I was made to feel very welcome and 'at home' in this beautiful home and surroundings. Excellent breakfast.
Show cubicle in bedroom not ideal but it's a compromise when bringing period accommodation up to date in terms of facilities.
Good staff, good breakfast, clean, welcoming
Decor is a bit dated, but some people like that.
Beautiful house, lovely location right on the Downs. Breakfast menu is extensive and food presented most professionally. Host & hostess were most helpful. Great to be able to park on site.
Wifi is available but no space or light to work in the room. Bed was far too soft for me! And although a lovely location for a relaxing break, not that good for needing to access the city centre to get to work on time.
Good breakfast, clean room, large bathroom
Bedroom was very small, hard to maneuver in. Bathroom was separate and down the hall.
The staff care was excellent. Very personable and helpful. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice if menu. A great location. Lovely gardens.
The bed was very soft and uncomfortable for us. This meant sleep was not ideal.
One of the best BnB's I have stayed in.Lovely breakfast - I had smoked salmon. Also great selection of homemade jams. Spacious room with comfortable beds. Gorgeous view overlooking the Downs.
The location and garden is lovely
The place is nearly impossible to find without phoning for directions at least twice. There is no signage to help travellers. We cruised around for nearly an hour looking for it and actually went by at least three times, as well as going into two other driveways in our efforts.
Food was good and hosts were accomodating. Very pleasant stay.
The warmest of all welcomes. Excellent breakfast
Bathroom not ensuite but along a corridor. All very tired. A step down just outside the bedroom door - dangerous, especially when tired. No wifi in the room
Location, very welcoming staff, extremely kind, keen to help, gave good advice about local amenities printed out 2 sets of directions to my proposed destination en route home. Room very comfortable, lovely touches, pot of marmalade to take away etc Superb hostess.
only slight criticism shower cubicle not large (easily large enough for me!) but worked well.
Breakfast was amazing.
General cleanliness in bedroom and shower room wasn't up to standard.
The temporary staff member deputising for the owners on holiday tried her best to help but seemed out of her depth.
Tedious old fashioned decor and distracting memorabilia of former Edwardian glories not my style, too much crockery and silver littering the breakfast table and hurried service of indifferently cooked breakfast because the chef "needed to get away". I felt oppressed by the decor and bemused by the elderly owner who resembled the butler from the Adams family.
The place is beautiful, with a peaceful garden and the breakfast was amazing, such a wide range of food and well cooked. Everything was to die for! And if you need anything, they are really helpful.
Staff mentality Comfortable room Communal feel - breakfast round a huge mahogany table, beautifully laid Fabulous breakfast like no other.
A little dusty Was given an attic room on the first day - no view (had asked for a view)
Attention to detail was excellent as was the amazing breakfast menu. Being able to read the morning papers in the elegant sitting room was a bonus as well.
At first I was apprehensive about all the guests having breakfast together round one large dining room table, but once the ice was broken it was rather more jolly than sitting separately.
Wifi was essential and booking made on the basis of advertising. On arrival told that wifi not available 'due to the weather'! Reception staff were rude both face to face and on the phone.
the ''en-suite'' bathroom the scruffy carpet floor
The whole experience, especially the breakfast.
Fabulous choice of breakfasts and delicious cooking. Tea and coffee in room, with slice of cake and a chocolate. Velour dressing gown in wardrobe, ironing board and iron and two hairdryers! Cotton wool and cotton buds, sewing kit, pain killer and even a sanitary pad! Very well provisioned for such a small room.
Not having an ensuite bathroom.
Clean comfortable and quiet
Shared table at Breakfast
Teriffice location on the Edge of the Downs near Cliffton, a wonderful old house with antique furniture in the communal areas. Lovely comfortable beds, great breakfast choices with unusual home made jams and preserves.
Nothing it was great
Right on the Downs of Bristol, beautiful area, great view, fantastic house, beautiful gardens and nice City. Lovely people running the show. A gourmet breakfast menu like nothing Ive seen before
Room décor a little dated and facilities tired, but made up for by the rest of the stay
The breakfast was wonderful with so much choice.
A superb large room, and a great breakfast. The owners were friendly and obliging.
Our bathroom was rather small.
Loved everything about this lovely B&B. Nothing else to say really! Thank you, Downs Edge.
The bathroom was separate from the bedroom, just around the corner from my bedroom, but what a beautiful bathroom! So it wasn't really a problem. (And only applied to this room, I think.)
