Fresh milk provided in fridge for making tea
Erratic service at both dinner and breakfast Lavatory bowl not clean round the U - bend, visible from across the bathroom
The level of service by staff at this hotel is excellent.
Staff were polite and helpful - William on check in was super nice. Hotel was clean and tidy. Food was good.
Breakfast service was poor - warm tea, frozen butter, cold toast, waitress who narrowly avoided rolling her eyes, coffee by the half cup (no pot unless you ordered tea). Plus it was £16.95 which is a lot for 4ins of haddock and two poached eggs on a hash brown. (to be fair there was also a 'country table' with cereals/fruit etc inc)
Food was fantastic!
The whole theme and atmosphere.
Staff very helpful. Overall service very good. Food was good but not excellent.
Narrow corridors, fire escape route didn't seem so clear
Lovely restaurant Lovely outside area Staff very pleasant Lovely bathroom Bed was a nice size Excellent location Nice coffee machine Excellent aircon/temperature control
Quite small corridors so quite loud at times with other guests moving about. Windows in the room were very small, room was quite dimly lit. Wish bed had been a little comfier
Had a excellent meal and finished the night off in the library where they had a band on great night
Bath and toilet need updating was clean enough but didn't do the room any favours.
The hotel is quiet and peaceful with excellent facilities and staff who really look after you
We were in a garden room rather than the main house ( which I have stayed in before ) as it was winter, we felt a little cut off from the warmth of the main building. In addition, the interior of the standard room is a little corporate and bland - I would suggest the chain tries to re-create boutique individuality in each room
Location and general facilities . Good atmosphere.
Restaurant was expensive for what was provided. Very disorganised at the checkout. Presented me with the wrong bill, twice the correct cost.
Meal in Bistro was bit of a disappointment. Very expensive for what it was and a lot of seafood items on the menu not available.
the decor the rooms the bathrooms the public rooms the restaurant
service charge added to the restaurant bill, i like to make my own decisions about tips object to it been added automatically
the food, the lovely room, attentive staff.
I liked everything
Very expensive. Cold cooked breakfast. Buffet breakfast selection very limited.
Everything was good.
Little expensive for what it is.
Reception staff and porter were extremely helpful and courteous. The room was spacious and comfortable --if a little dark.
Breakfast options were limited considering the cost.
Bar area Bat staff v attentive Ambience of bistro
Cost of room only Excessive cost of breakfast Scallops at dinner cold No free gift on my birthday weekend or "fuss" at dinner
I have stayed at the Hotel du Vin in Cambridge maybe 6 or 7 times and the staff are always very helpful and obliging
The room we were given this time had a noisy generator outside and some very noisy pipes running through a cupboard in the bathroom. The noise from the pipes in the bathroom actually made the cupboard and the wash basin vibrate. Every other time I have stayed here the room has been fine.
Comfortable beds, cosy decor.
We requested quiet room on 1st floor, got a room on ground floor beside the bar. Ordered room service, waited over an hour and it arrived cold, extremely disappointing. They did not change for food and apologised but for almost £250 it was very disappointing.
Staff were tremendously welcoming. Building is very charismatic. Quality of food (we had afternoon tea & breakfast) was excellent in lovely surroundings. Somewhat surprised to find just 1 tea bag in a large pot of tea. Food prices are high, but reflect the quality of the food and nature of the hotel. Enjoyed a superior room with 2 roll top baths and an enormous bed. Fantastic location and city.
Room and bathroom decor is looking a little tired. Rooms a little on dark side due to dark wallpaper etc. Noise from courtyard area at rear of hotel (we were awoken at 4.22 am by someone taking empty bottles out of the hotel). Some noise within the hotel from fire doors opening & closing was audible from the bed as it's head was close to the room door.
The cellar bar! A lovely hotel, with very attentive staff
Great studio room, very comfortable bed, attentive service
Ambience, decor, cosy room
Room overlooked by modern building with noisy air-con, at rear of hotel. Struggled with heating in room - required call to reception.
