Location, friendliness, atmosphere, character
We enjoyed all aspects of our stay at the Marriott. All facilities excellent, staff pleasant, friendly and helpful.
Staff are wonderful, we stay here regularly. Breakfast is always of high quality produce.
Close to bars and restaurants and brilliant value for money!
The staff at this hotel (bar none) went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Attentive, friendly and smiling - thank you for making us so welcome. The hotel is situated in a fantastic central location where everything is within easy reach. We will certainly be recommending this hotel to anyone visiting Durham.
150 for one night was massively over priced. No DVD player. Bed was just two singles put together. Toiletries were practically none existent. Food and drink was hugely overpriced. Wouldn't recommend.
Upgrades to executive suite at no additional cost. Very nice
Rooms, Staff, Quality, all good as Marriott chain, breakfast was really good and locations is the best next to the river and just seconds to the town center
elevator maintenance, price slightly high
Room&furniture need renovation
Very good breakfast. Very good pool facilities. Upgrade to larger room. Well positioned for old town and Catherdral
Slightly tired feel to the hotel. Uninviting bar area.
Room was a good size and it was clean and fairly well appointed.
Third floor. No convenient lift. No air in room, so it was very hot and stuffy and therefore our quality of sleep was affected. Overall, décor was a bit tired.
Room was beautiful, Staff at reception very helpful, Very close to all Durham had to offer.
Price of a glass of wine in the bar, very expensive.
the large bed and room
drinks very expensive
room service was very quick and good food reception helpful Pool lovely
paying for carparking and paying for internet in room !
Lovely large bedroom which we found relaxing. Leisure facilities. Friendly staff. central location.
Breakfast was help yourself & get on with it.had to keep asking for food that had run out. disappointed with small helping of fish in fish & chip selection evening meal.ate out remainder of holiday.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful Although designed more as a leisure pool I very much enjoyed a peaceful early morning swim
Location Good bed Breakfast ok
Room was not cleaned on second day when we returned at 1645 Hotel is tired and not four star Staff were poor No fridge in room although place for one Not worth money
Staff could not have been nicer or more welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel had the atmosphere of a small place, not the impersonal feel of a big chain. Free upgrade was most welcome and a great location and easy to find from A1
Location of hotel, street markets, Castle, eateries, walks... And our hotel bedroom and breakfast.
Some staff weren't very friendly... No offers to help with cases... Lift being renovated, we were on 1st floor... No info from staff re leisure facilities.
Warm welcome from desk staff with a welcome drink readily available. The room was nice but fairly small despite booking superior room. Lovely breakfast.
Bathroom was a little grubby and mildewy. Leisure centre had limited facilities, jacuzzi, shower and plunge pool all out of action.
The location, the staff, the bed -extremely comfortable, lots of pillows, square ones too ( which i particularly like). We were upgraded on arrival, which made a nice surprise.
Car park? We found a place at 6PM, but could have been turned away a few minutes later, as it was virtually full.
The staff are the best! Great breakfast choice. Very comfy beds and pillows
The price. Feel it's overpriced for a Saturday night stay
