Robert,
Alloa
The Dunollie Hotel has magnificent views across the sea to Loch Kishorn and the Applecross Hills. The bright, airy restaurant has an excellent reputation locally, and looks out across the water where dolphins and whales can occasionally be sighted. There are similarly splendid views from many of the shore-side bedrooms. There hotel has a bar offering local malt whiskey and ales. Hotel Rooms: 80, Hotel Chain: Oxford Hotels & Inns.

Venue Our first room smelt appauling. The shower leaked and the drips were contained by arranging a number of towels round the shower head down into the bath. The tv did not work. Having asked to move we were placed in another room which given the price we were paying (£290 for a couple for 2 nights b&b) was a rip off. I understand that this was a booking.com mark up from the hotels cover price of £80 for a double per night (ie £160)but the £130 mark up for 2 nights was unacceptable.

No lift and bad access to hotel from car park would not be suitable for disabled or people with ill health (chest or heart problems)

The location and views were excellent, the bar and live music (although aimed at much older customers) were alos good. Breakfast as brilliant! The hotel seems a bit tired and run down. We only stayed for 1 night as a stop over, which was ok for our purposes, but I wouldn't have wanted to stay more than the night. Breakfast was brilliant though!

My wife and I have stayed several times before (each time for one night) at this hotel and, as expected, it was inexpensive and provided perfectly adequate accommodation and service for our purposes.

Location excellent with a fabulous view of the bay and sea from the room. Breakfast was great value for money with a good choice of Scottish breakfast or cold food, light and airy dining room with panoramic view of the sea. Hotel in general need of refurbishment, particularly the bathroom in our standard double room.

Location. Arrived at Dusk, and was easy to find. We had the best mince and steak pie at the pub recommended by the hotel. The pub was a few blocks down the street. If we go to Skye again we would eat at that pub. Sufficient parking. Next to a gas station and a market. Could be cleaner.

Found the staff particularly friendly and helpful. Room was bright and airy. Beds were extremely comfortable and linen was soft. Our privacy was respected and we were grateful for that. Concerns rather than complaints. Fabric of the building needs attention. Our bedroom window had a piece of wood nailed to the outside frame The bathroom door did not close as it had swollen and did not fit the door frame. We did report that the heater in the bathroom did not work. Being on the ground floor meant that the room upstairs had a squeaky floor which woke me three times during the night. The area to the front of hotel does need to be tended. General maintenance would make a tremendous difference to remove weeds and make the area look tidy. Just looked so neglected.

The best part for ourseves was the fact we could take our pet dog with us, this gave us the opportunity to go for our own walks and take the dog as well. The hotel on the whole was great. Staff were pleasant and the room was warm and very clean and comfortable. There was also onsite parking.

The view at dinner and breakfast from the restaurant which overlooks the sea was a surprising delight - if only the weather had been better it would have been breath taking. The general decoration in public areas as well as the bedroom is tired and shabby. The display cabinets in the reception area should either be filled or taken away for storage - surely with local crafts and art in abundance this is possible although the management do not seem to care. The courtyard garden requires removal of all the dead plants in pots and troughs and clear away staff's cigarette butts. To be on the Isle of Skye and not be able to have the local brew - even in bottles - is shameful.

Perfectly satisfactory hotel for 3 stars. Poor car parking ground. When I wanted to leave I was trapped in by another guest. Plenty of room in the roadside coach park but it was out of bounds for cars at all times.
