The whole atmosphere of the hotel was excellent. Very welcoming and all staff were very polite and helpful.
Can't think of anything.
Location was good for our visit
Car parking was very limited and not sufficient for the size of the hotel.
Very limited bar space with no available seating in the evening, and over a half hour wait for breakfast to be served the next morning.
Imposing architecture, very friendly service, plush and elegant interior to hotel main rooms - almost a step back in time. sweeping staircases and comfortable 4 poster bed. Excellent breakfast choices.
Position was great Breakfast was just ok The bed was great and the shower
Room was small There was a smell that was like old Hoover bags throughout the hotel (not in dining room) You could tell that the last time they revamped the place was during the eighties .
It was so noisy. Not nice. And no one cared.
The room was fine.
What let it down, was the water pressure was very poor. The staff where told on departure
Fab suite room with separate living area, very friendly staff, comfortable surroundings and an excellent breakfast brought to our room
CREAKS AND WATER RUNNING NOISES
Large room with very good facilities
Smallcar park iwas informeď that if i moved the car i would not back on as the car was loaded i chose to stay My aďvice get there early
Generally the hotel was ideal for my needs.
Dinner in the restaurant was quite poor, I was very disappointed. I have visited the hotel quite a few times in the last couple of years and this was the first time I had dinner. I would not have an evening meal in the restaurant again.
The building is wonderful although the interior is a little tired in places. The car park is very handy and we found the location excellent. We were quite demanding as guests but the staff were courteous and helpful at all times.
The breakfast room has some excellent architectural features which are not enhanced by the dull colour of the walls
Character of hotel. Cleanliness Spacious Easy access to my friends .
View was of fire escape. If I had been staying longer room would have ben unsuitable
The Duke is a fine old building - the antidote to 'concrete box hotels'. The dining room & food quality are worth visiting for as a non-resident. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
When I stayed at the Duke two years ago the décor of my room was modern. This time it had a rather institutional look. The room was large & comfortable however.
Good position for the things we wanted to do: see the fireworks at the annual competition and visit the Cremyll peninsular via the ferries.
The room was tatty. The bathroom was half plastic, but papered outside and the paper was water stained and peeled. In the room there was a trouser press that couldn't be used as the other furniture stopped it opening. There was old stuff in a drawer from 2013 so not good cleaning.
Excellent breakfast, speedy service. Staff very helpful.
Some traffic noise in front facing room.
Large room, beautifully decorated and great facilities Really tasty breakfast with plenty of options
The hotel was spacious and comfortable. The staff were very courteous and helpful particularly in the restaurant. Food was very enjoyable.
Dinner was a little pricey.
Staff were pleasant and most very smiley. Welcoming feeling. Plenty of tea/coffee sachets etc. As much as you could want for a good breakfast. Location good for walking round Plymouth. Free car parking, if get there early.
The general lack of decoration. A lot of gaps around the bath seal for the shower. Water stains on wallpaper. Cheap feel of room. Sheets and blankets on bed instead of duvet. Have had a lot better room in a B&B, for a lot less.
Staff helpful Good quality food Location
Limited choice on menu Noise from internal hotel plumbing
The communal areas and breakfast at the hotel were on par for a 3 star hotel with recent flat screen tv and wifi in the room. The location and view was the only plus point of this hotel.
The room had very poor decor, carpet and furnishings. Lino worn and stained beyond cleaning as it was probably over 10 years old as was the badly chipped old gloss paint. Water stained wall paper and worn out towel stand. We struggled every time to flush the toilet. I doubt it would be 1 star. We did not want to be there and would not recommend it. Poor investment and maintenance. You ought to be very ashamed.
Lovely big bed, excellent breakfast, comfortable room. Bar snacks good size portions and value for money. Staff helpful and polite
Had a big wet room, but water did not drain away, making all the floor very wet. An amazingly tiny lift could nearly get 2people plus luggage in. Car park very small it was full the first night when we arrived so had to park on the road.
realy enjoyed our stay couldn't fault it food delicious staff welcoming and friendly very clean cant wait to go back there
The bed was awful
