Check-in staff were disinterested, bordering on rude. It was as if it was a nuisance to check me in. Bathroom showing signs of rust and stains around fittings - in need of a facelift. Breakfast was poor value. The coffee was like dishwater. Overall, the standards of HdV have slipped.
Staff were excellent and even arranged a birthday cake
Tired communal areas
breakfast was poor -egg raw, sausage cold and bacon very poor quality.
Our room was very noisy with activity going on all around from 4am onwards which made it difficult to sleep!
Bed was very uncomfortable. Mattress needed to be renewed
We had a fantastic room which was very clean. Fresh milk in the fridge for the complementary tea and coffee. A nice alternative to the pots of uht you get in most places. Breakfast was excellent all made with quality produce. Overall very pleased. Thank you
Position is great. Ambiance brilliant.
Door key that could not open door. Lighting in room is meagre, don't expect to read a book. We were in a basement room, as a returnee I know other rooms are more illuminated than this. Shame, as staff unable to correct. Coffee making machine kaput! Drinks very expensive.
not a lot
the room we were given was noisy with creaking floors and ceilings which we reported to hotel staff. do not expect this when paying a high rate - hotel did gives us a 20% discount object to seeing dogs licking plates in the hotel bar area, needs to be better control over animals staying in hotels and should not be allowed in areas where guess may wish to sit and enjoy a drink etc
Usual HDV set up offers great beds, good bathrooms and sn excellent breakfast. Perfect base for Harrogate on foot.
Cross your fingers they have a car parking space...
No car spaces
Flowers ordered for room for wife's 60th birthday very poor.
We had a cellar room that was underneath the bar. Ear plugs supplied ! that tells it's own story. Wooden floor in bar area so didn't get a wink of sleep, even with headphones in! My wife's meal of Duck Shepherds Pie had bones in. Response from chef was that happens because of the way it's prepared. Should prepare it differently then!!! Won't ever stop here again!
Great room, friendly staff. Quiet considering there was a wedding going on. My husband was happy with the sky sports in the room.
Could of some with firm pillows. And a bigger breakfast selection
Staff extremely helpful
Location, parking for £10 per day. Easy to walk to the shops and restaurants. Staff good and helpful.
We have stayed at this hotel and others belonging to this group, the hotel is looking very tired and dated now, we were upgraded to a room on the ground floor, which was a mistake as we heard people in the corridor and coming past our door all the time including the night, so hence we were disturbed during the night, so little sleep, we did tell the receptionist, she didn't seem interested, we will consider using a different hotel in Harrogate on our next visit. The meal was expensive and not brilliant, although the dining room was nearly empty. Disappointed on this visit. Stephanie
Lovely hotel in Town centre location. Friendly staff, all in all a relaxing stay.
Nice location by town.
I was overcharged by £89 and even though refunded I heard no apology. Not acceptable at this level of hotel.
Comfortable room. Lovely breakfast. Staff were helpful and friendly. The discount given for the smelly room.
The smell of sewage in the room after the rain. The oil diffuser in the bedroom was empty.
Hotel Location Great Room Good Service Great Ambience
Evening meal was not good I think it is expensive @ £200 pn + Car Parking £10 per day !! Bar tarrif is expensive £13.75 for a large glass of Sauvignon !!
Location was excellent
Very poor service in the Bistro. Bad experience with parking at the front of the hotel. Another guest was very rude to me and she was the one who had parked into my space !!
Hello , the food was excellent . As was the bed !
I was disappointed with the carpet in room been worn . Shower drain blocked . In the lounge downstairs it looked shabby (paint work, leather hanging off the stairs) And no draught beer in a Yorkshire hotel !!!
Location is excellent. Room very spacious. Bed extremely comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful.
Breakfast - first morning arrived after a long wait and was cold. Returned it and although second time around was better still not hot. Omelette on second morning heavy and dull. Breakfast chef clearly a disappointment.
Young well trained and attentive staff. Good menu choices and well prepared food. Excellent location. Interesting decor.
Very little although there was poor hot water supply on final morning
