Everything except beer prices are a bit high !!
No hot water for a shower
Courteous and friendly staff with good pub food.
receptionist Mike was nice and helpful internet included room with sea view maid service was good
could use proper cleaning of carpets and walls to remove stains breakfast a bit early for a holiday (8 to 9:30), if you are late (9:45) then too late for any breakfast.
The hospitality & the food
We were in room 4 and liked the view from the windows. It was clean and the bed comfortable with clean bed linen. It was cleaned every day and there was tea/coffee available, also bottled water. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was pub grub but very acceptable. The breakfast that was included in the price of the accomodation was very good. The hotel was on the front so we could walk on the promanade with ease. There was a small flat screen television so my wife did not miss her favoutite television programme.
The room was unfortunately very tired and needed a little TLC this also included the ensuite. The parking was very difficult to obtain outside the hotel and the council parking had to be paid for until 6:00pm. There was only one very tired but comfortable chair in the room and my wife and I had to toss a coin as to who sat in it. Would have been nicer with two chairs as it was a double room.
The huge bed and bath tub
All features O K without being spectacular
Rather a lot of stairs! Otherwise no real complaints
Very friendly and clean rooms
We stayed in Room 8 and had a spectacular view of the Dovey estuary. Leaving the Inn we were on the shoreline in minutes, The room itself was spacious and the bed large and comfortable. And there was free WiFi to play your own music. Stayed 2 nights and ate in the bar on both occasions in the evening. The food was very reasonably priced, good quality and the service attentive. Breakfasts were good too, and freshly cooked. Staff overall were very courteous and carried luggage up to the room on arrival, Overall very good indeed.
Only one negative comment, and that is the fact the sea facing wall in both bedroom and barthroom needed some redecoration in places, maybe caused by being battered by sea spray in winter. But not unusual in sea front inns. Certainly wouldn't put me off staying again.
Room 7 (we were offered room 8 eight with its bigger window, but the bath was the key!); staff; reasonably priced food; location.
some food descriptions did not describe fully what was actually on the plate. Very minor issues which did not spoil the meal. The 2 steaks on Tuesday were perfect, just as we'd oredered
Nice clean friendly hotel. Certainly was a room with a view, it was beautiful looking across the estuary. Very good breakfast Would like to stay here again
Had to use public car park down the road ( but that isn't really a complaint)
Good sized room with tea/coffee making, well furnished, plenty of hot water, comfortable beds, good lighting, friendly service, excellent breakfast.
Noisy flush. So not a big deal!
Bed room on front over looking the sea which was good but the noise from the road through the night was not good.
Good location and spacious and comfortable room
Lack of off road parking
Beautiful large bed
Mattress for me was too hard
The staff were great, nothing was too much trouble,Joseph and Ann in particular were most obliging. General surrounds were charmingly olde worlde. Our room was well appointed and the twin beds were extremely comfortable. 'unusually' I slept very well and to wake up to such a magnificent panarama was pure magic The food throughout our 3 night stay was 1st rate, although on our first night we made a mistake in ordering the Fishermens' Platter. It was an excellent meal (aptly named) but the quantity of food was overwhelming and my wife and were unable to clear our plates. May I suggest the same dish but with smaller portions!! we'll certainly be returning next year. Delightful place. The Dovey Inn should be a Three Star at least!!
Just one minor irritation: The noise from bellow our room 5, made It difficult to get off to sleep initially but once you got used to it we were 'away with the fairies' Heavy trucks passing were also a nuisance.
View from room 4 is superb. Comfortable twin beds, loads of drawer space. Tea, coffee and water much appreciated. Good quality biscuits. Standard pub grub - nothing special. MUCH improved since our last visit 5 years ago.
Kettle lead is too short to safely reach the nearest power socket. Some cracked tiles in bathroom with loose grouting. Toilet roll holder in daft position.
Staff are very obliging Great pub in a great Village
Meals below standard (salad consists of iceberg lettuce Cheap steak tough Only ate one night out of 6 & that was enough
Clean beaches, beautiful landscape... some good walks... and an indian that does fantastic food!
Location! Good food. Lovely view.
Green nightlight in room was annoying. No lift.
Excellent room and view.
Reserved a table for 20:00 had to wait 90 mins for food. Complained to staff and told walk ins had priority.
The breakfast was good, also the pub food,
The pub looks very tied, if i was to walk in from the street, i would have walked out again.
breakfast not started until 8am not very friendly staff you had to pay on check in before you had seen your room. room door rattled all night, did not shut properly
Loved the room; the view was pretty amazing, the room spacious and the bed large and comfortable. The staff were friendly and sorted out problems quickly.
We specifically requested a room with a bath and the request was ignored. The room was clean and well appointed but the TV was hanging crooked and filler inserted into a hole hadn't been sanded back - just small irritants really. The breakfast was fine with a veggie option but I had to send my dinner back as it was barely warm, and the fish very over-fried (a contradiction I know). The manager was very apologetic and refunded the price of my meal straight away which was appreciated.
Every year my mum and I set off for a treat near my birthday, we both love walking and the sea, wow great place to visit, dovey inn was right in the heart of the town, friendly large rooms and very comfortable. Excellent stay thank you
