Evening meal and food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly :-) we were visiting for a family party at the hotel and we were all made to feel very special ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The room and bathroom were very dated and could have done with some tlc. And there was no biscuits with the tea and coffee

Peaceful location and attentive service at breakfast from the very courteous gentleman from reception (?) who seemed to deal with everyone & everything single-handedly. Very ample and convenient parking Unfortunately, the shower head was heavily blocked by (dirty) limescale and only worked in the narrow jet mode. Also, the shower gel dispenser was empty. [Room 10]

The downstairs was lovely- Victorian grandeur. Sunday morning breakfast was excellant.Had a nice bar serving reasonably valued meals. A lovely big bathroom with bath, but very basic with soap etc. Poor quality thin pillows that only had a pillowcase on- no pillow protector underneath. Bathroom floor needed a good scrub- lots of scuff marks on floor covering and some nasty unidentifiable stuff which needed scraping off with a knife. It would have been nice to see a biscuit in the tea making facilities. Bathroom was lovely and big with a bath but very basic "extras"- just a container with bodywash/shampoo over the bath high on the wall and a similar container over the wash basin. So very little in the way of luxury.

, relaxing and comfortable, we are looking forward to staying again, also i enjoyed the choice of real ale's all in good condition like most hotels the wine is expensive, charge a more realistic price and you will sell more, this is a fact as a hotel i use has done this and enjoys a large turnover of wine

Traditional hotel with friendly staff and good quality, simple catering. We were there for a funeral (not the best of occasions) and were looked after very well.

The building was very nice and in a quiet location although amidst a housing estate which was a shame as I am sure it was not originally intended to be. Bedroom was basic but ok. Most of the staff were friendly and pleasant. Noise from the bar at 2.15am, No toiletries in bathroom (not even a piece of soap) Out of date milk in bedroom, tv control not working, Kettle not working, Poor/little choice on breakfast menu, Felt unsafe to leave window open in downstairs bedroom so no fresh air, and a surly member of staff that did not speak or smile and totally ignored me in the breakfast room.

Staff were pleasant and willing to help. Food was excellent. Room was not as I had booked being a kingsized double rather than a twin. It was not a superior room that I had paid for. We were moved to another twin room that was not superior but was adequate. Bathroom tiles were in need of re-grouting; skirting board in bathroom needed painting properly and tiles and mirror had not been dusted along top ledges for some time. Windows were open and it was difficult to close them as they were very high. We had to climb on a table to close them. Room was pleasantly appointed but let down by shabby bathroom . Lovely building with lots of original features but would benefit from a lift. The hard working staff made up for most of the deficits and the breakfast was brilliant. Would have preferred a bit more attention to cleaning and a lift would have been a real bonus. I would recommend this hotel but with some reservations.

Room was very comfortable , Breakfast was good. Littel things let it down ie. no T bags by the kettle , just coffee. Also no toiletries - shampoo, shower jell , just a small used piece of soap.

Good sized dining room and comfortable bar area Room comfort ie the one pillow was poor, room slightly chilly. Ensuite pretty basic. Staff no more than doing their job. A lot of confusion over the booking and payment details which when finally resolved was not apologised for. Breakfast was a bit mean ie either or choices such as juice or cereal not both with very limited selection. Overall poor but with different staff attitude and comforts that travellers expect then it could be a good hotel

The rooms were large and spacious, the bar and restaurant excellent, the staff very helpful. All in all a comfortable stay. The decor was a bit of a mixed bag, gothic mixed with modern.

The staff were brilliant,so friendly and helpful. The food was good quality and well presented. In the evenings,we used the bar which had a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Room we stayed in was average ,but clean and comfortable.Prices were very good. The hotel was a lovely building, however,it was a little 'tired' in some areas, owners need to spend money to bring it up to the standard it deserves. That would make it a cracking hotel.

The building has character, being the former home of David Brown of tractor fame. The setting feels like you are out in the country, but is very close to the local shops and a good bus service into Huddersfield for more shopping. Holmfirth is only a short drive away. The staff are friendly and helpful. A great breakfast is included in the price. Oh, and there are lovely gardens.

In a fairly good location Piad for a de-luxe room but was like a small travel lodge Room would hate to think what a standard double room would be like Breakfast small and made of cheap ingredients Little bits of type paper left here and there giving giving conficting instructions It seems there is a big cost cutting exercise going on and it shows with their lack of detail

Its situation was good enough for our visiting the holmfirth area. Control to TV not working Telephone in room not working Tables in bar area cleared of glasses but not wiped unless asked to do so. Breakfast and evening meal food was very good but service was very poor We found that certain staff on reception lacked personality and were quite miserable looking.
