Friendly staff and atmospheric lounge
Bar area tucked away
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Hotel felt comfortable and welcoming. Sherry decanter in the lounge, a nice touch!
Limited range of wifi. Not available in far rooms but available in public rooms, though information pack did say this was case for some rooms. Didn't spoil anything.
Excellent standards through out. In a very quiet location near to whitby. Enjoyable stay would go again for those special occasions
Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms and common areas very clean. Food was excellent - lobster on the bar menu! Lounge area was a lovely room to relax in.
Arriving at night the parking areas were not very obvious.
the room, the bathroom, the atmosphere, the bar and the dining room.
the hot water in the taps was scalding, it is going to be fixed.
Excellent bar meal chef special.
Nothing to report
The house is full of character, the staff are very helpful and friendly. The location is wonderful if you enjoy exploring on foot. The lounge is stunning! Dinner is served in a beautiful dining room, it is well presented and of a very high quality.
Our bathroom lacked a walk-in shower. There was a bath with a shower over it which is inconvenient.
Lovely room, clean warm, staff very helpful we got an incredible deal because of the time of year, but would have payed a lot more.
Liked it all
The great location, close to Whitby but rural enough to enjoy the country scenery. An impressive Victorian mansion with many period features, sympathetically updated.
Some fittings in the bathroom hadn't been cleaned but the toilet and shower were clean.
Service Room Experience as a whole
everything about our stay was brilliant...
The location was perfect, secluded without being to far away from amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful and i liked the cabinets of of jet jewellery on sale etc. We also enjoyed the food in the restaurant in the evening and the choice of breakfast items in the morning.
Slow service, but was out of season so less staff to accommodate needs quickly.
The house has great character & is furnished to suit. I loved the whole ambiance of the place, it is all very comfortable. The staff were very welcoming. The breakfast menu was extensive but we opted for a full English, all food is locally sourced which arrived piping hot. The grounds were lovely too, can't wait to go back and see it in the spring/summer.
Nothing worth mentioning.
Lovely old characterful house Friendly staff Palatial room with views Excellent, warm comfort Good bar food and superb breakfasts Convenient for Sandsend and Whitby Good value
The good points far outweighed little niggles - we had a great time!
Good atmosphere from first entering Reception. Excellent food. Adequate shower room, comfortable twin beds.
Rattling windows, but the wind was exceptional.
The room and staff and meals were superb and amongst the best value anywhere in the world
Friendly & customer focussed staff, especially the multi skilled young blonde haired woman who worked on reception, in the bar and in the dining room. She is a credit to the hotel. Fantastic breakfast. Wonderful salmon & scrambled eggs etc for me and "berry heaven" for my fruit loving wife! Quiet rural location ideal for hiking base & access to Cleveland Way.
Beds are a little too firm for our liking.
we went just for 1 night as returning guests everything was excellent - lovely warm bedroom and friendly staff we will return again
The comfort & relaxation of dunsley. We return time & time again & it never disappoints.
We can't bring our dog.
We wernt allowed food untill after 8pm but was only available for 45 min as they had a party of 19 I'm sure a hotel should be able to cater for maximum guests and we sat 20min on morn and got told they didn't no how long we would have to wait for breakfast as they were cookin for the party of 19 our room gad dead flies cobwebs and was freezing
Great food Great value for money Excellent location
Myself and my partner stayed in room 17 which was a very good room except for the bed - the mattress was very much in need of replacement and my partner didn't get much sleep as a result.
+Breakfast is huge, cooked foods are delicious and a lot (they offered 3 dishes for 2 people and asked if we still wanted another dish?!) +Free private parking (the slot is quite narrow though) +Late night check-in
-The room we got looks very old-chinese-fashioned style. It's dim and a bit scary. its like for someone who actually live/lived there, not for a hotel customer -The bathroom made loud noise and some smell when we using hot water.
