The hall itself was a very impressive building. The estate was large and interesting and we enjoyed the animals and wildlife, especially the black swans. The attentiveness of the staff was excellent Excellent value for money ! Unfortunately, we didn't get a four-pster bed !!

I was very excited to stay at this beautiful hall that is situated not truly in the Cotswolds but on the cusp. The manager on duty was extremely nervous and I felt as if he kept "following" us. We arrived late and every time we turned around, either he or another man on duty was there....at 11 pm!!! Even outside, we tried to get a nightime view of the castle and the manager came outside to move his car fifty feet? I also overheard them discussing me in the lobby concerning an issue I had with booking. I understand that these issues must be discussed for training purposes, etc but not so I can hear! I thought that was rude and not very professional. The hotel is nice but my friend's room was very musty smelling with a big stain on the wall. She actually ended up sleeping in my room.

Beautiful building in perfect countryside surroundings. Quiet and relaxed, plush, but not too posh. Romantic old feel, real character, lovely room and wash facilities. Nice breakfast - croissants and pastries, as well as a (modestly sized) full English. Minor gripes really - the bed was a bit soft for my girlfriend and the heating could have been turned up more. Minor, as I say.

Dumbleton Hall is set in beautiful countryside, which is perfect for a long walk, and is maintained to an extremely high standard both inside and out. The staff were extremely helpful, the lovely young lady on reception even recommended a local pub for my partner and I to go to for dinner one evening. The food was very good - we ate in the à la carte restaurant on the first night and the breakfast both mornings were delicious. Overall we had a lovely time and would definitely go again and recommend to friends. The only complaint I have is not with regards to Dumbleton Hall itself, just that there is not a pub within walking distance to the hotel - and on a rainy spring afternoon, it would have been nice to waste away the afternoon sipping local ale rather than one of us having to drive. But as I said - not a complaint against the hotel - I can't recommend it enough.

The Hall is set in a beautiful and tranquil location with acres of wooded grounds, complimented by a lake with a pair of imperious Black Swans. The hotel is clean and spacious with a roaring log fire in the reception area. The ambience was one of total relaxation with guests enjoying a quiet break away from their normal routine. The rooms (and we saw several) are quite large with comfortable beds and are pleasantly furnished. The architecture of the building itself dates back to the early 1800s but has been well adapted for modern living. The staff were friendly and helpful without being 'in your face'. Dumbleton Hall is one of the most pleasing hotels we have stayed in and represents excellent value for money. Struggling... But there were a few pieces of litter around the front of the hotel building that would not have taken long to pick up.

Location and the superb building Extremely disappointing restaurant which offered a boring menu and no attempt at what might be defined as 'fine dining'. On Valentines Day there was no special menu and indeed I demanded credit on one of the meals as it was awful. No apology forthcoming. We would certainly not consider staying there again. Money wasted .

Food, location and comfort Asked for light bulb to be replaced in bedroom but it wasn't during our stay. One of the radiators didn't work. When you came out of lift on the second floor, looking right all you could see was a cage with possible dirty bed linen. Lookked awful.

I was very impressed with the building itself and its ability to combine historical setting with luxury. It was excellent value and provided for all our needs. There was excellent walking in the immediate area. The staff were very accommodating as we were a party of 8. I would definitely go there again

Staff were very friendly and helpful, my husband is in a wheelchair and nothing was too much trouble for them. So lovely to be able to take our dog with such wonderful grounds to walk in. Its a shame we ran out of time because we would certainly have liked to have spent longer both at the hotel and the surrounding area. We certainly would like to stay again in the future. Our relatives came along and had a meal with us in the evening and the food was excellent. I would just say that £9.20 for two small glasses of wine was a touch expensive as was the the bottled water at nearly £5.00 per bottle.

As an older couple we liked being offered help with our luggage. We also liked the warm atmosphere in the dining room. The log fires were a lovely touch. To access our room we had to walk through workmen. There were tins of paint and tools left in the corridors when not working. Our room could have been warmer. Our bathroom door hinge was loose (mentioned to receptionist) The washbasin tap had the end missing (mentioned to receptionist) Steak on Saturday evening was so tough, my husband could not eat it. IHe mentioned this to waitress who apologised. When we said we enjoyed our dessert, we got the comment "that made up for the steak then".

Just what we hoped it would be Although there was a large wedding party we had a very peaceful and private large room away from the music and the dining room staff were very good to the guests who were eating there We took our Golden retriever with us and had lovely walks in the magnificent grounds in such a tranquil area The lakes were an added attraction with the pair of black swans and much wildlife

Friendly, helpful staff A nicely decorated historical country setting Great to see a lift in an old house like this, which was much appreciated by my parents. Good value Champagne offer Difficult to find the entrance to the hotel in the dark as there are no lights by the entrance gate from the village. There were 8 of us for dinner and although all of the food was served at the same time, some of it was not hot. Cooked breakfast contained only one egg - staff should have asked if more than one was required as normally I would anticipate 2 poached eggs on an otherwise empty plate!

The hotel was idyllic - Downton Abbey / Pride & Predudice like. The family room we stayed in was a lot larger than we expected and was very comfortable. Everywhere was very clean and all the staff were very courteous and helpful. The breakfast was cooked lovely and was very fresh. Nothing to dislike for the purpose of our one night visit. If staying longer it does need more facitilities.

Dumbleton Hall is a really amazing place to stay, packed full of history. The public rooms and staircase are very impressive. Our room was large, comfortable and had lovely views of the garden terraces and beyond. The choice at breakfast was wide and both the quality and service were excellent. Great value for money! We all left Dumbleton wanting to return again soon
