Friendly staff, good food, good service, good location, good value. Entertainment every evening was mediocre, but OK for price. Overall a good value holiday, we would visit again if in Bournemouth. Room décor 'tired'. Could do with a make-over

Good location and car parking available for free Swimming pool was freezing cold, despite complaining it never warmed up. Advertised with spa pool, which was empty and not in use. Food was very cheap and basic, and the puddings were not made in house, they were very cheap and nasty frozen deserts, something like Tesco Value or Iceland

Head waiter Richard was very good and also the lady at reception was very good. Food was not as good as our last stay. We were able to change rooms due to our first room being over the kitchen and the smell was not good. On arrival we were given our key to room and told the room number and we had to return to reception has we could not find it as we were not given any directions. Water preasure on the 3rd floor was very poor on taps and shower. Food could have been better not a lot of flavour.

There wasn't anything I could honestly say I liked about this hotel. I have read other reviews and can't believe poeple are praising this grotty hotel I would class this hotel as a one star It's overpriced and there are many much better hotels at same price or less When I go away I just want a clean comfortable bed and really nice meals, sadly neither was available at Durley Grange Hotel I was expecting a room similar to the one shown online but I didn't get one The room was small with an uncomfortable bed disgusting carpet that should have been replaced years ago, there was no bath just a shower that bearly trickled any water out, the bathroom was carpeted and smelt of urine The food was all pre-cooked and just about edible. We booked for 3 nights but left after 2 rather than stay another night and that's not good

The food was excellent and the bedroom was very clean and comfortable. The bedroom needs needs decorating. It would also help if shower gel was provided or visitors were told that you do not provide this as most hotels do.

We were down in Bournmouth to see a show at the bic. We found this hotel was ideal for us. The staff are excellent and the food first class. Also the bic is within walking distance.

Not too large and friendly atmosphere. Room was pleasant although pillows a bit lumpy. Everything was clean and there was plenty of tea and coffee on the tray in the room The bath was slippery when you got in it to shower, a gripper mat would help.

The welcome.............the helpful staff............ The excellent food ......the muted music. The entertainment so varied and suitable for all ages and tastes. The tea and coffee provided in the rooms is not very nice.......so we just bring our own.

Location and parking availability Fine for what we wanted. Seemed an older clientele type of place - a blast from the past - nothing wrong with that though.

It is situated in quite a quiet location The beds were rather hard, and there were many small flights of stairs - difficult for people with walking difficulties. Also it was rather expensive.

Location. Pool and spapool both cold-advertsied as heated. Main reason for returning as winter holiday was for these facilities. Have been returning to Durley Grange for 20 years. Has lost it's appeal as being friendly, family orientated. Cleanliness very poor floor areas not hoovered and bath/shower mould and slime around soup dish and bath. Heating to room and hotel poor.

I liked Durley Grange Hotel because the staff were friendly and made me feel welcome. The food was very good. The hotel was situated close to the sea front and I was able to do a lot of walking, and also a lot of shopping as the town centre was also very near. Although I had booked a single room I found that I had been given a double room, for no extra charge.

“Paul and Avril were exceptional in the welcome we received on our arrival, and throughout our short stay, were made to feel very much at home. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere was almost tangible, and is something we have not encountered before. We can understand guests returning for second visits, and would not hesitate to recommend both Paul and Avril and of course The Blue Palms to others. The breakfasts were superb as well!” Julia, Crediton |
