Our stay was extremely pleasant and the staff was especially helpful, kind and courteous. We enjoyed our time there very much.
Room was excellent, decor was superb.
DVD played didn't work in colour.
Comfort of bed
No lifts - long climb to room Lack of things like shower cap, toothbrush, razor etc Unfriendliness of staff Poor menu choice - dining place not available - only bar menu available for dining in the bar - harassed to order before kitchen closed at 9pm but others being given a menu after 9.30pm?? Bar drafty
Loved the staff especially David the porter ,rooms are lovely area is fab .
It is slightly out of the biz but a taxi is only 7 to 8 pounds but well worth it .
I booked for our wedding night because our honeymoon was delayed. We were upgraded when the manager noted it was our wedding night and the staff went out their way to make our stay enjoyable with free welcome drinks at the bar on our arrival. Breakfast was excellent and we will definitely be back soon!
There was a queue for check out but the staff were very accommodating.
Room really well-equipped and well-appointed. Great shower and bath. Staff very friendly and welcoming, most helpful. Dinner excellent.
Piped music in dining room. Tea/coffee at breakfast could have been better, as could the toast (but few hotels serve decent toast).
Opulent hotel, friendly staff, gorgeous rooms/decor.
Comfortable, good amenities, helpful staff, stylish.
Breakfast wasn't included.
Lovely boutique hotel with attentive staff
Although we were given a complimentary upgrade, our room was right next to the front door and reception area - very noisy :(
Room, food and staff were excellent.
Nice room, great shower, plenty parking, be aware that nothing is free in the room!!
Tired and uncomfortable bed, overcharged for the minibar, bright light from hall shining under bedroom door.
The atmosphere and care of staff and lovely building and surroundings. During our stay we stayed in a total of 6 rooms between us, all good tho 2 were rather dark
Too dark rooms in 2 cases
The room was huge and beautiful! The staff was so helpful - they did a last mminute laundry for us and didn't even charge! This was a short stay, but I would come back in a heart-beat!
Thought it was an enjoyable experience especially the staff would go back
Some of the photographson the walls could have been better quality
A really beautifully decorated, clean room. Loved the freestanding bath tub. We had an brilliant stay here.
Location because I wanted to be in West End . Room was spacious and combined modern comfort with period features. Bathroom.
The reception. There were two reception desks and it was quite a busy time with several groups of guests arriving. The duty manager kept us waiting around 15 minutes while she discussed personal business on the phone. This was in stark contrast to the Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh we had just come from where the staff (reception, doormen, porters) provided prompt and polite service upon arrival. The situation was similar when we paid the bill. One expects better service from a 5 star hotel. We did not try the restaurant so cannot comment on the service and quality there.
The food was very nice and the room comfortable.
The customer service was appalling. I had tried to make a change to the booking to add on breakfast and they wanted to charge me for a cancellation £185!! This was supposed to be a celebration of our anniversary which turned into something of a nightmare. This included customer service staff laughing down the telephone at me! It was (I hope) sorted out after several hours of stressful phone calls with a promise that hotel would make our anniversary "special". Not sure what that was as there was no acknowledgement of it being our anniversary when we were there!! Also we were supposed to be in a superior suite but not sure how you would know that to be honest! Glass shelving in bathroom hadn't been cleaned in some time.
The location was nice as was the greeting from the concierge who was most welcoming and professional.
Breakfast was poorly managed with staff who were a little curt to say the least. The breakfast buffet area was not replenished nor regularly cleaned. Perhaps they should look more closely at what their job entails and not treat the customer as a nuisance. Overall, unimpressed and was expecting better
The staff were very attentive and the spacious rooms were great with some really good features.
We had a couple of rooms and the attention to detail in the cleaning was lacking in both. The rooms were very dark and the lighting was inadequate! Unfortunately it could have been to cover a multitude of sins, the room décor was shoddy and the furniture had rips on nearly every piece and the duvets were ripped and hanging out of the cover at the head end, the toilet seats were unacceptable for a 5* Overall disappointed in the general condition of the rooms!
Cleanliness of bathroom was 10 out of 10. Worth every penny spent, will definitely use hotel again. Couldn't ask for nicer more helpful staff. Excellent!
Would recommend some kind of door stopper etc so doors don't bang as much when they are closed.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very comfortable.
Lines need to be painted for car park spaces outside hotel so that more cars can be parked. Often could not get parked as some cars taking up too much unnecessary space.
The hotel made one feel wanted and that the customer really mattered. We also liked the fact that the dog was greeted in the same manner.
The overall helpfullness and efficiency of teh staff. Our room was excelent.
Old style charm. Near enough to the City to maybe walk, but far enough out to get away from the hustle and bustle. Dinner in the hotel is very good.
Our room overlooked the bins, but I suppose someone has too! Also it was very hot in the room.
The historic character of the buildings was not lost among the modern facilities
