Eastbury HotelLong Street, DT9 3BY Sherborne (Show map) Excellent, Score from 42 reviews“The restaurant was relaxed and welcoming and the food very good. I also liked the building which was attractive and full of character.”
Margaret,
Sidmouth
In Georgian days, the Eastbury was a private residence. It is now an elegant hotel with peaceful grounds and excellent food, offering free parking. The Eastbury Hotel is located in a quiet area, in the heart of Sherborne, just a 5-minute walk from the Sherborne Abbey and the town's main shopping street. The hotel staff have a good local knowledge and can recommend things to do and see in the area. The rooms have been individually decorated and furnished and all have a private bathroom. Each bedroom has luxury bathrobes, satellite TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The award-winning Conservatory Restaurant is a popular place to enjoy the highest quality, freshest local ingredients. It overlooks the hotel’s beautiful grounds and open-air dining is available on warm evenings. The bar/lounge serves snacks and afternoon tea. Hotel Rooms: 23

Location is convenient if you have to be in the centre of Sherborne. Very noisy room. Laundy (?) machine running somewhere in the surrounding area during the night. Single glazing only on busy(ish) road -this kept me awake at times.Creaking floorboards. Lots of noises from other guests / rooms. Breakfast service is friendly but unnecessarily complicated, leading to inefficiencies - instead of bottles of sauces at breakfast, the staff spoon sauces onto your bacon & eggs. If the staff is too busy for this, you either end up with a cold (cooked) breakfast with sauce or doing without. This is not necessary. Don't like having my name placed on a card on the breakfast table. Why not just work with the more anonymous room number(s)? Lack of adequate parking.

The location of Eastbury was excellent.. the staff were very friendly.. the rooms were clean and beautifully presented.. the food was lovely including the breakfast ( although slightly too much cheese on the cheese and ham board).. The garden was a beautifully peaceful place to sit! Errr there was nothing I didn't like to be honest!!!

Convenient location in town, quiet and comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We were particularly delighted with the breakfast menu which featured many foods locally sourced. We did not have the opportunity to try the evening menu as the restaurant was closed for the Christmas break. Maybe next time.

Good service at a fair price and situated within easy reach of the centre of town. It has a restaurant which is useful for an evening meal. Bedroom walls a bit thin - can hear tv (and snoring!) from adjoining rooms.

The hotel is very comfortable and clean. It is also extremly well located being centrally located in Sherborne. The room I stayed in was well equiped, and the bed was extremely comfortable. I found the menu and food excellent, with all the food locally sourced. It is a small boutique hotel, so I thought that for the room, superb dinner and breakfast it was excellent value for money.

Excellent service and accommodation. Very good restaurant. No lifts but the website warns on this. No aircon so although we were there in Autumn, the room was very hot, and summer could be a problem.

We had an excellent stay with the eastbury for a sibligs reunion. We had a delicious meal, which though rather expensive, was superb. Our breakfasts also were beautifully cooked and presented, delivered to our table by our efficient and friendly waiter - alan. A nice little garden enables a welcome breath of fresh air, with car parking secreted behind the garden wall. Fashionable shops, gift shops, good food shops and two supermarkets are easily accessible. Two castles, the abbey, a wealth of historic buildings all on the doorstep. Fancy a curry we recommend the Paprika. Only one of my sisters was a little unhappy with noise from the rooms above. However the staff promised next time she stays they will accommodate here in the ´stables´.

The staff realised that I was one of a party of three, each of whom was operating independently but each of whom needed to operate alongside the other two. That was intelligent and very helpful. Nothing - except the bed was too soft (but is that a complaint?)

The restaurant was relaxed and welcoming and the food very good. I also liked the building which was attractive and full of character. My single room was too small and rather chilly - the heating was not on.
