Huge room with rolltop bath in the bedroom, walkin shower. Separate loo and sink. Lovely Miller Harris toileteries. The room was at the top of the hotel so was really quiet. Would definately consider this hotel again.

The rooms and the breakfast are both amazing and the hotel is ideally located We had to wait for one of the three rooms booked as it was still being cleaned some time after check in time and only after I complained were we offered complimentary drinks which should really have been offered immediately However the staff on reception were very helpful and polite

Everything from the greeting from the staff at the reception to the layout and the quality of the room was excellent. Hotel is in a great location and as the building was a former period university building all the rooms will all have slight variation in layout and views! For the tall.... Beware there are a few " mind your head" areas dotted around the hotel too! Minor observations would include overspray from shower finding its way onto the floor necessitating using all the bath mats to soak it up! But apart from that very little!

Had the suite - was a beautiful room, felt like you were getting the luxury you splurged for. Amazing free-standing bath, comfortable bed, nice finishing/decoration. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Loved the feel of the hotel, including the amazing wine cellar bar. Location is perfect. Didn't try the food or the bistro but looked good. Wouldn't hesitate to book this place again if I find myself in Cambridge again. The only very minor thing was the fact that the bath/shower area wasn't exactly pristine. It was clean and 'sanitary', but could have used a good scrub to get rid of some lime scale deposits around the shower and tile floor (which were dark gray, making any lime scale very obvious). Again, didn't feel like it was unsanitary or hadn't been cleaned...just wasn't pristine.

The food was not good at all, I was promised a refund as I didn't eat the main course apart from one mouthful but I had to query this when checking out the following day. Similarly they made a mistake as I had booked a dbb package and they charged me for food seperately, they did rectify both money issues but the meal really spoiled the evening.

The staff were friendly and efficient, the hotel was clean and comfortable and the decor was lovely. We are given an upgrade to a larger room on the top floor, which was lovely.

Its location and the bed, which was very comfortable. Stairs went up immediately above the bed, so staff bounding up and down at early and late hours woke me up, despite it supposedly being a superior room. "Hot" water was luke warm. Bathroom was very tired. Breakfast was at best average, service slow and not very professional. They needed twice as many people on duty on a busy Sunday morning. I do not mind at all paying top prices, but the hotel should realise that by setting very high prices, they set expectations. This is not the first time that I have been disappointed with Hotel du Vin branches, but this was the most severe disparity between the price and the value offered. I will avoid staying again.

We took our parents as a surprise 70th birthday present. It was a very quirky hotel. The bar was in the cellars and a great atmosphere. The food whilst a bit pricey was just lovely. The location of the hotel was a lovely stroll away from the city. We all agreed that is was perfect. The weather was fantastic which may have contributed to this though. Parents were in the hotel we were in the annex courtyard room. We didn't like having to walk past smokers sitting outside our room and also we could hear every word they were saying. This made us feel that we had no privacy. The room was very big but little light coming through. A shame really as the courtyard could have been part of the room which would have been lovely. We asked to be moved and booked an extra night which the staff dealt with very efficiently. The room a standard was a miniature of the other room no problem there . The window large this time letting in loads of light but overlooked a large office block. We felt like we were in a goldfish bowl as there were no blinds or net curtains to give the privacy. We had to keep the curtains closed.

The location was terrific, and the restaurant at the hotel was very, very good. The room we had felt llike it was in a basement (one small window only), and the toilet only worked intermittently (seemed like a problem with the water - once flushed once, had to wait an hour or two for it to work) - the staff seemed indifferent to getting it fixed.

Location was perfect for walking into City. Staff very friendly. Cigar shack was excellent idea and the cellar bar was nice. Breakfast was tasty and fresh to order. Both rooms (reason for both below) were good size with nice features. First room bedside lights didn't work, shower tap was broken and bed noisy. But, we complained politely and were moved to another room and this was dealt with very well.
