Staff attitude -couldn't be more helpful; comfortable and pleasant decor; food excellent and not too expensive
Service friendliness and concern about detail
The hotel is comfortable and well-run with good staff. Breakfast is good with plenty of choice and cooked breakfast prepared to order.
Having to cross the busy main road which divides the hotel from the townhouse in which we stayed.
The decor Cleanliness Comfortable bed
Friendly, helpful staff, very clean and comfortable, quiet, lots of hot water and nice bathroom, enjoyed getting chocolates with tea and coffee-making facilities.
I would have preferred a room with a view to the street rather than staying in the undercroft, but we were out and about sightseeing until late both nights anyway.
Lovely bathroom, modern clean and very comfortable facilities.
Would have liked a view (we were in the undercroft) but were out all day until late so it didn't really matter.
A beautiful house ideally located near the city centre and airport, a very nice, small restaurant and bar, very friendly and helpful staff
Very friendly staff, eager to make you feel at home and happy Comfortable rooms Good food Half an hour walk to the city centre
Hotel split across the road - had to cross the road for food
Clean, stylish, comfortable
A little bit overpriced
good location away from the busy parts with good links to and from the airport and city centre. very helpful staff and clean, comfortable rooms. we had a great stay.
we stayed in the Dunstane city hotel which is across the road from the main hotel, so had to cross a sometime busy road to have breakfast. no real problem with this but I couldn't think of anything else to write.
Hot chocolate should be made with milk
All the staff was warm and helpful. Food was consistent and superb. Leave your car in their car park - access to city center is easy on the very frequent bus that stops literally at the doorstep. Will definitely book again for a trip to Edinburgh.
Luxury of the room and size. Staff very helpful and friendly. Gardens. Food good.
Lighting too dark to read at night in bed. And a long walk 25min to main centre of Edinburgh and railway station. Or a bus trip10-20min depending on traffic. No restaurants close by.
Staff were very friendly and helpful Parking was good Location was quite good Decorating/interior design was excellent Molton brown tolietries Good size tv Very clean - housekeeping excellent
No air conditioning Lumpy mattress (no mattress topper) I got NO sleep and quick look around the breakfast room told me I wasn't alone) Very small room for two people Breakfast ingredients were poor (juice was concentrated , toast was thin, pastries were huge and dry /stale, sausage was no better than supermarket one brand needed seasoning ... I could go on!) No umbrellas to assist with the walk between the buildings (running across the road in the rain to get breakfast isn't fun) No body lotion Towels were frayed Rubber mat was very yellow Musty smell in main reception ( an accumulation of cooking smells - incense or candles may help)
Restaurant very good, bus stop right in front of hotel
Being waken up every morning at 7 and not being able to sleep for the rest of the day due to continuous loud noise which really ruined my stay and holiday. I was given a room on the rear of the ground floor of the main building right next the staff back office + the room did not have a safe.
The breakfast was very good and the rooms were modern, clean and comfortable but smaller than expected
Crossing the A8 to get to breakfast
The food is fantastic and decor very smart. I had a single room which had all I required and very nicely done. Bus stop just outside hotel. Staff very helpfull.
The mattress was too firm for my bad back and they could not change the price of breakfast even though is only wanted an egg with toast.. £14 a bit expensive for that even with tea..
The hotel is located in a convenient location, close to a bus stop; from there it only takes 15 min to the city centre. The room was spacious and newly renovated, but lacked charm and natural light due to its location in the basement.
Breakfast was great, really set me up for the day. Liked the look of the dinner menu but our Commonwealth adventure meant we weren't back early enough.
The room was cosy, wouldn't want to have spent to much time in there but then I suppose that's the idea. Walk in Shower and décor was beautiful.
lovely room, very pleasant service and a superb breakfast
bit pricey for size of room As we were in separate part of hotel, had to cross the road for breakfast - no real problem as dry!!
Friendly and helpful staff
Old fixtures - e.g. in bathroom
Within easy distance to central Edinburgh. Hotel was lovely and clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff were fantastic!
The bathroom was far too small - for the price paid I would have expected a standard bathroom. WiFi connection was very temperamental and although it wasn't necessary, it would have been nice to have.
Our stay was a wonderful experience. The hosting team is a credit to their profession.
Good location for the town centre.
Location was very good with a bus stop directly outside for city centre access. Rooms were clean, in good condition and comfortable. Breaksfasts were very good and the quality of the meals served was also very good. The reception and breakfast staff were very helpful and attentive.
Only very minor - Dinner on the first night was a little slow and lacked organisation - The menu is limited and did not change for the 4 days of our visit - The bathroom in Room 5 is very small for the status of the room, none of which would stop us staying again.
