the food, the lovely room, attentive staff.
I liked everything
Very expensive. Cold cooked breakfast. Buffet breakfast selection very limited.
Little expensive for what it is.
Reception staff and porter were extremely helpful and courteous. The room was spacious and comfortable --if a little dark.
Breakfast options were limited considering the cost.
Bar area Bat staff v attentive Ambience of bistro
Cost of room only Excessive cost of breakfast Scallops at dinner cold No free gift on my birthday weekend or "fuss" at dinner
I have stayed at the Hotel du Vin in Cambridge maybe 6 or 7 times and the staff are always very helpful and obliging
The room we were given this time had a noisy generator outside and some very noisy pipes running through a cupboard in the bathroom. The noise from the pipes in the bathroom actually made the cupboard and the wash basin vibrate. Every other time I have stayed here the room has been fine.
Comfortable beds, cosy decor.
We requested quiet room on 1st floor, got a room on ground floor beside the bar. Ordered room service, waited over an hour and it arrived cold, extremely disappointing. They did not change for food and apologised but for almost £250 it was very disappointing.
Staff were tremendously welcoming. Building is very charismatic. Quality of food (we had afternoon tea & breakfast) was excellent in lovely surroundings. Somewhat surprised to find just 1 tea bag in a large pot of tea. Food prices are high, but reflect the quality of the food and nature of the hotel. Enjoyed a superior room with 2 roll top baths and an enormous bed. Fantastic location and city.
Room and bathroom decor is looking a little tired. Rooms a little on dark side due to dark wallpaper etc. Noise from courtyard area at rear of hotel (we were awoken at 4.22 am by someone taking empty bottles out of the hotel). Some noise within the hotel from fire doors opening & closing was audible from the bed as it's head was close to the room door.
The cellar bar! A lovely hotel, with very attentive staff
Great studio room, very comfortable bed, attentive service
Ambience, decor, cosy room
Room overlooked by modern building with noisy air-con, at rear of hotel. Struggled with heating in room - required call to reception.
Great building and warm environment. Lovely cosy basement bar area.
Reception staff hopeless. Made an absolute meal of it. Bar staff disappointing too with a lack of product knowledge.
The hotel was perfect, friendly service, huge bed and a bathroom bigger than most bungalows!
Eat in the bistro first night, good service let down by very average food. Disappointing.
Fresh milk in the mini bar for tea and coffee, comfy bed and good bathroom. Our room at the back was free from traffic noise.
No complimentary biscuits to go with the tea and coffee. No complimentary water. when neighbouring doors were shut, they are extremely noisy, and people going through corridors with luggage also noisy - thin walls? think very pricey on the whole.
Very good and helpful staff. Excellent location.
The central booking system/number for the hotel did not make our dinner reservation - and no compensation was offered (a complimentary drink would have been nice for the inconvenience - on a Saturday night in Cambridge it is hard to find a table - went for an Indian!!)
Location. Efficient valet parking.
Room was next to a noisy boiler. It was small for the price.
The friendly girl on reception who greeted us so nicely and made us feel at home. The stylish room & lovely bathroom, comfortable bed and feather pillows. The dog bed. The lovely breakfast and wonderful staff in the bistro. Good, central location near to Browns.
The rude man on reception who kept us waiting while he chatted on the phone and never did get milk delivered to our room. Lots of lightbulbs out in the room. The loud conversation outside our room at 2am which woke us up. Door lock tricky.
The bed was very comfy and the bathroom was clean, spacious and well furnished.
Our room should have been available from 3.00pm but was unavailable until 4.20pm. Whilst we were given a complimentary drink and the staff were apologetic this was not ideal as we were leaving for an engagement at 5.15pm. Also, the room had a very disappointing view over the rear of the building and felt cramped because extra furniture was too large - and really unnecessary.
Quiet and spacious room, well appointed. Excellent, helpful and efficient staff.
Breakfast service was rather disorganised and took it longer to be served than one expects in a hotel of this quality - though the food itself was very good. Very expensive hotel, though the prices matched comparable Cambridge hotels.
Language barrier with staff made them seem grumpy and rude
Thought the hotel was over priced and the meal is the Bistro was of poor quality and well over priced.
Great atmosphere and a lovely bistro. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. All in all, a good place with a comfortable bed, great food in the Bistro du Vin and friendly service
Bed clean and comfortable
Breakfast service poor Noise from ac fans in adjacent property Towel rail and bath water dangerously hot
Hotel and staff were good reception was empty when we arrived but still had a greeting with a smile when the receptionists arrived
The bistro was massively understaffed we waited over an hour for the first course , the second was inedible the fish pie was cold ,the lamb was cold and still had a pulse after two attempts the management need to address this issue urgently
