The history is all within walking distance. it has enough going on but like all towns since COVID, there are hopes closed that may never open again. the bus is regular so you can relax and watch the very beautiful scenery while having visits to other towns.

It was a very nice apartment on two floors. Steep stairs up to both floors but apart from that very nice indeed and would highly recommend. We were visiting my sister who lives up the street from the Bakehouse so the recommendations below are not applicable as it was Christmas and all was closed.

A lovely little area with some amenities round about.
A lovely little area with some amenities round about. From our hotel in Roxburgh it took 5 minutes in a taxi to the town square. The town itself has everything you need Greg’s, chemist, co-op, coffee shops, antique stores, few pubs. So you can definitely spend a few hours toddling about.
There is also a castle about another 2/3 minutes drive by. But do check the website for seasonal opening times.
For great wholesome food I’d definitely recommended cobbles inn. You’ll probably have to book a table so be prepared, it’s a busy little place.

Kelso is a pretty market town with a friendly and thriving community. We have visited twice and always found locals happy to assist us with any queries. As there is no official tourist information centre. Kelso boasts two castles at least, Floors castle with beautiful grounds to walk around. Two cafes, one in the castle grounds and one called the terrace cafe where a visitor can purchase tickets to visit the beautiful gardens behind the cafe. Then there is Roxburgh Castle also very impressive. The river Tweed runs beside Kelso creating a beautiful setting, along with the picturesque old Abbey. The market town of Kelso has a pretty square, it is a town full of history being in the borders. So well placed for visits further afield. Definitely recommend a visit to this town.
From the free charging of my electric car, right up until the late check granted FOC by the staff this is perfect hotel for a work / pleasure balance.
The room was comfortable, clean and welcoming as were every member of staff, from the reception, bar, spa and restaurant.
The gym and pool must have special mention. The gym was quiet and well equipped. The outdoor pool, heated to 30 degrees c, was a special treat considering the weather was rather inclement at -5 degrees
The apartment was very comfortable and the living-room spacious. The kitchen was very well equipped and we had everything we needed to cook for ourselves. Because the apartment is near the town square it was close to several restaurants. We enjoyed burgers and a steak at the Saddler's in the Cross Keys Hotel plus the food at the nearby Contented Vine. The bookshop in the town square was well worth a visit - a great range for a relatively small shop.
The property is ideally suited for exploring the Scottish Borders and all this beautiful area has to offer. There is a comfortable double (with a further single off it suitable perhaps got a child and smother single bedroom. There is a further double that pulls down from a cupboard in the sitting room so plenty of beds for a family of any size. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a good dining room off this. Would thoroughly recommend.

It had everything you need, nice, clean and cosy home. Bed was nice and comfortable. It is next door to a little local store where you can get anything you might have forgotten. Takes around 15 minutes to get to Kelso, and approx 1h and 20 min till Edinburgh. Definitely would stay again. ☺️
