Staff were friendly, rooms were comfortable and the food was fantastic
The furthest room and in need of modernisation. No bedside lamp.
Close to Bideford and coast. Good car parking. The room was adequate size and clean. Nice interior structure to Hotel.
Floor boards on some floors were noisy, this may cause a sleeping problem. The toaster used at breakfast time was very slow, this caused queues.
Staff very attentive and helpful. Reception area and downstairs areas very nice. Beds very comfortable. Check out 11 am and breakfast on Sundays 8:30 until 10:00 although this seemed flexible
Rooms 155 & 156 have industrial fans/vents right outside window very noisy. Floral decor in these rooms very mismatched, looks tired. Keep it plain.
Staff friendly and helpful Cooked breakfasts quick and table service good Parking plentiful
The décor was a bit tired in the area we were located and with wooden flooring you could hear people walking up and down the corridor. I didn't expect to have to pay for sauna so was put off.
The hotel ticked all the boxes, I would use it again, hopefully for a longer visit
excellent friendly staff
some of the furniture a little 'tired'
Despite four tour groups, the hotel never seemed crowded and the service was excellent
Smallish rooms. Not a brilliant bar menu unless you are keen on "popular" snacks
As a frequent visitor I am always struck by how good the staff are, especially in reception. On this visit I booked an evening meal and also received excellent service from the restaurant staff, despite being extremely busy.
The person in the next room snoring their head off with the window open - but not much they could do about that!!
The staff are lovely, very helpful, and plenty of them. We met some lovely people, the hotel seems to attract friendly folk. It does cater for coach parties but this does not interfere with the service, delays etc, there is room for all. The food was fresh and well cooked. We had room 118, which gave us a laugh, thank you Mr Bedford :o)
The hotel is a little tired, it has one foot in the past, and it doesn't quite know where to put the other foot. E.g. Wonderful fixtures and fittings in shared function rooms with horrible great brash modern banners and hoardings. 'Enjoy Our Lovely Breakfast', naff stuff. It does have a pool, outdoor as in the ad, but it is unheated. Absolutely freezing in August, I know because I went around the front of the hotel, through the arches, and then through the garden, and tested the water. Bone numbingly cold.
Very good for special Allergy diets. Friendly, welcoming.
Rather pricey. The décor badly needed updating.
Everything about this hotel was first class, from excellent customer service to excellent facilities including the entertainment :)
The evening meal was incredible value for money. The service was very good. The facilities available were excellent, e.g. spa etc.
Bathroom was really small!
Excellent staff, great breakfast, excellent bar food.
Noise from room above.
The Hotel was all I would have expected "and more" of Devon Hotels. Well done Durrant, I will be back
The Pizza's on the menu were very nice
1st room we stayed in smelt of damp and had mould all-round the window, we reported this 3 times, twice we were told the head of housekeeping would give it a thorough clean. This was not done, we were eventually moved to the penthouse suite, which on first appearances looked a lot better, it was not until closer inspection that we realised how bad the room was, walk in shower had a hole in the wall, pigeon droppings on the curtain rail in the bathroom, Spa bath did not work, shower screen was falling apart, shower over bath had to have the tap on at the same time and did not regulate the temperature at all, Bed was very uncomfortable with the springs digging in, the room was linked to a conference room in which the door did not shut and nor did half the windows and the swimming pool was filthy. The staff at the hotel although apologetic did not seem keen to actually do anything about the issues. We did report this as we were leaving as we were not aware of so many things not working until late at night. The only response we got was to email them the issues.
Well appointed hotel in an easy to find location that provides ready access to Exmoor and the North Devon Coast. Plenty of parking space and good sized rooms. Lots of facilities.
Rather gloomy interior, the wood panelled rooms make the place seem dark. Catering staff overwhealmed by the number of guests and were unable to meet the order for the much-publicised sandwiches despite waiting a long time. If you are going to promote a service, the hotel should ensure it has the staff to meet demand - not appologise or refund for not being able to meet.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was dated and wasn't as clean as one would expect as were other parts of the hotel, the mattress was very poor quality, the breakfast was below average. I expected more for £170 per night, I was very disappointed, I've had much better experiences in cheaper hotels.
Comfortable clean room, good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff.
Good location. Friendly staff. Good food.
Bedroom lighting not bright enough. No socket near mirror. Shower slow and leaked onto floor. Safety notice in bathroom hidden behind shaving mirror.
The location is perfect as it's quite close to all the main attractions. Great please just to sleep as comfortable and quiet.
Some of the staff were quite rude and unhelpful. Their mannerism needs improving. The hotel can be a bit dated so it needs refurbishing soon..
We have stayed in the durant hotel before for a longer stay with our family this time we only stayed for one night. The staff are very polite and helpful the food is excellent and would recommend staying there to all my friends and family.
The room was OK, but the bathroom was small, and it was a squeeze to get into the room as the large sink and cupboard were just inside the doorway. Not a good design at all especially if the guest was large or elderly.
Reception, bar, restaurant and staff were all very good. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast and bar food was excellent.
Room and corridors were a bit dark and dreary - in need of a makeover although bathroom was good. Poor shower. Large hotel a bit run down. Some effort was being made to update areas but a lot of work needs to be done to justify the high prices for basic rooms.
