Score from 441 reviews Good
Opened on Queen Victoria's coronation day in June 1838, the Royal Bath Hotel was the first hotel in Bournemouth. It offers 3 hotel restaurants, a health spa and lovely sea views.
Score from 2067 reviews Good
The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff and the good food. The bed was very comfortable and the room well appointed.
the staff were just wonderful.
The room service meal arrived cold to us. The hotel may want to invest in plates that can be heated up before serving the dish like many restaurants do.
Lovely welcome, great staff, nice bar area, good breakfast.
Mattress had seen better days, not very comfortable.
The hotel is clean and the staff always very pleasant. Overlooks the sea and close to beach.
Pillows a bit hard seen better days. Bed comfy and nice room. Great breakfast.
The room. It was spacious with a fantastic view and very comfortable.
Bathroom needed upgrading
The location is extremely pleasant and so are the staff. All was very clean.
The hotel is by the beach. It has free parking and is close to the town center.
friendly staff, comfy bed
cold shower, miniscule bathroom, over priced food/drinks £8.00 a glass of wine, greasy fish and undercooked chips.
nice room very comfy bed nice views from room1103 friendly staff
outside swimming pool not in use but looked un loved
Food, staff, position.
Shower room too small for a 4 star hotel. door did not open fully so very difficult to get into. Both and shower taps very stiff to operate. Cracked tiles around bath and shower screen.
Good size bedroom, clean and friendly staff. Good breakfast. 15 minute walk to town. Lovely views if on seaward side of hotel.
pool facilities and gym located in hotel next door
The ambience in the dining room. Excellent service and delicious food. The hotel was lovely and warm. Plenty of hot water.
Just a very minor point. The pillows were hard.
The bed was very comfortable which was important as I have a back problem. Service throughout the hotel was very good. All staff were very polite, courteous and friendly.
There were steps everywhere, which was inconvenient as I have a back problem! There were steps into the Lobby area and I was on the Mezzanine level which is not accessible by lift. On that level there are so many steps to go up and down. The Wifi signal was good but I had to login again every few minutes. Dinner was good quality but the menu doesn't give all of the information and it was expensive compared to other hotels in the area. The radiator in the bathroom was far too small for the size of the bathroom. On two cold February nights it barely made a difference!
The room was good nice bed nice all over lovely breakfast staff very helpful .
Reception staff very helpful and friendly. The room we had (family room) was spacious and clean. Good sea views from grounds and some if rooms
Dinner in the evening was very poor. Some of the food was cold when served and had to send it back. Burger was cheap and nasty. Fish cake was mediocre. Bar man was very miserable and unhelpful and extremely irritating as he threw empty bottles into the bin which made a crashing noise every time they landed! No need to make quite that much noise.
The bar area with pianist was lovely. Friendly bar staff who offered recommendations and was happy to chat. The hotel is nice and clean and represents its four star rating well. The room was modern and spacious with a view of the sea. The bed was flat and hard...I slept well but my partner thought it was uncomfortable.
The cooked breakfast was not very hot due to being self-service. I'm guessing the lamps were not hot enough. Some of the bathroom tiles could have been cleaner.
They are generous with tea and coffee, towels were lovely and fluffy and they had a heated radiator in the bathroom which was great as it got abit cold in the bathroom. The rooms were really clean and I liked the big mirrors. Staff were all really attentive and friendly, from reception to the household staf, they all looked like the enjoyed their job which was nice to see. Breakfast was good - fried/cooked hot breakfast, fruit and yogurt, toast , cereals and the most delicious warm crusty croissants - I had two, they were so good!
We paid £122 for one night with breakfast included. It was a little steep, would probably say it was realistically more an £80 a night hotel for the room we had but all in all a very good hotel. Would recommend and stay again.
The staff are truly excellent, very helpful, very friendly. If you like a sea view, the hotel setting is great: the room I had was not a 'sea view room', but I still had a very good vista of Poole Harbour. Comfortable and warm for February.
The single lift broke down the first day, leaving a single narrow staircase. The wifi is BTOpenzone which is easily accessed from a PC or Mac laptop, but is very iffy on a tablet or iPhone. The breakfast is nice, but can be tepid if you don't arrive at the right time. Hotel might consider providing a loo brush in bathrooms!
Perfect location to local bars, restaurants, clubs, beach. Lots of things to do. Hotel was very clean, bed was so comfy! Staff we're very helpful, always smiling, nothing to much to ask for.
Bath room could do with upgrading
Food overall was fine
Breakfast could have been hotter
Evening meals were excellent and well presented. There was a good choice at breakfast.
The cooked breakfast was luke warm. Only one easy chair in the bedroom.
