It's a brilliant hotel
Large, well-appointed and peaceful room with a very comfortable bed. We were given an upgrade which was unexpected but very well received.
The hotel is lovely but our room looked out over the bins. It would be a simple job to put a light roof-covering over these to disguise what is a necessary but unsightly area.
The full charm of the place
good relaxed and friendly vibe in the hotel.
access to front door from the main road - on leaving main street a small directional sign would be helpful.
Staff very helpful. Fab breakfast. The most comfortable bed!
Staff were lovely and really helpful, room was great, and so peaceful
The courtesy and helpfulness of the staff and the general atmosphere were excellent
The room was too warm and the decor very dark, making reading challenging.
I loved the bed and room service at 2am ha ha :-)
I enjoyed everything
Nothing, always relaxing here.
Staff, opulence, wine cellar and whiskey selection, warm plates in restaurant
limited dinner menu, cold food, pretentious food with no taste. No spa facility.
The hearty breakfast
Room was bit tired and dark!
We stayed for two nights in the brown brothers room. It was lovely and comfortable although a tiny bit dark but the bathroom is very light. We had our 4 month old and everyone was lovely to her and very accomodating
Room is a wee bit dark but it was handy for napping baby
The hotel has a lot of character. Room was spacious and comfortable.
Despite agreeing a late checkout, we were called on two occasions on the morning of checkout by reception staff trying to hurry us out the room. After being pressured into leaving the room early to make way for a wedding party, no apology was offered when checking out. Better customer service expected of a 5 star.
everything - I love it there !!
Stayed here for two night on New Year's Eve. We had an amazing room the bed was exceptional and the staff very friendly. Will defiantly be returning
Remote control for the lights was tempremental
Great classy hotel with excellent staff. Warm welcoming room with the most amazing bathroom ever!! Nothing was too much trouble and staff very attentive to accommodate your needs.
Bed was too hard for me and I like a firm bed!!! Also lack of fires being on, on what was a rather dismal winter's evening would have just lifted the ambience. The Bistro bar was being renovated, which although didn't bother us too much might have been better suited to our needs on this particular evening as ended up eating more than we had intended in the delightful restaurant.
Total ambience was warm and welcoming ! Beautiful building with class !
Friendly staff, beautiful historic building, comfortable and chic design, excellent food and wine.
We loved the dining experience. The tasting menu was excellent, and we hope to go back and do it again.
Internet conection was very slow.
Rooms excellent, clean relaxing with everything you require. Bar staff excellent and breakfast perfect. Will stay again
Everything! Completely blown away by the amazing room, fantastic and courteous staff, great bar and food.
Could not use bar on 3 occasions as was full. Had to wait 45 minutes for breakfast till 10.30 and were then told our check out at 11 could not be moved.
Great food Large rooms Huge bath
No pool Not in the city centre (if that's what you want)
Rooms were very good Food also good
We were kept awake with 2 dogs barking next door until well after 12.30am Breakfast was very poor as was the service We were on the second floor and found the stairs difficult and the 4 houses difficult to find our way around There did not seem to be any appearance of management, staff not very concerned or helpful
