services and food quality
lack of car parking facilities
The staff were welcoming and eager to solve problems. The little extras such as bottled water for runners, sweeties etc. Lovely conservatory extension to the dining room and outdoor eating facility.
The only problems we had were with the kitchen. The front of house staff were fine. We complained about not having a working extractor fan in the bathroom which made it very steamy and a bit damp in the bedroom.
The friendly staff The great choice for breakfast Great rooms The bathroom was fantastic Temperature control for the room
Complimentary coffee was standard stuff The pool was cold when we used it
All the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hotel gave a feeling of luxury.
Having to walk through the terrace (& what appeared to be a Wedding Reception) to get to the Pool. Also our room was not ready on time - had to wait best part of an hour.
Little bit pricey but well worth it
The location is excellent - about 10 minutes walk (uphill on the way back!) from the harbour front. Being set up the hill behind the harbour the views are stunning - it was well worth paying for a sea view. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it was spotlessly clean. The outside space is great - breakfast and drinks on the terrace were memorable, and the outdoor pool is a reasonable size and heated. They even supply suncream.
There was a lot of noise from the terrace when functions were held in the evening. Letters advising about this were placed under our door so we were warned in advance. If you opt for a sea view room this can't be avoided. The reception/concierge staff were extremely helpful with restaurant suggestions and taxi booking - but didn't always quite deliver what they promised - a last minute restaurant booking came to nothing, although we then ended up eating at the hotel - which presumably suited them better anyway? Also a taxi was booked for the wrong time - although they sorted this out.
A great location situated up a hill about 10 minutes from the centre. Great service and very comfortable bed. The breakfasts are also first class as is this hotel. Highly recommended.
Stylish hotel with friendly attentive and responsive staff. Very comfortable rooms. Good breakfast selection. Quiet area but you need to be prepared to climb if you are on foot, and enjoy the views on the way.
A very friendly hotel staff extremely helpful food 1st class Highly recommendable
Friendly and polite, responsive service. Very helpful staff. Great breakfast included. Dining room well managed and food good. Good wine list. Despite the issues we note, we would recommend this hotel to others as the service outweighed the irritations.
Not a place to have a car due to difficult parking restrictions in the area and miniscule hotel car parking facility. Our room was rather small but well updated. We were advised to ask for a larger room and pay a higher price.
The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Enthusiastic to help - printed off boarding passes and removed excess furniture. Nothing seemed too much trouble.
The room had too much furniture, but this was dealt with
A most relaxing stay at a beautiful hotel. The staff couldn't do enough for you. The breakfast was yummy and the pool is beautiful. The rooms were tastefully decorated and the bed very comfortable. The hotel is in a lovely quiet area but close to restaurants of St. Peter Port for a meal out.
Limited parking spaces
Excellent breakfasts with broad choices, many little touches throughout the hotel to make a stay both pleasurable and comfortable, plenty of thick white fluffy towels and a luxurious bed and linens for a comfy well-rested stay. Superb hotel placed just above Candie Gardens so a very pretty downhill stroll to the town.
Slight noise from the air conditioning units for the public areas heard in our room (overlooking the sea) if the windows were open, but these were switched off at night so a minor distraction.
staff, atmosphere, food&drink friendliness cleanliness all excellent.
location to hilly, from st peter port.
Thoughtful extra touches
Staff were helpful and friendly Food was very good Hotel was clean and comfortable
The extractor fan for the kitchen was very noisy and right opposite our room, which meant we could not go to sleep until after the fan had been switched off and it woke us up at 6 o'clock every morning.
Just returned from an all too brief stay whilst on business locally. It’s been over a year since I last stayed but was a very welcome return. The hotel is high quality in every respect but what sets it aside from other establishments is the staff. Nothing is ever too much trouble, they are always attentive but never intrusive. Olga who manages the team in the restaurant is exceptional, a consummate professional who goes out of her way to ensure you have a perfect dining experience, I’ve never been anything but delighted with the food it’s always fresh, tasty, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented . I would agree with another reviewer the standard rooms are not vast but they are spotlessly clean, very well appointed with high quality fixtures and fittings, if you need acres of space book a superior room or suite. I look forward to my next visit whenever that may be.
HAVING TO LEAVE!
Champagne on arrival when we mentioned it was our honeymoon. The staff were attentive and friendly. Bedroom well appointed, with quality complimentary toiletries. Dinner in the restaurant was unplanned, yet we were so pleased we ended up there, as dinner was the highlight of our stay. The restaurant staff were particularly efficient and attentive.
The wifi consistently dropped out during our stay.
The friendliness of the staff and the overall feel of the hotel were excellent. The quality of the breakfast was very good, we've stayed at far more expensive hotels and this is probably one of the best we have had.
We had a room on a side street that was a bit noisy early in the morning so I wished I'd booked a room at the front and unfortunately none were available for me to upgrade but it didn't spoil our stay
The reception and resturant staff are first class
I was put in a room in the first floor that is next to some kind of noisy generator, but to be fair never asked to change the room because I didn't have enough time to do so.
Service, small room, over cooked eggs! Location, & small bed.
No gym No indoor pool Wifi times out Restaurant very expensive Needs more retardant options
The hotel was lovely. Very clean and beautiful. The service was great. The food was also very good. I would go there again.
Needs a gym and a bigger better swimming pool.
Overall super experience. Staff were great, the reception and bar staff especially. The beds were Massive and very comfy, the air con in the rooms a bonus on the warm evenings :) pool was lovely - extra personal touches around the hotel were what made it special even though it's a big hotel they made you feel special- ie the sun cream and towels at the pool / the towels and water at the reception if you wanted to go for a run / tea and coffee at reception in take away cups which helped on our early flight home! Really enjoyable and if I'm ever back in guernsey I will definately be staying here again!
The friendliness and helpful staff
