The staff, location, clean rooms and other facilities. found it was quite easy to travel to city center. No smoking facility a big bonus.
Generally nice hotel.
Whilst some of the staff were very helpful and professional, it was let down by other members of staff being rude (on one occasion argumentative!) and pretty inept.
Everything about the hotel, the friendliness of the staff, especially the young girl that was serving in the dinning room on Sunday night around 7.30 and the two girls at breakfast on Monday morning.
This hotel is well placed and is absolutely beautiful with it's art deco styling and period features.
excellent venue. The ballroom is stunning. a great place to hold a function of any kind with fantastic staff. top marks.
Good location, friendly staff, excellent room - all adds up to an excellent hotel.
Nothing to say!
Good location for race course
Charged 4 star prices for 3 star service. Shower was very poor, tap in sink was too far away from basin so water everywhere except in the basin, television did not work.
The art deco design of the hotel was superb! Very tastefully and beautifully created. Very classy! Plus as an added bonus, the staff were so genuinely lovely, friendly and helpful
If I really was being very 'picky', I would comment on the sheets not being quite large enough to tuck under the mattress. But this was really no major problem!
Hotel was fine. Staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of car park space. Didn't have breakfast as I thought it was included in the booking but found out it wasn't, so wasn't going to pay £13.99 each for breakfast. But stayed last year and breakfast was fine then.
Very disappointed in rooms we where given (especially room 303) We booked the hotel in January for the races in Aug and my brothers birthday. We'd stayed here last year as the room we where given was lovely and very spacious which was an upgrade as we'd been double booked at the regent hotel. We where told the room was £130 and and we didn't have to pay any extra. But when I saw the same rooms booking it in January for £78, I snapped them up. But was totally disappointed with what we got. Room 303 was so small with a massive bed there was hardly any room to move in there. It also had no bath, just a shower room. Room 302 was a bit better but not worth £130. All together it was a bit of disappointment after what we got last year and for that reason I would not recommend this hotel, especially if they are charging them prices for what you get
Location, Decor, Cleanliness
Check in/out times
no fast checkout
friendly receptionist called ricky helped us with restaurants
waited over an hour for cooked breakfast but was delicious. Ate in the restaurant at night time and from receiving bread the starter arrived before we had finished and the main meal arrived as the starter dishes where removed, whole meal took 45 minutes bit too quick for my liking
its was ok
Decor in bar/lobby
quilt cover was ripped almost in 2..very disappointing
Staff very friendly. Comfortable nights sleep. Good breakfast.
On checking the website when we returned home - superior double room - not superior. Our room was nothing like the ones advertised on their website. It was advertised as having bath - no bath but a wet room. Very dangerous flooring when wet. Very small room - not the standard of 4 star.
Staff were so helpful and friendly, really give personal service. The lady maître d'hote in the restaurant is exceptionally good, really made a positive difference to a lovely evening.
Kitchen service was slow at both dinner and breakfast. Food was okay, could have been better, especially considering how long we waited for it (the waiting staff were apologetic and did all they could to chase things up).
Lovely Art Deco hotel. Very comfortable luxury room. Food also excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would visit again. Good base for visiting the area
art deco style decor. The ballroom a joy. Friendly conference manager Carla gave us some interesting background.Great position nr to town. Spacious car park.
No opening windows in room.Even with air con stuffy. Restaurant choices limited and service slow, but staff professional and polite.
Great staff, very welcoming, excellent service. Beautiful building
Hotel was excellently located for the race day stopover. Good range of quality food available and rooms were very well equipped and comfortable. Staff were very pleasant and apologetic? See below.
As stated the hotel was very good and staff very pleasant but apologetic as there weren't enough of them. On checking in the stated time was 14.00 on the Saturday afternoon which is Ok in itself. However the hotel was fully booked for the race day and thee was only one member of staff on for quite a while resulting in lengthy queues and a long wait. Again on check out on Sunday morning after a very good breakfast, but again only one member of staff on for checking out and paying the bill. This resulted in being stood there for over 40 minutes in a queue of over thirty people blocking the main foyer.
First time I stayed I was not able to have the breakfast I paid for as the restaurant had a 35 min waiting time and I had a train to catch. this time I had breakfast by being in restaurant at 8.00am!
Lack of staff in bar area after 10pm. unable to order any food after 10.00pm, had to order pizza in and eat in the bar area due to lack of staff able to make a sandwich!
This is our fifth year staying at the earl and we always enjoy it very much , the bedrooms are comfortable , the food is lovely and the staff are very helpful .
The card readers on the doors seemed to be having a few problems ! Taking several swipes to get the doors open, the tv in our room had no signal for most channels !
Friendly efficient attentive staff Comfortable quiet room
