Visited 22 Feb for 3 nights for our Wedding Anniversary. Mark, General Manager and his Team are SUPERB! FANTASTIC Customer Service Professional, attentive but not intrusive. FABULOUS food! Luxurious room and bathroom!
Small size of the hotel. Very clean. Quiet location. Off the beaten track.
Room was cold. They knew there was an issue with the radiator being partially cold but still put us in that room
Classic Quality ,spacious clean rooms
Items we never had were listed on our bill the next morning --- mistake was dealt with promptly and without fuss
Beautiful setting & grounds. Stunning furniture & decor.
Understaffed. Poor service for lunch (had to wait 40 mins for 2 burgers, when no other guests around) Let down by small touches (crumbs on floor, tables left uncleared for long periods). For the grandness of venue, poor/non-existent flower arrangements. Poorly appointed cocktail bar.
My partner and I stayed here for a short break this month and really enjoyed it! Was great value for money. Staff were friendly, but didn't seem keen to go out their way to ensure you had an enjoyable stay- couldn't really complain though considering the price of the hotel for what you get is very reasonable. The spa was small, but a nice free extra. We could definitely recommend the hotel as it was a great base for exploring places like Alnwick and the Holy Island - thanks for a great stay!!
Staff could be a little more attentive at times e.g- just gave verbal directions to our hotel room on check-in instead of taking us to it or offering to help with bags. Also we requested wine glasses to be sent up to our room on the eve and we were told to just pick some up from the bar on our way. Fair enough for the price paid for our room, but not much going the extra mile for guests going on here!
The staff were lovely ,the room gorgeous ,the food was excellent ! We had a lovely time
quality of food in the Restaurant
the bedroom felt quite chilly
The woodwork and furniture is fantastic throughout and our standard room was well designed and equiped and very comfortable.
The biggest downside for us was that WiFi was limited to 3 public rooms and was not available in the bedrooms. That and the lack of a telephone signal made it difficult to keep in touch when we needed to. We also felt the low lighting throughout the hotel made it very dark and gloomy during the evening. The spa and pool facilites were functional but quite clinical.
Difficult to flush toilets
Spacious bedrooms, with excellent en -suite
Expensive to dine in restaurant, and not worth the money.
Made very welcome great staff
The morning room! The breakfast restaurant staff and some other staff members were really lovely and helpful and made our stay. The swimming pool was accessable. The building was lovely- light and beautifully decorated.
Communication between staff was poor. For example, we raised an issue about a noise after our first night but the message wasn't passed through. The noise was eventually fixed after a lot of talking in time for our last night: we were promised compensation by one staff member but this wasn't carried through by the other staff. My partner is a wheelchair user and parts of the hotel and gardens couldn't be reached: no- one offered to show us round except for a member of the waiting staff. Tradesmen were allowed to park in the disabled bays.
The welcome was warm and friendly and the staff extremely obliging. The room was very comfortable and spacious and it was good to have spa onsite. Food in the dining room was excellent and the staff there very good indeed. An excellent few days.
The staff are lovely. The beds are very comfortable The gardens are beautiful
The steam room was cold Too many dogs staying at this hotel Poor children's evening menu
Beautifully appointed room Excellent service from friendly staff Room service quick with excellent food
Standard of all the finishes. Cleanliness. Quality room finishes. Great breakfast Lovely pool Great value for price we paid
Wifi not available throughout hotel.
The hotel was warm, welcoming, clean and very comfortable. We were there for a wedding in December nearby and have discussed going back already.
Loved the whole experience of Doxford. The reception staff and the concierge were excellent. bedroom was spotlessly clean. Sitting areas were very relaxing.
Service in the restaurant for dinner was a little too slow,
The location of doxford hall is superb , the staff in general deliver excellent customer service , spa brilliant , restaurant very nice - a lovely beak away I would recommend to friends + revisit .
No appointments left in the spa on the day of arrival , I tried to pre book + it was my wife's birthday so a little disappointed ., so we booked up for the following day + enjoyed our treatments . Menu in restaurant more choice needed ie a simple steak / chicken etc ., needs to be available lack of choice - however service + food was very nice . Thankyou
Excellent main hotel, facilities and staff
We were upgraded to the coach-house and it was cold and the hot water was only tepid and couldn't be improved during our stay
Friendly staff, informality throughout the hotel.Food, breakfast and dinner in restaurant very good.Room comfortable, but cold until thermostat discovered.OK thereafter!!!
Parked for night under trees in main car park and following morning car bonnet completely covered in thick black bird droppings. Think a suitable warning notice should be displayed !!!
Leisure side requires a little talc Bar lacked character
