After reading some of the previous reviews we were a bit dubious about booking this hotel and we're so glad that we went ahead and booked anyway! The room was spacious and spotless, staff were courteous and efficient and breakfast was excellent - served by a very pleasant waiter. One of the best hotel gyms I have seen and spa facilites looked excellent. Unfortunately we didn't have time to sample the wet side, but we will be back and we will certainly make full use of the spa next time. The hotel is very close to all the attractions in Knaresborough and also just a short drive from Harrogate and the Dales. Fantastic value for money - would recommend without question.

The bed and bed coverings I found to be uncomfortable and a lot of traffic noise coming through the old wooden 'sash' style windows.

The location near to my business that week. The food and wines were very good. The room and bed were small, no house keeping on first day of stay, very poor selection of beers.

Dinner was nice, also it was good to have a workout room with lots of equipment. Room was spacious. Bed was OK. Pillows were nasty little thin things, and throw pillows were old. Window had no screen, so bugs could fly in when the window was open.

Nothing Room was very poor. Looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in years. The brown nylon duvet covers were the poorest I've ever seen in a hotel old, worn and stained. It was raining in the morning outside and we new this as there was water dripping through the roof in the hall outside our room door.

Good location with easy access to Harrogate. Our accommodation was dated, the decor was tired, there were no curtains and one of the venetian blinds was broken.Being above the kitchen there was intrusive noise both early in the morning and late at night. Breakfast was very ordinary,in particular, the continental choice was limited.Staff with the exception of the receptionist were lacklustre and housekeeping was atrocious. All in all very poor value for money.

Only stayed one night and was out for most of it, the look of the general hotel was nice and comfortable the bar was cosy and welcome looking (but I didn't get a chance to visit it). My room was very small and very tired , it could have done with an up date, the shower ran off the taps but was was warm and for my needs and for one night it was fine.

The main areas downstairs were large, clean and comfortable. Location is fantastic in this lovely town. The building itself is attractive and seems a lot more 'genuine' than other chain hotels Frankly the bed was quite uncomfortable. I also found the bathroom facilities a little shabby; shower lacked decent power etc.

Hotel is in ideal spot for visiting the sights around Knaresborough. Part of the hotel is in need of up dating. First offered a superior room in older part of hotel. very disappointing then moved to newer part of hotel this was far better.

The location was very convenient for Harrogate and Mother Shipton's cave. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Wonderful swimming, sauna and steam room in Spa. Two of our three bedrooms were awful. Eighties bathroom, tiles, shower and fittings. No heating when we arrived in the snow. Room not properly cleaned and bedcover just pulled up rather than made. No light bulb in bedside light (asked for it to be replaced).Blind broken.Bed oid.
