The Duke of Marlborough is a quaint building just outside Woodstock and Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. It offers free parking and hearty, locally-sourced food. Rooms at the Duke of Marlborough are warm and spacious, and the pub features both a bar restaurant and an area for private functions. Wi-Fi is available in public areas. Located just 2 miles from Woodstock, the Duke offers easy access to the historic city of Oxford, which is just a 25-minute drive away. Blenheim Palace is only a 5-minute ride by car. Hotel Rooms: 13

The landlord in the pub was affable and entertaining. In fact, the pub is the best part of this place. Go there for a drink, especially one of the excellent selection of whiskies. We weren't expecting to stay in a pub, and the website gave no indication that this was the case - the photos suggest something more like a hotel. We weren't travelling on a budget, but this felt like budget accommodation. There are many other better places in or nearer Oxford for the same price. The rooms are cold, poorly furnished and finished, and uninviting; they were unprepared for us even though we had a confirmed booking. The location is miles from anything, and even the nearby, uninteresting village is too far a walk. As a one night stop- over the hotel is merely adequate, but we would have moved on immediately if we had planned a longer stay.

- Check in was quick - the outside of the buildings looked nice - The fact that the heating in the room was either extremely hot or off (I.e freezing cold) - The price, representing terrible value for money - The stained bed cover - The small bed and lack of duvet and flat, uncomfy pillows - That although breakfast was served until 10:00, we were treated hostilely when we arrived at 09:45 - When my husband asked if it was possible to have kippers with a poached egg and tomato rather than either/or, he was told he was "bloody greedy"

Comfortable and clean beds. Really good breakfast - lots of choice. Slightly misleading location details in description as we were looking for accommodation in Woodstock (to walk into Blenheim Palace) whereas the hotel was several miles out of the town in Woodleys. However parking was very easy at Woodstock and Blenheim.

Very pleasant restaurant. Good menu, service and value. Comfortable accomodation, but slightly tired looking. The accomodation seemed a bit overpriced.

Location good but all looking a little tired. Shiny/worn seating in bar and toilets not clean. Didn't feel ' clean'. Staff were all pleasant but thought the price high for room only.

The rooms were well furnished and quite comfortable. The food served in the restaurant was of very high quality and the staff were quite friendly. The weather was quite hot, 27 to 28 degrees Celcius, but no air conditioning or fans were available. As a result the rooms became quite hot (even with the windows open) which made it hard to sleep.

Great breakfast For the price that I paid, the room was too shabby. Some of the stuff was broken and not repaired. On the 1st day my children and I used up the towels and they were dirty, but the hose keeper didn't replace the towels but hang them back despite that they were soaking wet and dirty.

The room was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The nightly rate is expensive for the facilities on offer. It is located next to a busy road.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. Room comforable. Food in the Restaurant excellent. Position ideal for visits to Oxford & Blenheim Palace. The only downside to our stay was discovering the W.C. in our bathroom had not been cleaned. The problem, however, was dealt with efficiently and fairly promptly. I like to think it was just a one-off oversight by the housejeeper!

It was central to where we were visiting The ensuite smelly bathroom had a really damp stagnant smell so had to keep the door closed to save the bedroom being the same. The window had to be kept open all day to make this room habitable

The John Dory soup was nicest soup in the world, the food and service are very good but the hotel seems to lack a bit of atmosphere. It was plain everyone there used it very much as a base. Our room cleaner did a fab job.
