Family run friendly hotel with some good points. The rooms appear to have recently been refurbished in a "travel lodge" style so basic and nothing to write home about, but the beds are comfortable. Food in the bar/restaurant at evening meal was good as was breakfast. Hotel is well used by business people and also visiting workforce and tradesmen on courses at a nearby training centre. We had a twin bedroom on 3rd floor (room 317) - we had no hot water in the early evening - not a drip from the tap! We were told that this was due to heavy useage of hot water by students returning from training course hence a low water pressure in our room. Room was cold due to radiator not working but I reckon it simply needed bleeding. Reception informed but apart from checking room out did not move us to another room or rectify the faults. We did manage to get hot water before going to bed but in the morning no water from hot tap again!

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and had all the facilities I needed. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast had plenty of variety and was well cooked. The setting of the hotel is very attractive and it has plenty of parking.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We travelled with my elderly parents who feel the cold and the staff were so helpful in making sure they had an extra heater. Also the hotel owner very kindly offered them a complimentary lunch whilst my husband and I had to go out for a couple of hours leaving them at the hotel.

This hotel was brilliant! We had a lovely large and light room with a comfortable bed and modern bathroom. The hotel was one of the cleanest I have stayed in and the staff were the friendliest ever. They couldn't have been nicer! I would definitely stay there again.

Excellent venu for a civil wedding & wedding reception. The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly throughout our 2 night stay. |It was especially nice to see that the owners were very hands-on as well. The rooms were very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and functional, The bar food menu is more than adequate and the barstaff were very friendly & helpful As a smoker it would have been nice to see a more adequate smoking area

I liked the antique furniture in the main reception room and the pot belly fire. The receptionist was friendly and helpful-the rest was awful. The website showed spacious 4 poster bedded rooms and I was very disappointed when I entered the room to find a very bare, small, cold and characterless bedroom. The carpet was stained, the white cotton quilt cover was put on inside and it had black stains in it. The bathroom was clean but very run down and tired-just like the rest of the hotel. There was fungus and mushrooms growing from the ceiling and down the wall in the hallway, the carpet had holes in it and was worn thin in the reception. The breakfast was nice but the dining room floor was dirty. The 'local' guests in the hotel were very unfriendly and looked at us like we had 2 heads making us feel very unwelcome. I would never stay in this hotel again-it was so overpriced and I feel ripped off.
