We stayed for two nights at Duthus Lodge travelling with my husband's brother and his wife,we all loved this place, warm welcome, comfy, spotless rooms, great breakfast, excellent quiet location. Also the most gorgeous young bulldog called Archie, what a delight he was!

We had a good stay at Duthus Lodge and location is very good. They have parking and free street parking weekends. Breakfast was good and efficient. Owners are friendly.
Excellent staff and a great location.
Our room had a velux window in the ceiling and no other windows, I would go back to the hotel but wouldn't want to stay in that room again.
A beautiful, well maintained and cared for Lodge. My sister and I had a lovely stay in Edinburgh. Duthus Lodge has a great feel good factor to it, which made you feel safe and secure, like being at home. Staff and owners were lovely too. I could of easily called them mum and dad. Breakfast, my favorite part of the day was presented well, piping hot and tasted yummy. Room was spotless and comfortable- nice touches were the daily sweet, different biscuits and a bottle of water and the funny duck hairdryer. The Lodge 15-20 minute walk from center, but buses, trams and taxis run frequently along the way. Love Edinburgh, its people and all its local character, so much to see and do, they also serve the best rib eye steaks in their pubs!
I never like coming home!!
Walking distance to Edinburgh attractions Quiet nights Laundromat nearby Park nearby - great for kids Excellent breakfast in a beautiful room Host was kind and Archie the dog was so friendly
Family room in main house was not updated and a bit uncomfortable - beds were crammed in and there was no closet. Might help to replace one double bed with bunk beds. Bathroom and shower were frustratingly tiny
The location, owners and hotel were all great
Rooms were spotlessly clean, beds very comfortable, staff very friendly.
A bit too far from edingburgh town centre
The house was situated in an ideal spot. It was scrupulously clean. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast delicious. Archie was also a delight.
Position is great actually, a bit outside the town but on a frequent bus route. Very comfortable and quality surroundings. Archie.
It is fairly, but not very, close to a main road so with the windows open you can get some vehicle noise but nothing like what you get in the city centre.
A very friendly, clean & comfortable place to stay & relax. Murdo was a lovely gentleman - nothing too much trouble & a pleasure to meet and talk to him. A home from home.
nothing bad to report
Friendly owners, fantastic breakfast, comfortable and cosy room.
A lovely old house. Friendly owners, delicious breakfast and a peaceful night's sleep. Everything was just right. The highlight for us was Archie the dog what a character.Would come back again.
Warm friendly genuine service and very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area, a very pleasant stay and archie the bulldog completed the homely and relaxed atmosphere.
We stayed during the week and breakfast finished at 9am which is a little early for us when on holiday as we like a lie in!
The proprietors were friendly and accommodating. The location was great for us: we walked to Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, and Haymarket Train Station. We only took cabs to and from the airport (and there is even a tram for that, but the cab was only 20 pounds and worth the convenience).
Archie is an excellent asset to Duthus Lodge. Very homely place and comfy beds!

Lovely couple owning the place. Familiar feeling.
Nice but not so friendly looking bulldog scaring the kids. He was kept away mist of the time though.
Archie the dog was a fun addition to the trip, and host's hospitality was very good. Property is beautiful and really has a wonderful Scottish feel to it. Breakfast was filling.
The mile into town was too much for our 6 year old to make it back from. The additional bathroom on the second floor should probably be marked "private," so guests don't use it.
great location easy to find, just like being at home, and they have the most amazingly comfy beds and pillows
Excellent place to stay and the breakfast beautiful.
Great breakfast, helpful and friendly proprietor
Nice and well taken care villa, beautiful garden, comfortable and spot clean room. Location is very convenient, if not in the city center, still within walking distance (30 minutes) and with public transportation at the door. Staff is extremely friendly and with great attention to details. Delicious full Scottish breakfast, prepared and cooked by the owner. The owner, and his bulldog Archie, will do all they can to make sure you feel home and we did feel home and really enjoyed our stay. If you are considering Edinburgh as your next destination, Duthus Lodge is the place.
