Excellent location - but then that is reflected in the price! It was perfect for our particular needs , a family wedding group. |

Very comfortable bed linen. Location. The price of the rooms (£179 + £169), was simply outrageous. The staff were surly to the point of being rude; the barstaff were utterly hopeless; the rates didn't include breakfast and there was not a word of thanks offered when I paid the enormous bill. They overcharged me at the bar too. For this sort of money I expect service and respect. Neither was apparent. Quite, quite disgraceful. |

Air conditioning on a very hot day. Comfortable room. Helpful staff. Convenient location. Slight disadvantage of valet parking because car park is cramped but for central Oxford the parking itself was an advantage. |

Clean, pleasant bathroom. Good house-keeping effort. Great location. 1. The scaffolding outside the room 2. No ashtray provided in what was a smoking room 3. TV programmes indicated as available were in fact not available & the reception quality was awful. 4. At he very least mineral water should be provided in the mini-bar - it was empty |

A general feeling of things being pretty well under control. Central position, at least for our purposes. Friendly and helpful reception staff on arrival and departure. The upgrade works, particularly in the bedrooms (we have known the Eastgate for nearly 50 years). Excellent breakfast. Dead lightbulb over wash handbasin, unacceptable at this pretty steep tariff. Again, prescriptive timing for access and departure unusual for this category. Frenchstyle service a little cool for some, maybe, but this is accor, and we found it correct enough - it simply lacks warmth. it's a city hotel though and we only stayed one night. Non-smoking room requested on booking. Smoking room allocated, without apology. |

Wireless internet, large rooms, clean and new, proximity to city centre. No elevator to our rooms, very poor reception staff (except for one young man who was helpful), poor service at breakfasts. Two separate taps in the washbasin - highly irritating for non-Brits. |

Pleasant overworked dining room staff. Helpful manager (when I complained!).Perfect situation in city. Over-priced and pretentious. Very uncomfy mattress in my "newly-refurbished deluxe room" which I had forked out for as it was a stressful visit with an adult son in hospital. Important wake-up call forgotten. Food limited, not veggie-friendly at all, and room service involved a palaver..an hour's wait and the poor waiter had to carry an incredibly heavy slate platter (why?..."lifestyle"..?? |

Comfortable bed. Good facilities in the room. Close to city centre. On arrival they told us there had been an error and we would have to transfer to another hotel. The young man on reception was not apologetic nor very communicative. He spent 10 minutes phoning other hotels, none of which had a room for us. Eventually he said he had found a room for us at Mercure Eastgate after all. |

Friendly, young staff; great location, comfortable rooms. Although I had put the 'relax' thing on the outside of the door; certain hotel staff kept on coming in thinking I had forgot it there and gone out. This was a bit annoying. Also, their laundry facility is closed on Sundays, or weekends, and holidays. |

The hotel was centrally located Staff helpful and the accomodation was very good. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. We had been invited to a parents dinner by our son's college and the night porter very kindly opened the bar for our friends when we returned from the dinner so we could all have a night cap. This was much appreciated by all and rounded off an excellent evening. |
