Location to town centre
The double glazed windows were pathetic, the wind and traffic noise just came through all night. When checking out the the young lad on the desk just laughed and said yeah they are all like that in that part of the Hotel. Pathetic
The one friendly girl at breakfast
Rooms in need of refurbishing. Broken toilet, bad lighting. Bar bright lacking any atmosphere. No assistance with baggage and a long walk and two elevators to room! Extra for parking overnight.
Location is good and staff well trained and very helpful overall
delux room poor value..one window looking onto a brick wall, room cold blankets and heater supplied.Bathroom entirely unheated and very cold and unwelcoming. When I questioned why the bathroom did not even have a heated towel rail the answer was "some rooms do some rooms don't" delux obviously don't.
Staff really helpful and polite, excellent location
Location was perfect
Room was a bit too warm and stuffy - had to open a window. Bathroom was due a refurbishment but nothing too bad.
Bed to hard drinks to expensive
No easy chair in our room because the settee was taken up by our granddaughters bed, the other chair in the room was not an easy chair. The food was very good if a little expensive
Great location. Parking. Complimentary upgrade. Food. Staff were so polite, helpful, happy. The smile makes all the difference. We would reccomend this hotel. Its fab!
Best pillows ever. Proximity to city
Restaurant a big disappointment and far too expensive! Public area carpets a disgrace in places and rooms in need of a coat of paint !
Location and car parking on site . Breakfast selection very good .
Price increase for room from Friday to Saturday , car park cost should be included in room tariff
The room was excellent and we had a lovely leisurely meal in the bar. Location was ideal to the shops and sites.
Breakfast was a disappointment as the hot meal were not particularly well cooked so left it and managed on fruit. We didn't get offered tea or coffee either. Staff were clearly too busy to notice.
Helpfulness of staff Food good 1812 staff exceptionally helpful.
Room 12 small and pokey for a double room. Furniture marked. No room for luggage rack. No tea, milk or biscuits on tray. Not up to standard of standard room at that price.
Wine and chocolate covered strawberries on arrival, a lovely touch!
Good location, old fashioned décor, room comfortable apart from bed. Staff helpful.
Bed very uncomfortable, there were numerous minor housekeeping niggles which were however promptly rectified. The bed (in a "supreme" room), was small and very uncomfortable, would not recommend this hotel!
Excellent stay. The staff and hotel provide excellent quality and service, which simply gets better with very stay.
Location good ,staff very helpful , breakfast very good
Paying a parking charge to use hotel carpark . People above us very noisy 3-4am . We were in a room away from the hotel . Although the room was beautiful .
The location was perfect for a visitor without means of transport as you could walk everywhere with ease.
The entrance of the hotel was tricky to find the first time but it was not a major issue
Was close to the town and cathedral but also quiet
Great location for the city centre
we arrived at hotel for a 50th birthday treat there was a bottle of wine waiting for us what a lovely touch room was fantastic had a great stay cant wait to return
the only negative side was we would have liked just a Panini or toastie on a night but no choice on menu we ordered a portion of chips and got 6 chips in a tiny basket
Free room upgrade
Amazing location, great rooms, staff extremely friendly and very helpful.
We seemed to fall into the middle of the double bed ...not the worst sleep but a new mattress maybe needed. Overall a lovely weekend though.
Excellent location and superb bedroom with plenty of room. Staff made every effort to help when needed BUT
I do wish that the hot breakfast buffet used warm plates - by the time you were back at your table the food was nearly cold! we stayed here last year and made the same comments so no improvement!!!
What we liked was everything, great location in the centre of Durham, very clean and comfortable room and hotel in general, staff very friendly and helpful, parking on site was a concern before arriving but no problem at all, what can you say more than we will return and next time bring friends.

Lovely and quiet room and comfortable bed meant a very good night's sleep. The pool is lovely although spoilt by having noisy children in there. Having adult only times available would help. Staff were delightful
Could do with soap in the bathroom. The two tiny tubes of hand wash did not really do the job. The rowing machine in the gym needs a service. The lift and my bathroom could do with some tlc
