no hot water or heating. Breakfast is cereal only, in Scotland you would expect a cooked one

dirty shower, bed where you felt every spring coming through, no internet connection from room, wind coming through the edges of the windows, room de-oderizers (4 total) placed all around the room, smell of the upper hallway, window coverings let too much light through.

Dave and Sharon made every effort to make my stay as comfortable and friendly as possible. No sensible request was too much trouble and they always had a smile on their faces.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. Saturday night in the bar downstairs was very pleasant, with local people who obviously knew each other gathering. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. The location is off the beaten track; we only stayed there because Edinburgh was completely booked up with Marathoners--but it was a nice surprise. Don't let the "Coal Town" part of the town's name put you off; the location is pretty, with no slag heaps or smoke stacks to be seen. A bit too much air freshener for my taste. But it wasn't oppressive like it is in some houses.

The B & B itself was quite run down but you could see that the owners were making efforts to renovate it. The owners themselves were wonderful very helpful and pleasant. Will be beautiful accommodation once it is all fixed up. Near a take-away and mini grocery store It needed a good thorough clean but it has changed hands a few times and that may be the reason.

Good value for money The rooms had sticky tables where they had not been wiped down. Some of the buscuits and milk sachets were out of date by nearly a year. There was no WIFI or DVD player instead there was a VCR with a collection of videos in the hall.

Needs to spend a bit of money on upgrading the rooms and general appearance. Kerb appearance needs looked at with outside lighting fixed or turned on. Some hanging baskets would also help with the general look.

The hotel rooms were clean and we had fresh towels daily. Breakfast was fantastic. The owners David and Sharon went out of their way to make us all feel welcome even to the point of altering the breakfast times to suit our schedule. The locals in the bar were all friendly and chatty. All in all a good stay and will be booking in around the same date next year. For the price it was excellent value and is a really good stop off or base for moving around the east coast area. Just try and remember you are not paying for the sail hotel so don't expect 7 star luxury.

I have absolutely nothing positive so say. I liked nothing about this hotel. The building is very dilapidated. Inside very very dirty and the host watched rather TV instead of cleaning this place of dirt. Every positive comments left here must be either a joke or a fake. I recommend the following: Stay away from this hotel and booking.com: Please remove this hotel from your site. It is a disgrace. This place was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Way too expensive, price is a rip off.
