The Dragon  

The hotel is in a very nice location, the staff members were very kindly and helpful, and they allowed our dog to stay with us in the room. The rooms were clean and were able to use the small swimming pool also.

A comfortable, quiet, town centre hotel

Loved the room, the tea and coffee facilities, the sherry, the cleanliness

Lack of Internet but I assume it was due to the area

bath/shower - needed to kneel in bath to have shower and water temperature fluctuated all the time.

Fantastic food and real ales we had a great stay with very hospitable owners. A jewel on the Offers Dyke Path.

Wonderful old county town of Montgomeryshire. Excellent location, easy parking, friendly staff. The Dragon is a "one-off", being an old, partly timber-framed structure, with every room different - ranging from small, but comfortable, to "four poster". Food is excellent, often after a bit of a wait, being "cooked to order", but then, who`s in a hurry in Montgomery.

Everyone was friendly and helpful. Clean and tidy. Good food.

Over priced breakfasts. The pillows were too thin and the beds were really squeaky. Didn't sleep very well either night.

i was only there one night, arrived late, had a meal, went to bed. meal was ok, nothing to get to excited about.

staff in the bar were new, they could not even pull a good pint, got served one half full, so did other customers. room was too small. I would not bother going back.!!!

Would not describe it as a 4 star hotel. Everything looked a little tired and needed money spent on it. Food was good, but nothing to get excited about. Would not like to spend more than a few days there

Beer was not too good, local ale went off after 1 pint. Cider was even rougher than my home-made! Bedroom was a bit hot for me.

It's highly unusual layout but giving a general feeling of relaxation. Everything appeared to be very efficiently managed but without giving any impression of being hurried. Designed to give an atmosphere of comfort.

The room was very dated, the shower was a hand held device which i would have thought should not exist in a hotel room in the 21st century. te bing although clean was poor a sheet followed by a cellular blanket and abed cover this is old age and no matter what price you pay i am sure a duvet would be more suitable, i dont think i would book it again.

Blood on curtains. Plastic Glass in Bathroom not in plastic bag, and was dirty.

The Dragon is a delightful hotel in a beautiful, quiet spot. The staff are friendly and efficient. The Proprietors are very hard working and almost always present.We dined in the hotel both nights. The food was well prepared and presented - and tasty. Our room was clean and well presented, with good facilities. There was a compendium of local attractions and interesting places to see locally in the room. This we found most useful. Breakfasts were more than adequate, offering a good choice. We had cooked breakfast on both days and were well satisfied. We will surely be making another visit to the Dragon soon.

there was honestly nothing about the dragon that I didn't like!

Food was excellent. Good atmosphere in the bar. Quiet at night - no traffic noise.

En-suite needs updating. Sloping roof in the bathroom makes it extremely awkward for a man to use the toilet!

Breakfast and breakfast staff

Greasy carpets in the corridors, dated 70's decor and worst of all Filthy bedrooms (at least the two we stayed in were)- the cleaners obviously think that pushing a hoover along the centre of the carpet makes the whole thing clean.My partner found a long black hair in her bed and she had a strange feeling that it had been slept in before without changing the sheets. Does a little carafe of mediocre "sherry" make up for drawers so full of crud that you can't store anything in them or a shower with that tell-tale orange body fat deposit round the tray or a stained and cracked toilet bowl that makes you feel you might fall into the room below at certain moments? Our arrival with friends did not bode well - we have a tricksy vegetarian with us. What are the vegetarian options tonight - answer "don;t know" reading the menu it mentions Welsh cakes as a possible veggy thing. What are these? " dont know" (we are in Wales for God's sake) Can I have bottle of wine to take to our room - yes of course - get given a bottle - thanks but what about a corkscrew and some glasses? Friend from abroad calls to talk to me quoting my room number. Receptionist " don't know how to transfer you!" cuts him off and he has to ring back.Still no joy but after keeping him waiting on an international call for 5 minutes she finds someone who does know how to do it! Trouble with this place is that most of the staff is under 20 and badly trained and even more badly supervised. We were booked for 3 nights and having "spoken about the state of the rooms" with the chamber maids who were lying on the floor in the corridor on our second morning I hoped they might remedy the room cleanliness situation - no chance! That evening the sight of people being given the wrong food in the restaurant and having to wait 50 minutes for our food finally persuaded us we should not give them one more chance! .

I liked the old building, its position, the small town. Everyone was very friendly and the service was very good.

Maybe the quirky attic rooms had too many low beams!
