It was in alovely spot and so homely, quiet and comfy
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious (both breakfast and the bar meals). Spacious rooms, excellent location for getting to Scarborough and surrounding area by car. Quiet location.
The hotel is a little shabby and could have been cleaner. Public areas such as the staircase and dining room were not vacuumed regularly (not at all during my 5 day stay) and there was poor attention to detail. In the room I was first allocated the radiator didn't work (I stayed in Oct), the bathroom light didn't work and the room hadn't been vacuumed or the bathroom bin emptied. I complained and they were understanding and moved rooms without fuss. The second room was a big improvement, although the bed was very soft.
Food was good, but just a little over priced
Lay out of bedroom, no electric point near mirrow for my wife to dry hair. I had to crawle under dressing table to plug it in. Couldnt watch TV from bed, only ! chair in room. Place needed painting.
Gorgeous location - very quiet Very kind and friendly staff Nice outside access to rooms Delicious breakfast Lovely large room and bathroom
Need bit more lighting on stairs up to guest's rooms
Friendly staff willing to assist you with any problems, Breakfast was excellent Nice location Scarborough not far. Plenty of parking space. Rooms clean and tidy
The place is a bit tired shabby dark brown bedroom doors not all lights working in room.
Staff attitudes; food, location; possibly the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in.
Somewhat frayed around the edges and in need of some TLC.
Usual welcome, good food and service, competitive pricing.
Visited the lodge many times before always a winner in my book and will continue to use in the future.
Value for money good position for Yorkshire Moors and Scarborough and pleasant and helpful staff
Rather shabby and drab interior to main hotel area
Location for visiting friends in Cayton + Pickering
Food - breakfast good. Dinner - very good. Most of the staff were very friendly. Parking good. Well situated for days out. Eating places (and pubs) within walking distance.
Very, very hot - radiators had broken valves so we had to leave the window open and with a gravelled car park beneath, it was very noisy. The shower needs replacing, no spray just a trickle of water. Generally, everywhere needs a facelift but it was adequate and there were more good points than bad.
The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was well presented and enjoyable.
There was a lot of noise from the plumbing, pipes banging, sounded like some one was vacuuming all through the night, and you could here the guests above moving about all the time. Could not get to sleep for the racket.
Location, look of the main building.
Dated tired rooms...untidy grounds...tired bar area, messy reception.
friendly and helpful staff great breakfast public areas nice Daughters twin room in courtyard much bigger/nicer/modern bathroom POSITIVES OUTWEIGH FAULTS
small double room awkward outdated bathroom "details" in both rooms let place down, such as broken blind in double, and curtains that didn't cover window in twin. Dinner menu uninspiring.
Bed was so comfortable Room was a nice size
Shower didn't work Doors didn't seem very secure as we were under the impression all keys to rooms were master keys are you had to lock the hotel door yourself if you were back after 11 with your room key
We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at East Ayton Lodge and the situation was ideal for the places that we planned to visit.
It's not a criticism really the room was a little too warm for sleeping at night probably due to the very warm weather for the time of year.
East Ayton Lodge has bags of character and is set in leafy grounds. The main hotel building is very old and atmospheric. The staff were very helpful and the service was prompt. It was lovely to be so close to country walks and the coast.
Sadly, there appears to be very little ongoing maintenance at the hotel and our room and the public areas were all in need of a lick of paint, new carpets and more thorough cleaning. This hotel could be so much nicer with a bit of TLC.
Price Breakfast Comfort
The only thing we could complain about was the heating but that was literately the tiniest thing!
Friendly atmosphere, bar and restaurant good, safe parking
Mattress too soft on the beds
My husband is 92 and I am 86 so requested no stairs unfortunatly they were fairly full so we had 2 flights of stairs but on the whole they did carry our luggage down and it was a nice break
Very friendly staff. Will use again.
This is an excellent choice for your stay and I have stayed on two occasions on Buisness and on this occasion I had to check out early and unexpectedly and the staff were so helpful. The food is great too would recommend highly
We found The staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and tidy. The lodge is in a ideal position for access to the coast but off the main access. Breakfast was very good good value for your money. Will stay there again
Corridors were dark and in need of a uplift. Carpet in room was ill fitted in places. Seal round bath was poorly done. Blown Lightbulbs were not replacedSmall things like this could easily be rectified at a small cost
Great relaxed atmosphere; good well prepared and served food; nice spacious rooms; super staff - Nikki, Sandra, Daniella - its the people that make the place! Thanks team - will be back next Saturday with 50 pals! Couldn't have a better recommendation than that!
wifi iffy in places
breakfast very good but expensive
my one and only evening meal was disgusting fish almost black chips never seen chips like them dark brown limp cooked yesterday and reheated and for that almost ten quid
