We had a standard room and initially asked if a upgrade was available but we didn't need it the standard double surpassed in every way it was clean, the staff very where helpful and the food for breakfast/ evening at the Bistro was perfect.
If I was going to be extremely picky and even then it's probably embarrassing to put something down is ideally you would like the hotel to be within the city wall but where the hotel is its five minutes walk from main city gate.
Breakfast was great
Bed too small considering price of room
A warm welcome and comfortable room with everything we needed Monsoon shower really hit the spot before our night out. A great nights sleep and breakfast finished off our lovely relaxing stay Our second visit here and will stay again on our next visit to york
Pillows Bed Towels Bathrobes Breakfast Waiter at breakfast very cheerful and service very good
Being put in the annex, no mention that there is an annex, and you have to go outside to get to it ! Most of the main hotel given over to corporate parties so no where to sit.
Hotel room was magic! Very well designed. Best shower I,ve been in !
Room quality, service, style and food.
suprise momento given to us by restaraunt staff whe we mentioned it was our wedding anniversery.
Car parking charge
Had to buy the bottle water in the room
Great location, very helpful staff, lovely room and a restaurant with a good atmosphere
Convenience for walking into York town centre. We found the staff very welcoming and knowledgable about the local area.
Not a dislike, but a suggestion that you install a grab handle in the baths of the standard rooms. For the not so able.
excellent location a 10 min ute walk from the station and close to the Racecourse
Quite expensive and breakfast extra!
Quirky accommodation. In some hotels when you ask for a twin room, you get the leftovers. Not in this case, lovely stay. Reception staff warm, friendly and knowledgeable about the area.
Too many snacks out on display in the room. Could be placed somewhere more discreet, perhaps in the cupboard beside the kettle.
The whole overall experience was fabulous, the staff were very friendly and the hotel was everything we'd hoped for.
Only stayed one night, so couldn't really find a fault.
It was all amazing - such style and elegance, so modern and smart! Brilliant breakfast too. Great bathrooms, and Miller Harris product. Wish we'd stayed for lunch!
It was a bit galling to park in the hotel car park then be told it's £10. One assumes with the price charged that would be included. And by the time you've parked, you're not really going to move the car to a side street. A bit cheeky!!
Friendly Staff Close proximity to city
dirty floors under bed and bathroom area, not been cleaned in weeks. min effort to clean room during stay over priced & small cocktails not a very inviting menu for eatting in the hotel
Location. Bed , general facilities were good, but please see comments opposite, which will probably stop me using the hotel in the future.
In very small print at the bottom of the restaurant menu is the information that 10% voluntary service charge will be added to your account. When you sign for the meal you are nevertheless given the option of adding a gratuity, It is very easy to miss the small print. I left a 10% gratuity and did not realise that the service charge had already been deducted until I examined by account after paying it the next day. I then looked at a copy of the menu outside that restaurant, where on close examination I saw the relevant information. I was in a hurry and accepted that it was my fault for not reading the small print, so did not question it at the time. However, the fact that the information was in such small print suggests to me that it may have been an attempt to mislead and to make the customer part with more money than they had intended. One expects lawyers rather than hoteliers to indulge in such practice. After I had left, I received an email to say that an extra £18 had been charged to my credit card for items from the minibar.Although a frequent hotel guest, I never buy things from mini bars as they tend to be rather expensive. I immediately telephoned the hotel, who explained that it was for a bottle of red wine. When I told them I had made no such purchases they immediately said that it must have been a previous guest and the amount would be refunded to my card. I had already told them on check-out that I had had nothing from the mini bar and the readiness with which they agreed to refund the money, suggested that this may have been some sort of try-on to make up for an existing shortfall in their stock. Because of these matters, I shall probably not use this chain in future. However good a hotel, I am put off staying there if I feel I cannot trust them.

Loved everything about the hotel, so romantic and lovely staff, will definately be staying there again.
Clean stylish rooms with vey comfortable beds
Bar is very expensive.
Really enjoyed our stay :-) even though the hotel was on a main route into the city we didn't hear the traffic noise :-) and the walk into the city centre was only 10 minutes :-) we would stay there again :-)
Room was excellent, very comfortable bed and air conditioning which was a real bonus the weekend we stayed as the weather was really hot. Location great within walking distance to York race course and town centre. Staff friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel great location when visiting York.
No dislikes, very impressed.
Friendly staff, clean nice room, good location - only 10 min walk to centre. Pleasant surroundings.
Quite pricey and expect breakfast to be included for price but wasn't.
Really lovely restaurant and rooms
