Location,staff and cleanliness.
The only thing good about east cliff cottage was the comfy bed and the breakfast.
However the rest of the stay was poor. The cleanliness of the room was awful, the light switch in the room does not work only the ones above the bed. The toilet doesn't flush properly, the shower floods and takes ages to go down the plug hole. There was one spare plug as the other two were in use from the fridge and television. The sink was in our bedroom which was very annoying. There was also a lack of wardrobe space. When walking to the town 'the square' it was a good 20 minute walk with hills when booking we was actually told that it was only a 10 minute stroll down the road. It wasn't.
Friendly Staff. Excellent rooms. Lovely Breakfast
Downstairs needs updating
The owner met us upon a late arrival from the Ferry and helped us to our room carrying luggage. The breakfast was really good. This was the most friendly staff we enjoyed on our two week journey,
A friendly atmosphere, welcoming staff and a lovely room Thank you

Welcomed Excellent breakfast
The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was top quality and very generous. The rooms have recently been tastefully renovated. The room was comfortable and large. Location was perfect for beach walks, being one leafy street back from the esplanade. Off street parking was appreciated too.
You need a car navigator system to find your way around Bournemouth but at least it is an easy walk to shops and parks and gardens so you don't need to use the car much. The outside appearance looks a bit tired. But, I suspect this has been deliberately left unrenovated to retain the original character of the building.
Location Quiet Cool (temp) rooms Breakfast Character
My room / bathroom needed renovation
The bedroom was really lovely and clean and looks very new and comfortable.
There is no resturant just some tables in a room, with no bar as such, so you have to go out if you want to relax in a nice place. Needs a lot of work downstairs.
The location was good as it was convenient to get to other places I.E the beach ECT.
The room was very hot without air con/fans which would have improved matters.
I liked the warm welcome and cup of tea and biscuits when we arrived. The room was lovely and spacious with lovely little touches like the little fridge with milk in it for teas and coffee. Clean and modern bathroom. Lovely breakfast
Not much. Downstairs toilet was a bit run down and had a dirty towel hanging up. When looking on website to see what was in the room eg hair dryer, I couldn't find that info so ended up bringing one only to find they provided one but i might not of looked hard enough
Friendly, family run, homely small hotel
The bed was good.
Dirty and outdated bathroom. The garden looked like a mess. No value for money.
Excellent will go back
We have just spent three nights in this charming hotel, with staff who did everything they could to make our stay perfect, they achieved 100%. Our room was spacious and our refurbished bathroom was a dream, power shower and all. Breakfast was cooked to perfection, was plentiful, setting us up for the day. Kym and Andrew are working so hard to restore this hotel, please remember this hotel is 100 years old, will have creak's in the floor boards, but this is part of its character, it was a privilege to return, we will certainly be returning again to this lovely friendly family run hotel, thank you Andrew and Kym or making us so welcome.
A lovely hotel in an excellent location. We were allowed to take our dog for a very small supplement. The owners even went and got our dog out of our room when he was unhappy when we went out for dinner and took him down to their part of the hotel! Our room was huge with a very nice en-suite.
The outside needs tidying up but they've obviously concentrating on the inside first.
Friendly atmosphere and food excellent.
Need to complete renovations before able to recommend
The building, the staff
The building work being carried out
I had a great stay with my dog who was made very welcome. Andrew even entertained him for a few minutes so I could enjoy my breakfast (including perfect poached eggs!) in peace. I will definitely be back again.
The location is excellent - close to the beach and Bournemouth pier, but very quiet. The house itself is quite cute. The owners are friendly and eager to accommodate customers' needs. Breakfast was decent.
Although our room seems to have been recently redecorated it was definitely a DIY attempt, with tiles not cut professionally and carpets not fitted properly. The shower room and the toilet looked shabby and not decorated for quite some time. The shower tray needs replacing. The shower hose is very short. Besides, it's fixed to the pipe, which makes it awkward to use. The taps in the bedroom sink were not fixed well, so one needed both hands to turn them on and off. All in all it was far too expensive for this kind of accommodation.
Bed was comfortable breakfast wasnt bad either
The Room, bathroom which was actually a seperate shower room and seperate toilet Sink in bedroom that was coming away from the wall. Agreed its an old house but most of the floor boards in the room were creaky. Didnt like the fact that the website states that all rooms have private bathrooms, not the case with room 5 quirky as the owners call it. if it doesnt have a private bathroom then state it on the website. we gave the room one night and then when we returned after working in the morning the wc wasnt cleaned the floor was dirty. I cannot believe they can charge £80 for a room that is of that quality. We left and booked into a premier inn for £6 less that east cliff were charging. Towels changed daily and most of all rooms clean and tidy oh and they have a private bathroom not toilet and shower rooms that if the interlinking door between both corridors isnt locked anybody can use Not a lot more to say other than i will be informing as many people as possible not to use this hotel. So take heed stay clear of this one
Room very nice staff very friendly good location as very near beach and very quiet at night bed very comfortable enjoyed our stay
The Outside of the building needs painting along with the dining room and lounge area needs a good Hoover around everywhere but all of this seems to be a working progress
We liked staff and food
The bathroom at the moment very cold.
Lovely place to stay if you want small and quiet made a change from noisy hotels. Run by a lovely family that nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast and service was exceptional would stay again.
