Boutique-style Silver Award accommodation, full of character and surrounded by charming gardens; this Victorian guest house is 2 minutes from the M65 freeway and is a great value.
Score from 52 reviews Very good
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and breakfasts really set you up for the day. The use of the spa facilities was a real bonus.
Initially put in a room above the sauna. Spent a very hot and uncomfortable first night with little sleep. It might have helped to have more than one air conditioning unit. However the staff however sorted out a change of room the next day and also a meal, great customer service.
The grounds; fountain and courtyard
reception and all the staff were polite pool was nice if not a little too warm ,so not as refreshing as i would have liked room nice and clean
room was a long walk .
Good facilities and transport links. The pool and gym were excellent. Staff very friendly
Nobody to help me bring my two under five year old boys and all the bags into the hotel and to my room. Staff in the spa were overstretched and the need to keep a paper copy of the room number to use facilities. The pull out sofa bed was very uncomfortable
Location - general atmosphere - parkin
Very poor reception check in procedure - one couple was in front of me and there was one person checking yet 2 staff in reception doing other things - clearly could see me. I had to wait nearly 15 minutes. Not very good service at all
The spa was great. The lamb was superb.
Beautiful estate setting in country with a very relaxing appeal. Many fitness classes available of varying sorts included with the stay. Pool was lovely and warm for relaxing swim. Spa treatments available if desired. Fabulous diverse breakfast with full spread of fresh fruit, cooked food, pastries and more. Restaurant food great as well. Relaxing stay. Staff were exemplary.
One of children's beds was pretty firm to point of hard to sleep on. Upper class feel to place that didn't feel young family friendly and more suited to adult travellers.
Staff were very pleasant. Service in restaurant was good and breakfast was of a good standard - even the toast was actually toasted! Executive room was a good size but should have a king size bed in it. Bathroom was good size also with a big corner shower unit. This place does a lot of weddings and because of its location attracts the locals which in my experience are a bit on the course side when supplied with alcohol or an Asian wedding which seemed to take over the whole hotel!
Long walk to Executive rooms but meant we were away from the riff raff and noise of wedding parties so only a little moan about that one. The biggest fault was there was no one on reception/security late evening - the first night my husband broke up a fight between 3 women, the one being attacked had 2 very upset young children watching, a member of staff passed by, saw the commotion and made a run for it but I told him to get help to sort it out. The next evening we returned late 2am from a wedding and there was no one around at all, didn't see one single person on the long walk to our room! Mini bar in room is not a bar - no alcohol in it! Only 2 teabags on first morning and not much sugar or milk - most hotels do this - why?? I'm going to have to start taking my own supply. Tiles in the steam room need replacing where they are missing and the grout needs a good bleaching - it felt unclean. Lighting in room is rubbish for putting make up on ! I had to sit with hand mirror in window cill in the morning to put mine on.
The room was fab right near the leisure facilities. Big bed lovely clean adequate bathroom
There was nothing negative really
Great large room Spa facilities good with water in the pool a nice temperature Restaurant service and food good.
Long walk to room
the staff at reception, the room was fantastic, the spa facilities superb and a credit. even though there was a wedding on the day we arrived, we couldnt hear any noise.
the price of the massage was a little expensive at £40.00 and i think the girls do a great job on the basic hhourly amount they earn. should be paid a proper amount. the breakfast in the morning was good but we thought we were left too long to be offered coffee etc and when we had to ask it took about ten minutes to arrive.people who came in after us where seen before us.
We were put far away from the weddings in a very spacious room
The bed was far to soft and dipped in the middle --its why premier inn is so good.
Friendly Staff Leisure complex Variety of food
Cleanliness of rooms Bedrooms dated and a bit tatty Family changing room in the leisure complex was just the disabled toilet, and it stank!
The hotel has a number of areas, including some rooms around a courtyard. I think it is disgraceful that they think it is OK to surround families with toddlers with hen parties. Eventually got to sleep at about 3am when the screeching from upstairs and outside the window stopped
Comfort & Spa
Room leisure facilities
Rooms were comfy and quiet. Spacious room Ample parking
Couldn't book in a little earlier than 2 on even when I called two days in advance to arrange. The rooms are need of upgrading. Cracked tiles in bathroom sea lent gone a little black Decor needs upgrading
The comfort location spa practically everything
We left to soon should of stayed longer
The hotel was excellent we found it to be a clean and relaxing place to stay, the staff were extreamly friendly and helpful and the bar prices were reasonable, the breakfast was as good as any ware else I have stayed.
There is nothing to dislike about this hotel the only downfall is it's in blackburn which really isn't a nice place to go in my opinion
Lovely big room, comfortable bed. Efficient and friendly staff good leisure facilities. A location to make working away from home much more acceptable.
Nice spa area for a quick dunk and a steam. Not so good if you want a serious swim. Breakfast was fab and the hotel staff were on the whole very good.
The weekend we stayed, there was a wedding until 1am on Saturday and another event until 2am on Sunday. The bass from the disco of both could be heard through the walls of our room. Considering I had a 7 hr drive home on Monday, I was not very happy to be kept up so late particularly as it sleds itself as a 'spa' hotel, so u expect some relaxation. The internal rooms need sorting out as we had to go outside the hotel to get to the bar and spa due to private functions.
Staff were very welcoming and accommodating.
We didn't actually complain while we were there but I wish we had. Our toilet seat was broken, as was the door to bathroom and our lg didn't even have a proper mattress in her cot. If I knew there wouldn't be a mattress in there we would have brought one ourselves. The room was boiling without aircon or a fan.
Some of the staff were friendly. The spa facilities were ok.
We didn't get much sleep as our room was close to the function rooms. Both nights sleep were disrupted! Some of the staff were rude! Prices expensive for food and drink! Room was a long walk from any of the facilities!
