In picturesque Woodstock, just 20 minutes’ drive from Oxford centre, Macdonald Bear Hotel offers free parking and a restaurant. Set in a 13th-century inn, the charming rooms have period features.

Originally a 15th-century coaching inn, this refurbished hotel offers a relaxing home away from home in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds.

The Feathers Hotel, situated in the centre of historic Woodstock on the doorstep of Blenheim Palace. Originally seven separate houses, the hotel boasts character and charm with antiques and log fires....
Score from 147 reviews Very good
Room very comfortable and quiet. Pub warm and welcoming. Food very good. Good real ale selection.
Nowhere to go for a walk. Only a petrol service station next door.
Cleaning ok. Personnel friendly Nice fireplace
Walking directly from outside into the room. A lot of traffic noise coming through the door. Insolation between rooms bad.
I never do the review thing but after staying at the Duke I felt I had too tell you all how lovely it was. We had an evening meal & all 5 different meals were excellent. The rooms were really nice loads of space in fact I don't think the pictures on line do it any justice it's just a really nice place to stay & eat. My son had his 15th birthday & they even put a banner on the breakfast table for him added with the very welcoming & funny owner/staff we just really want to go back & stay longer.
The main reason for the stay was to visit Blenheim Palace which was a short distance from the Pub/Hotel and close to visit many places in the Cotswolds. A rural retreat in a fairly quiet location with plenty of free parking and very helpful staff. Nice size ensuite rooms were of a mainly high standard, lovely bedding, nice selection of bathroom wash soaps etc and good tea/coffee facilities (nice touch with biscuits). For older people it is recommended use of ground floor rooms. The pub served a good selection of drinks (ales) and satisfactory 'homely' food and menu, excellent breakfast included in the price. Bus stop directly outside with regular service. A thoroughly enjoyable stay and would definitely consider staying there again.
Comfort of pillows not to our taste and difficult to please all, but wish we had taken our own pillows. Bathroom side panels were in process of being renewed. Some clanking in water pipes. Shower head was a bit mouldy and dirty.
We stayed 2 nights here and forgot we had booked the room earlier as 2 pax for my husband and i (we added our son to our travel ) but Derek who attended to us at breakfast did not charge the extra breakfast for 2 days. My son enjoyed the bar and the friendly bartenders. Room was clean and spacious.
Everything. Celebrating our ruby wedding we were made to feel welcome. Staff were warm, friendly and smiling.
Excellent English cooked breakfast, with locally supplied food, set us up for another long day sightseeing in Oxford.
Very adaptable to any travel problem
The room was spacious, the staff really welcoming. Breakfast okay but nothing sparkling except the home made marmalade which was fantastic
eating breakfast in the bar. If they have a dinning room it wasn't in use.
A comfortable, value for money establishment with friendly and accommodating staff. The restaurant menu gives a varied choice and the standard of the meals tried was excellent. Well impressed with the wifi which worked with no problems at all. Thoroughly enjoyable stay, thank you.
Unfortunately the phone signal wasn't great (only available in small areas of the room) but as the wifi worked we were able to keep in contact with home.
We came to visit Blenheim palace so needed accommodation nearby. Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Meals were excellent, great service and friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again.
There was nothing to dislike
Shower dripped when turned off and water came out of fitting when turned on. Ask for upper storey room for. Could hear people above us walking about.
Good food, relaxed atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle
Breafast is only served from 07h30 and it is too late to get to an office in Oxford by 08h30 considering the horrendous traffic.
Staff could not be more attentive, young girl in particular whose name we didn't catch went above and beyond. Breakfast was delicious. Made my nervous stay with out the children very pleasant and relaxed! Lovely lovely establishment. Thank you. Mr and Mrs Han-de-Beaux
Everything was absolutely brilliant. Would definantly stay again and recommend to any friends if we know they are going to the area. Thank you to all staff! Excellent do not change a thing!
I have stayed here on multiple occasions and have always found it to be very spacious, and the rooms to be clean with nice facilities. As a young woman travelling by myself, I have always felt quite safe there as it is well lit up and the car park leads directly to the rooms. I also like that there are separate access and outside doors, and not all down the same corridor.
The staff were not all as hospitable the last few times, especially when I have had to leave earlier than breakfast. Also I have found the room quite cold on the previous two occasions, only finding at the end of the last trip how to turn the heaters on.

Quiet location. Good pub food and caring staff.
Good, friendly staff. Location - close to Oxford, right next to Woodstock and Blenheim Palace. Large, comfortable rooms. Good food and friendly pub.
Wifi only available in the pub.
Convenient location for visiting the area. Friendly staff and landlord with great sense of humour and fun. Good size room with sofa. Breakfast cooked to order - good selection.
Fresh fruit at breakfast would have been welcome. Bathroom needs refurbishing, although there is a notice to say this is in hand. Closer attention to cleaning needed.
