Just a few minutes’ walk from Oxford city center, the Head of the River is on the banks of the scenic Thames River. The traditional inn features a riverside terrace and a stylish restaurant.

Location, good service, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast at a reasonable price.
Rooms a bit tired, no TV sports channels in public or other rooms, having to pay for parking as room rates are quite high for hotel of this quality.
Location. Quality of food. General service
Slow booking in process with system advised as new. No tomato juice at bar
location staff and breakfast were good
wifi pillows and air con
Staff incredibly polite and friendly. Location excellent and period features of building lovely. Breakfast choice fantastic, if pricey.
Twin rooms requested months in advance but not available at check-in leaving it rather awkward for mother and 30 yr old son in party! Really noisy generator outside window of one room that is incredibly loud and on 24/7. Some parts in need of a refurb.
The hotel is located on the main street of Oxford, near bus stops, in the centre of Oxford. Exellent view, helpful stuff, easy-acess WiFi. We stay here each time we travel to Oxford.
Had a 2 night stay at the Mecure hotel. Excellent location , staff warm and friendly. Would definitely return.
Breakfast option expensive so booked room only.
location, facilities, decoration all good
high quality room good bar & restaurant excellent value
not a huge fan of the toilet/bathroom area
location, comfort, excellent Staff, very helpful. Room service good, not overpriced.
paying for the car park.
Helpful and friendly staff. Great location for city centre and colleges. Ample safe parking at the rear of the hotel - albeit at a cost. Smart reception and lounge areas - great for a late morning coffee or afternoon tea. Very relaxing. Good efficient service and friendly.
Room a touch on the small side but to be fair we didn't spend much time in it apart from sleeping!
Room service is the worst I have ever experienced, they were knocking my door from 9am to check out to clean the room while check-out time was at 12pm. Unfriendly stuff at all, and they don't put shampoo and shower jell until you ask which is ridicules.
Location and helpfulness of staff
room was small and costly
Great room overlooking the Examination Halls. Not sure if I would be so happy if the room had overlooked the car park! Great Location and good breakfast! Friendly staff.
Bathroom facilities a little dated and worn....loose floor tiles and gunk around the shower glass. Room could do with a general clean up... net curtains a bit grubby etc and for nearly £200 a night expected a bit more. Call me picky but........
Location, breakfast, waiters and reception staff were excellent.
Housekeeping standard exceptionally poor. Didn't make the bed on any day, just pulled up the duvet. Didn't open curtains and didn't change towels even after asking. Sheets too small for bed and duvet torn. Room shabby .
Prior to arrival i read some negative feedback. I found my stay to be comfortable, the rooms beautiful, and staff and catering of a high standard - thanks
There was nothing that I disliked about my stay
Easy walk into shopping centre. Great views from our windows as we were in a corner room and overlooked two streets. Helpful reception staff.
The Bed was uncomfortable for me but my husband had no complaints. The bathroom was very shabby and desperately in need of a revamp the rest of the room looked very tired.
Upgraded to suite for free, ok standard
Poor cleaning routing? Leftover sandwich in fridge after previous guest
First impressions - the reception staff - really friendly and efficient. Bar/Lounge area, again efficient and pleasantly staffed. Restaurant was the same, very efficient and friendly staff and the Dinner - we had - and then Breakfast was really very good, from the comprehensive menu. Must also say - the beds were very comfortable!
Slight 'drop off' by the Housekeeping service in relation to bed making - on the second day - and the omission in not replenishing items from the room tea/coffee making facilities. Also not made aware that the room area we were allocated had no lift - acceptably due to historical reasons - but was a long climb, with case, to the top floor.

This review format; because a fair assessment mixes plus and minus. Our bartender, Spanish, with minimal English, was right out of "Fawlty Towers": hilarious, semi-competent; a highlight of our trip! No porter was available to help with luggage...the nice desk lady came and helped as best she could. The dinner was very good! This hotel was a huge contrast to our next stop; the modern, efficient, and antiseptic Holiday Inn at Stratford-upon-Avon. Sometimes friendly and a bit amateurish staff can make for a quite enjoyable stay! No; not a multi-starred hotel; more like staying with friends or family; but we left smiling and happy.
Lovely comfortable room with real character, beautifully clean with every possible facility needed.
Third floor - no lift!!
Location was great and parking facilities. Staff let us leave car after checkout and return later. Staff pleasant amd helpful. We did not have breakfast, think it overpriced. Ro om was clean and pleasant.
Food very expensive for what you got so would deter people eating there. Restaurant was very empty night we ate there.
location View from window On site parking Character of hotel
Superb location Friendly and helpful staff Good breakfast
Weak shower (top floor)
The lounge was nice, but I loved the food in the restaurant and the service in the restaurant was exceptional - they were very kind and attentive. I think, in fact, that the meal I had in the restaurant was the best I have ever had in England.
Room was so small I couldn't open my suitcase and when I asked for a taxi, the consierge did not ask me where I was going, but told the taxi driver I was going to the bus station, I was going to corpus Christi College (where I am writing from). Other than that, I enjoyed my stay.
