Score from 127 reviews Wonderful
The breakfast was excellent. Location one of the best. The bar lovely.
Good food, well priced. Comfortable bed and room was very nicely decorated. Great location for getting into town.
Room was far too hot. ( Too windy to have the windows open ). A number of things needed fixing in the room. ( Leaking shower screen, faulty tap, rattling door ) No free water in the room!
Good central location , yet tucked away from the hustle of the Main Street . Quiet
Restaurant service first class
everything was good and we had a lovely time. The food was excellent as was most things
Better sound proofing between bedrooms or televisions should have restricted volume.
Being on the top floor afforded a fine view out over the harbour, Castle Cornet and the islands beyond. The breakfasts were very good and the staff very helpful and engaging. We had dinner on one evening and that was good as well.
The downside of being on the top floor was the heat of the room (there is no air-conditioning) and the stairs to get there especially with luggage (there is no lift). We had no serious help from the staff to get an early morning taxi. Being told we should have ordered one with more than 12 hours notice was not helpful and left a "bad taste" after what had been a pleasant stay. We eventually secured a taxi through a local restaurant.
The location was excellent
There wasn't a much space to move around the room. The room was very hot and there was no air conditioning to cool the room down.
Large choice of cooked breakfast. Smoke haddock was very nice. Excellent food in restaurant Friendly and helpful staff Nice room with confortable bed
Narrow streets and entrance to car park. Lots of stairs TV remote control problems
Location and friendliness of staff.
Needs a residents lounge and a lift to the thied floor
The hotel was very well placed for the town and the staff were wonderful. The decor was a little tired and the bathrooms not spotless,, but for an average hotel on an expensive island, the Duke if Normandy was adequate.
It was a shame that the approach to the hotel was a car park, instead of gardens. The beer garden overlooked the car park too, which isn't ideal. With space at a premium in the town, this is probably unavoidable.
Smart hotel great location. Rooms really good.
Good central location. Good choice at breakfast.
Noisy at night.
Staff friendly and went to every effort to help their customers
Would have liked a separate lounge area and not in the reception where the doors open...do like somewhere cosy to read my books!
Location, just up from the harbour and main street. Staff at breakfast generally very welcoming Bed was very comfortable
The room was very dark, claustrophobic and airless. Extremely hot and stuffy but no means of getting fresh air in due to the very small window. Had to resort to leaving the door open one night, but not very practical as opens onto an external walkway. Had to ask if the room we were given was one of their ' superior or executive rooms' or a standard. Was amazed to find it was an 'executive'. The size, apparently was what made it executive and allowed them to charge a higher rate - hard to believe there were smaller double rooms. When I mentioned that the room we got was was not what was expected from the website pictures the response was 'oh! I have not seen the website pictures'. Very odd response. Very disappointed and left a bad feeling. I suspect the reviews are very reflective of the room you are allocated. If you are lucky to get one of the more spacious rooms then it would be a good hotel.
Our room was excellent, very comfortable & very clean. The location was good for boat trips, shops & pubs. Staff were friendly & efficient.
Finding the Duke was difficult due to the one way system in St Peter Port. I would recommend downloading a good map before going. Restaurant menu was limited for choice.
Good breakfast Well proportioned room with good size bathroom
Bath high/ difficult to get in and out of No air conditioning so windows open and lots of noise from outside including church bells
Staff all very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Location only a short walk from shops etc.
No air con in rooms, so consequently, very noisy due to windows having to be open. Room was small considering it was described as executive.
Close to centre Excellent staff Good food
No air con therefore had to keep windows wide open as the nights we were there were very warm, otherwise no problems
Location very convenient
Poor lighting in bedroom
I entered "Hotels Guernsey" into Safari and chose the Duke. A tremendous choice, real quality in every aspect. It is so conveniently placed just off High Street, yet very quiet. The staff were very considerate of my sight impairment, the food was very good, the room very comfortable, what more need I say? We will be back next time we visit Guernsey.
Gold bar, Ray is very good in his job, good breakfast. Parking is great.
the Toiletten was in poor condition, it was reported, nothing happened.
Location near town centre yet very secluded. Room was spacious and spotless. The breakfast was decent and the staff were friendly.
Car park very limited
Location. fabulous, friendly staff. excellent rooms. spotless. Two minute walk to harbour.
good food good location comfy bed lovely room helpful staff
Bar not open late could hear everything in early morning outside, but am a light sleeper
