabled father has trouble with the stairs but this didn't happen, also the bathroom window in my parents room was taped up with tape as the window had been cracked!!!!!. love Bath as a City but will never ever return to this B&B EVER again!!!!
The Dorset Villa was the only B&B which would take a booking for one night only over a weekend in Bath. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. The location is very handy for walking to the sights in Bath and having two car parking spaces was really helpful.
The decor is old-fashioned but not offensively so. In fact, it was a bit like staying with your granny - and that is not necessarily a bad thing! It had more to recommend it than a soulless hotel chain's rooms. Maybe it's a wee bit expensive for what it is but we struggled to find rooms for 7 people for one night.
The breakfast .and near to the gig we were attending.the sheets were clean
.the decor was Solo dull.needed a jolly good clean. Loo totally stained.cobwebs on the walls.bedside lampshades old and ripped.dirty skirting boards. Needed blackout curtains as right by a streetlight.etc.
The location was good and the owner very friendly. Comfortable enough for a one night stay. full English breakfast cooked freshly which made a pleasant change to usual hotel stays!
The decor is very tired and outdated and needs a bit of a refresh. It felt as though a minimum had been spent on furnishings and decor. Certainly no imagination. Short curtains over French windows?
Easy check in facility Own bathroom Full English Breakfast Price
Lack of proper shower fitting Bath towels rather small Bathroom shower screen mucky and bathroom generally in need of a paint Bedroom rather stuffy but too noisy to open window
Owners were lovely and very helpful, very accommodating.
The politeness of the Staff
Tightness of the car park behind, but nothing to complain about!
Owner was very friendly and helpful, near to town centre.
General decoration and cleanliness, nobody there on arrival and a delay before being able to contact the owner and get into our room. This was post 1.00pm.
