The staff were willing and able to meet our requests. The food was not good quality and not for value for money. It was standard pub grub at four star hotel prices. Lovely hotel but needs refurb in many areas. £80 would be a fairer price.

Its location was perfectly placed half way from home to destination (London to Inverness) - and was dog friendly. Reception very welcoming - Room service prompt and efficient and all of the very good restaurant menu was available to taken in the room. Having to take the dog through the restaurant to my room (The grounds were too soaking wet to allow access to room patio door access)

Great surroundings and close to m6 Hotel is out of date, with beds very uncomfortable. Too expensive for service provided. This hotel does not deserve 4 stars

We particularly liked the evening meals. Well presented, well cooked and tasty. We were traveling north and we booked and stayed a second night on our return journey south. As functions were taking place we had to walk through the function room to get to our own room (this happened on both of our visits). We could not open our patio door on our second visit, in room 20 the door had been sealed because of a previous lock breakage. As it was quite warm we would have liked to have been able to open the door.

The never-failing helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff. They gave it the feel of a small family hotel. From the moment we saw the hotel from the motorway, on top of its hill, lit up invitingly, until we left, there was a feeling of comfort. The WiFi was at best weak. Neither my daughter in her room, nor my wife and I, all with 3 different modes of access to the internet could gain access on the first night in our rooms, although we were assured that Reception was getting access. This improved on the second day, but access was a little weak.

A first class hotel, with ever attentive staff. Top quality food and service, combined with very comfortable rooms set in outstanding countryside. All in all top quality at an acceptable price.

Friendly and welcoming staff, excellent service, choice of rooms (we had 2 dogs with us), comfortable and cosy. The meal was mediocre and the duck breast extremely tough, but the staff so friendly it was impossible to complain, unusually for us!
