One Devonshire Gardens a Hotel Du Vin  

Beautiful setting and exclusive accommodation.

The decor in our room (Besol) was tired, one of the curtain ties was hanging from the wall and there were layers of dust on the table and desk/equipment. Bath panel was mark and panel water damaged. The luxury presentation was let down by some of the disappointing aspects relating to the decor.

Friendly Hotel staff and concierge who took our case to our room, big comfortable bed and pillows, tv and iPod Dock, large Bathroom with Bath and Rain Shower, Bath Robes and lovely set of Toiletries left in the Bathroom.

The lightning in the room could be brighter - it was very dark even with the dimmer up full and I couldn't find a plug socket near a mirror for plugging my straighteners in without moving one of the lamps beside the bed to the floor.

Friendly staff who obviously enjoy working in the hotel. Decor was fabulous. Very tastefully done. Evening meal in the restaurant was superb.

(1) Poor lighting in the bedroom for my wife to put on her make-up. (2) Our main course during our evening meal took a long time to come to our table. Two other tables who came in after us received their food before us which is not what one expects. However the dinning room staff did apologise for the delay and it in no way spoilt our enjoyment of our meal.

My wife could not dry her hair in front of a mirror which for a hotel is ridiculous, especially one selling itself as five star.Our room was so dark it was impossible to read

Directions to hotel wee bit misleading

Staff very attentive to personal touch, excellent service. Room was very comfortable and luxurious and met all our expectations Whilst on our honeymoon. The food and knowledge of the bar staff and bistro staff was excellent. We will be back!

Everyone was very friendly and liked the fact that all staff were local people. The staff were professional but liked to interact which made you feel very welcome and nothing seemed to much trouble. Rooms were great, food superb, could not find any faults.

Treated like royalty from the moment we arrived. Pouring with rain. Able to park right at the entrance to the hotel. Before even leaving the car we were greeted by a member of staff with an umbrella who carried our bags to our room. Complimentary whisky on arrival. Hotel was formally 5 separate town houses owned by wealthy Glasgow merchants. The hotel now comprises all of the buildings in the prestigious location (hence, One Devonshire Gardens). The buildings are packed with period fireplaces, staircases, ceilings and huge stained glass windows. Service from all staff was friendly and excellent. Our "superior" double room was huge and had every facility, comfort and mod-con you could wish for. Food in The Bistro was sublime and staff were extremely attentive. Although "formal" dining you could dress as you please. Brilliant stay.

Our room had a (beautiful!) skylight window (with electronically operated blinds!) which, due to extremely high winds, made the room rather noisy in the night. Although bathrobes were provided there were no slippers. Probably not a hotel for young families.

One Devonshire Gardens has a special place in our hearts. We stayed in the Gaudium suite on our wedding night 11 years ago, and have chosen the same suite every year whenever we return for family events. Wether it be Christmas, Birhdays or Anniversaries, we always choose the hotel and our family like the hotel so much, they join us and stay at the hotel too. The staff, ambience and unique character of the hotel always draw us back.
