Set within a 19th-century, Grade II listed building, the American themed Smith and Western Hotel offers unique, individually decorated rooms, just a short walk from the historic Pantiles shopping...

Excellent meal, nice room with a really nice bathroom, centrally located. Overall a big well done!
I can't think of any detracting points.
Food, service and amenities
Staff were interested in their guests & appeared to make it their business to identify their names very quickly which was reassuring.
The lock to the bedroom doors is located too adjacent to handle thus you tend to trap your fingers. This occurred twice during my stay. Traveller has 2(l's)
The standard of food, both at dinner and breakfast, was excellent. The staff were friendly, and the place had an old world charm. We particularly liked the attention to detail such as the fresh milk provided in the room.
Environment, Atmosphere, Great Quality hotel.
Staff were welcoming, accommodating and our room was fabulous.
The staff were so polite and friendly. The housekeeper even knocked to check that everything was ok with my room. Great facilities. Lovely restaurant.
Goods for sale in room is a bit tasteless
Hotel location was good. Staff very friendly and breakfast was good.
£5 for a bottle of beer and £12 for some cocktails were a bit steep.
Lovely room, good food and win and friendly staff
We booked this trip quite late - attracted by discount on offer, when we checked in we were also given an upgrade. Lovely room very comfortable.
A royal reception ;-) great staff and perfect receptionist. Nice rooms too
Reception staff very helpful indeed. The room facilities were excellent.
Felt rushed by the dining room staff at both dinner and breakfast.
You can take your dog
No complementary water even in a Principal room No extra bedding only a quilt and no top sheet
Lovely hotel, a little "well to do". The staff were friendly and the hotel was clean. Good central location with parking (if you can get it)... They will charge you another £10 to secure a space!
I was hoping for tip top service when paying so much, but the room was like an ice box, with no extra blankets supplied. The sash windows look pretty, but hold in no heat! After notifying reception in the morning and sending an email at a later date (with still no response), I feel left out of pocket and cheated of a good nights sleep!
Beautiful views. Huge room and bathroom. Separate shower. Piping hot water.
Lift wasnt working !
Great location, lovely building, excellent rooms, garden & bars.
Food was v poor for the hotel rating, apparently it used to be good. Feels like they gave instructions to non-chefs. Bar gets crowded with non guests evenings & weekends.
Staff are so very friendly
Leaving, could have stayed another few days !
Bed, hotel in general. Breakfast was excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Room lacked light.
The bath room was fantastic wet room and a lovely bath which was down stairs. Breakfast value for money you could have a different one each day for a week.
Pleasant helpful staff. Delicious food.
Small room for price. Asked for quiet room and given one facing main road with traffic noise.
The location is convenient, the bed, pillows and bedding were very comfortable. Coffee machine in the room amazed us.
Lovely bath but too high for elderly to claim on and quite wobbly. Nice shower but has no rails or support for elderly as well. They forgotten to leave a tea spoon even there was a good selection of teas and coffee and fresh bottle of milk in the fridge. You can turn desk light on only together with the sealing light, which wasn't convenient for a couple. We found a newspaper on the door hook only when were leaving the room. When I mentioned this at check out I was told that I should ring the reception and ask for a spoon. Should I? All this little bits, but nothing serious. Overall that was a pleasant stay.
Location State and ambiance of hotel staff attitude
one of the bars were temporarily undergoing refurbishment.
I am so overjoyed that this hotel was the one I picked for my partners suprises birthday treat! The biggest thing that we were so pleased about was the fact they catered for me- I sm a coeliac and come up against problems everywhere I go. They made it no problem and there was no fuss! Very relaxed and romantic stay away, thank you!
