We like the locality of the city centre for sight-seeing and shopping & proximity of the sea. The car park was a great plus! The breakfast was tasty and traditional. Staff were polite and friendly. We asked if our mattress could be changed for a firmer one and the receptionist instead offered to change our room at no extra cost, which was very fair. Initially we arrived very late and our room had a very soft mattress, 211. This wasn't comfortable for us. A vegetarian option for a cooked breakfast might be nice? Ie. Veggy sausages?

The Hotel is in a brilliant spot, handy for the Theatres & the Hoe & Shopping. A lovely Oldy Worldy hotel, a step back in time. Beautiful surroundings, full of atmosphere, quiet & peaceful. Our room was beautifully decorated with lovely wallpaper & blinds & comfy beds. The Bathroom was very clean & nicely decorated. Beautifully cooked & presented breakfast in the stunning Dining Room. We enjoyed our stay, it gave us everything we wanted. The staff were helpful & polite. We left feeling rested & relaxed. We will be back one day & will recommend your Brilliant Hotel. The only things we can complain about was that the room 307 was dusty & there was nowhere to put our toiletries in the Bathroom a little table or shelf would be ideal. Also in the Dining room we sat by a huge plant that was very dusty & had an unattractive thick wooden pole propping it up up. It was in the way & the waiters had to keep pushing past it. You should take it away as it is not needed & doesnt add to the dining room in any way & makes it look a bit grotty. A pity as the Dining room is stunning but doesnt need old , dusty plants that spoil the look of the room. We also noticed lots of unwashed glasses on the bar that were there for 24hrs & still there when we left at 2pm the next day. Also we were worried that our sash window only opened about 10inches, what if there was a fire? That did worry us. These are just little things which can easily be sorted out. If you need a trouble shooter just call me.!

mainly the close proximity to the Theatre & able to leave the car in the park and walk across the road to it. Very good attention in the Bar & a very good Bar-Meal was served in good time before the show.

We stayed for a family get together with relatives in Plymouth. We found the comfort and service were excellent, the staff very friendly and polite, and in an excellent position for the Barbican and morning walks on the front. Of course the weather was perfect which helped.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the flowers and champagne on our arrival and the room was comfortable. The rooms could do with some refurbishment. Unfortunately due to a function we were unable to have dinner in the restaurant.

Every thing was fine except that in would be an improvement to have a shelf/work top in the bathroom. No shelf/work top in the bathroon & a light bulb was missing.

Ideal location for what we had planned for New Years Eve celebrations in Plymouth. Decor in our room was a bit tired and the shower head in the bathroom left a lot to be desired.

Historic hotel. Lots of charm. Large rooms. Wonderful service. Happy staff. Breakfast was fabulous. Short walk to coast. The hotel parking lot is small, but there is plenty of parking on the street.

Our room was excellent. Wonderful views over the city. Most important, however, was that we could have our dog with us.

Large well-decorated room and grand public rooms Waiting staff should be more professional - not talking loudly on personal business in the dining room while guests are having breakfast. Reception staff in fleeces look unprofessional, a view reinforced when I was given the key at check-in to an already occupied room.

We attended a show at the Pavilions Theatre which was just across the road from the Hotel. The car park was ideal. We could have a couple of drinks with our meal in the |Bat before the show and did not have to use the car. Staff were excellant as usual. We hove booked for February in order to do the same thimg. We where in Plymouth for a funeral. The hotel staff where great and because we had the funeral on the departure day we wanted to go for a walk after lunch and come back to the room to change. We asked at the reception if we could stay after the normal dept which was 11am they allowed us to return to our room and leave about 1230,which was very handy. My wife breakfast in her room and the cooked breakfast was to our surprise very hot.

Very handy fro Plymouth Pavilions A bit tired, bed was hard and uncomfortable, pillows like cardboard. Surprisingly all the in room light fittings were standard bulbs none low energy. Bathroom door was an ill-fitting replacement.

“Apart from being very good value, the reviews were very good for the hotel and that's always important. The staff were excellent - friendly and welcoming. The room although fairly basic was comfortable, warm and had everything we needed. Breakfast was good and the evening meals they are now serving were good quality and very good value. Weather whilst we were there was not great but the quality of the staff and the hotel made up for it. We will use the hotel the next time we are in Plymouth.” Christopher, Basingstoke |
