We spent three delightful days at this hotel, it was our first visit and we will certainly consider staying here on future visits to Bournemouth. We choose it having read previous reviews and were not disappointed. The weather was disappointing during our stay, there is lots to do in Bournemouth, so staying in is no excuse, excellent shopping, sightseeing and eateries. We had a standard room, which is a fair size. A smallish shower windowless room, the extractor and lavatory mechanic's when in use are noisy, shower on the slow side but functional. The street is not too busy, being that its the service road for all the hotels facing the sea front, its not too noisy during the day and a peaceful nights sleep. Breakfast and dinner are serviced in an attractive large room accessed from the entry hallway, options for breakfast are fruits in syrup, choice of several different cereals, yogurt along with the 'full English', kippers and various ways with eggs, toast, jam and marmalade, enough to set one up for the day all service by courteous, attentive and efficient staff, the cooked breakfast and the dinner which we had on our first arriving on pipingly hot plates, which appreciated by the writer. Dinner needs to be reserved by 5.00pm and a menu is placed on the tables of the reception room [see photo of menu] was once again most enjoyable, reasonably priced and a convenient option. East Cliff Hotel is furnished in a style in keeping with the fact that this was once a family house of a 1940/50's movie actor Stewart Granger, located just a couple of minutes walk form East Overcliff Drive, accessible via the car park of Menzies Hotel, having crossed the road the lift to Undercliff Drive is a few footsteps away, there is a charge for this service, walking a few meters along there is the zig zag path to the beach, not advisable as it is steep in parts. Continue along this part to the centre of Bournemouth and onto the beach.

From the time we first arrived at the hotel we were made very welcome,we were shown to our room which was very clean and spacious. The food was excellent, particularily the breakfast. The staff were always friendly and there to help if required. We would return to this hotel again if needed to stay in bournemouth. There was nothing I didnt like about this hotel.

Friendly welcome and very helpful, made us feel at home and the breakfast was pretty damn good with a good selection of choice. We had a good sized family room with adjoining bedrooms. The old building had lots of character,,,,,, The bedroom we were in was in need of a bit of a spruce up.

Very friendly welcome, location of hotel very good, excellent breakfast. Hotel was in a very tired condition - needs a lot of tlc in fairness to the new owner they did inform us they only had the hotel for 8 weeks - perhaps they should have started a programme of renovation before opening to ensure better reviews. The room we had was very spacious unfortunately this room had a most uncomfortable bed! Was surprised to learn that towels were only changed every 3 days.

The ecc is a smaller hotel owned and operated very capably by the Slaney family. Having taken over this year they are carrying out a number of improvements, which do not detract from the pleasure of staying and are adding considerably to the look and feel of the rooms and facilities. Our room was very comfortable, the on-suite was more than adequate and the room facilities were excellent. We particularly liked the two-seater settee, which was great for lounging in front of the tv. Breakfast is first class and well served and evening meals have that genuine home cooked feel if you choose to eat in. Location is very good for all Bmouth has to offer. We would most certainly stay again if we are in Bmouth. The hotel is work in progress accept this and enjoy your stay!!!

It was on a quiet, leafy street, but only 1-2 blocks from the beachfront. The bedroom and bathroom were large. The breakfast was delicious. It was an old building, so the mechanicals were just as old-a short, narrow v-shaped tub, which made a shower or a bath a little different. Ceiling was sloped, so the mirror over the sink was way too low.

Breakfast. Large bedroom ( Superior room ). Disappointing. Shabby & uncared for. Needed lots of tlc and to be more welcoming. Hallway, lounge and dining room felt bare. Host should close the door to own room so that guests are not confronted by the mess and peeling wallpaper. The house has some lovely features, ie fireplaces, but in the dining room hidden by stored chairs and tables. The bath in the Superior room (2) needed resurfacing or replacing. There was nowhere to site the shower head, the fitting on the wall did not match the shower head. Overall the place felt unready to receive guests.

Staff were most friendly and helpful. Our breakfast's were lovely, good choice and all cooked to order. The room we stayed in did need some modernisation and the shower was very poor ie; no pressure. We were on the top floor.

Helpful staff, starting with a tray of tea as soon as we arrived, carried bags to our room. Good quality breakfast. Very quiet location so a peaceful night's sleep. Tiny en suite shower room which could do with some refurb.

Main reason for going away was for a rest, which we got. Hotel and room was very clean and the staff where accommodating. Had our evening meal at the hotel on the first night and the food was good and the staff where happy to provide any requests. Stayed in a superior room which was large and airy and plainly decorated. A nice big bed and the tv was of a reasonable size which was a bonus. The only one disappointment was the size of the bath, unfortunately not a rolltop one. I am a small person myself (just short of 5'5 and weighing in at just under 8 stone) but I found the bath very small and had to perform some impressive gynastics in order to wash myself, I also managed to grate off most of the skin from my elbows and behind from the none slip bath coating in the process, not to worry though as I am sure it will grow back again. Apart from that a very pleasant stay and would definately consider staying again or recommending to a friend.

Has a homely feel, with fireplace (non-functioning) and cosy decorations in the bedroom. Very good cooked veggie breakfast in tastefully decorated dining room. Bedding and furnishings clean, but carpet had a few marks on it. Advertised as former home of actor Stuart Granger, and has a plaque outside, but I couldn't see any photos or printed material about this. Some old fashioned electrics, with visible wiring, and the shower could do with re-grouting.

The room was spacious and well appointed. In addition wide screen TV and free wi-fi made it more comfortable. The free chocolates have done nothing to influence my comments. The shower had low water pressure and it was difficult to regulate the water temperature.
