Situated on the outskirts of Henley-on-Thames overlooking the beautiful Chiltern Valley, with the River Thames just at the bottom of the lane, the Black Boys Inn is a stylish and relaxing country...

This wisteria-clad historic hotel is uniquely located by the banks of the Thames River, close to Heathrow and Reading airports.

Character has its price. If you are not willing to put up with the occasional low doorway, staircases in odd places this might not be the place for you.
My room must have been a nightmare for the interior designer responsible for the last renno. Character everywhere! If you like old beams, unfinished brick walls etc this place is for you.
No car parking but valet service was good
interesting quirky feel to this hotel far removed from many corporate chains, great bar and restaurant
Unique rooms and lovely court yard.
Heating slow to react
Slow service in the restaurant.
Extremely comfortable bed Beautiful bathroom Breakfast Bar
Loose tiles on the bathroom floor.
Style of both public rooms and bedrooms.
Excellent customer service and beautiful large rooms
Asked for a large glass of White wine before dinner and served one that was £15ish. I know i should have asked the price but feel a bit ripped off.
Lovely bathroom and toiletries. Comfortable bed , nice view.
The Hotel is beautifully and discreetly located near to the River Thames and is also convenient for shops, restaurants & pubs. Every member of staff we encountered were extremely pleasant, polite and helpful at all times during our stay and ensured that we had everything necessary to make our stay enjoyable. The room was quiet as we had requested and was adequately supplied with tea making, toiletries and the usual basics needed for an overnight stay, although it would have been helpful to have more lighting over the mirror in the bathroom. As the building is listed, there is no lift, so the number of stairs we had to climb to reach our room meant that we had to organise ourselves very well to avoid unnecessary journeys. However, this was not a big problem with the luggage, as a strong young man was on hand to deliver our cases to our room.
The bed was one of those beautiful looking beds but had wood all around which I walked in to twice and I have the biggest bruise on my shin. Also the feather pillows, although a lovely idea, gave absolutely no support and I had terrible neck ache after. No complementary water to drink and only ONE shower gel to share with the toilet and all the baths and shower. Also, there were no instructions on what number to dial for reception etc. The food in the restaurant was not that great and the menu was quite short.
We stayed in a suite and it was gorgeous! Two amazing baths, fantastic shower and, well, just beautiful.
Awesome location Large bath Beautiful period property and features Free WiFi
Rooms were not replenished every day. Minimal cleaning done in rooms, corners, window frames, etc., very dusty. Reception staff were rarely available. Valet service was extremely slow.
The breakfast is fantastic. Staff were super friendly. Pre-arrival requests all met in full.
Service in restaurant was very slow . From ordering to getting your food was almost one hour
Front of House, Bedrooms and heated floors
WiFi was easily available but then couldn't connect to Internet sites...not really a problem otherwise would have followed up with staff - small step in bathroom was quite dangerous as couldn't see easily.
Room was unusual but comfortable with great, big bathroom & monsoon shower
Service - felt more like a motorway service station
The heated towel rail was not working.
The room was quiet (except for the adjacent plumbing) and spacious. The shower was good and bed comfortable. The pillows too fat. Breakfast excellent.
Room facilities excellent, touching on luxury. Superb food in brasserie, both evening meal and breakfast.
We are not used to Central heating and found the room stuffy and hot couldn't open the window as there were 2 extractor units on the nearby roofs. Breakfast was great but rather slow arriving.
Staff were excellent at all times. Room clean and comfortable. Close to the river and the shops and a short walk to the wedding venue we were attending.
Beautiful rooms and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
the pillows were a bit naff
the staff and the food were amazing
Spacious roomy, clean, luxurious, relaxing. Loved the shower and bathroom, robes towels, felt you had got away from it all. Food good, atmosphere very friendly.
For parking you need to give them your keys then they park the car for you. No drop off parking.
Size bedroom. Shower very good. Bar area
There is no obvious place to stop to unload bags except on double yellow lines. The hotel did not quite live up to our expectations.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful both in reception and the food areas. We felt that we were looked after.
"Sorry", contrary to what popular music would have you believe, is not the hardest word. When you charge members of a group for their rooms twice, over charge on drinks, and then mix the various bar bills across three different rooms - an apology might be a good place to start.
The building and the location are an absolute dream. Our Croat-Italian barman was excellent. The free-standing bath and shower room (with underfloor heating) were great.
