The location is good but it doesn't matter because Shrewsbury is a small town. The room was very uncomfortable. The hotel is very old and the furniture is old also. We asked to clean the room regular. The Internet was available just 3-5 times during 2 weeks. There was a problem with hot water.

Brilliant location. Very comfortable. High quality food, possibly the best steak we have ever tasted and the breakfast second to none. Staff eager, friendly and welcoming. Room and building FULL of Tudor (and earlier) character. Parking can be an issue. The church bells ring out all night but neither if these caused us any bother.

Location in Shrewsbury is excellent. The Teal Suite is great for 2 adults and 2 children - many hide-and-seek options plus the separate bedrooms. Food is superb. Having the self-catering was a bonus and I enjoyed the books. Fantastic if you like a bit of character rather than a modern room/building. Minor points noted which just stopped this from being a perfect 10 (e.g. sink plug wrong size, some marks on kitchen top, boiler 'grumbled' a bit noisily). Due to the historic layout of the building, sound from neighbours/stairs carries through doors/walls so not good if you are sensitive to noise.

My Wife loved the style furnitur and deoc. The open fire was lovely. The Character of the building with its un-even floors, walls and staircases were delightful. Three lights did not work in the room. The shower flooded. Th room we were in was nxt to the Church and the bells were annoying at times. Drinks were expensive, £11.00 for a small bottle beer and a small wine?

It was a well preserved 16th century's Drapers Hall. I felt like I was a time traveller to the medieval period. On the other hand, the room was modern, and spacious, which was beautifully arranged. The food at the restaurant was authentic! Plus, Nigel was very friendly. I was surprised to know that he was also a superb cook. If you'd like to spend a quiet, reluxing holiday, I recommend this hotel. I needed another trash can and a box of tissue...

Room was very comfortable and well equipped The sundry items were comprehensive. The fittings and furnishings were in keeping 16th century building whilst being very comfortable. The food was excellent. The evening dinner and morning breakfast were as good as you would find anywhere. The service was attentive, accommodating but not intrusive. Lack of parking.

An unusual issue was solved quickly and sensitively with decorum to the satisfaction of both parties. A beautiful place to stay superbly decorated and within a stones throw of the city. Superb food. Vegetarian and special diets were catered for with no fuss.

Very well priced for a lovely suite on the top floor of this 500-yr old hotel, up some splendidly wonky stairs. The room was large and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was excellent - both dinner and breakfast. The wine list is a cut above the ordinary too, with some well-priced & more obscure bottles. The location is excellent right in the middle of Shrewsbury. Perhaps the bedroom was a little tired, but it is a quibble, particularly given the price.

The food was absolutely fantastic. Gourmet would not adequately describe it; definitely worth a detour just for a meal! In fact we had 3 meals and they were stupendous. The rooms were very well equipped, and supremely comfortable. We were in the Lime Suite; we had our grown-up son with us and he had the sofa bed, still it wasn't too tight, but 2 adults would be even more comfortable.

We went for a birthday trip to enjoy the excellent restaurant. The place is old, wooden beams, and the dining room is very gracious. Menu is good as is the wine list. The dining expperience is well worth it. Breakfast was excellent too. I paid £150 for a one night stay, b&B. This was for a suite. The bedroom was so small as was the bed, that we had to use the small sitting area to get dressed, and we had little sleep. We had to ask for a toilet roll, a hair drier and there was no tea for the bedroom cuppa, only coffee. Parking is difficult too. Go in a small car. The hotel is niceley placed in the middle of the town, but as is inevitable cars are a menace. The hotel allocated a space at the back of the hotel for us, which worked but with a large car was "thread the needle" to get parked. Check the location of the car park with the hotel before you go and get your allocated space number, this will avoid facing up to the parking wardens outside!!
