The hotel's central location is excellent, and we had a great view of the exam halls. Our room was comfortable and the breakfast and bar great.
Our bathroom had cracked and uneven tiles and a leaking sink. We mentioned this to the reception staff who said it was awaiting an upgrade.
Breakfast was awesome
Room Staff/kindness/friendliness Location Food Wine Atmosphere
Wi-fi kept dropping out Room key did not work all the time Room outlook was onto a brick wall
Easy access to our concert locations, Good late evening meals in library bar. Availability of parking, Friendly staff.
great central location wonderful staff - helpful and cheerful great breakfast and noce restaurant
room a little small and decoration tired
Good location, helpful reception staff. Good sized room.
Night time noise from the street. Slightly grumpy staff cleaning, changing rooms.
The room is too small and the bathroom is too noise.
Very good breakfast!
Location and breakfast very good .
No fan in the shower room /loo. Not a good smell when we arrived ! Too hot at night and difficult to open windows
The location was good and the breakfast good too.
The second floor rooms were boiling hot due to a break down of the air conditioning system. The room was shabby with crumbling ceiling and paint flaking off. The room needed a good painting and so did the very small bathroom. We had two awful nights sleep due to the room temperature even though we complained.
poor condition of room especially bathroom blinds didn't close room on street level very poor value for money charged twice for room on departure woman also checking out instantly got 20% off for her complaints nothing offered to us hard poached eggs and cold sausages at breakfast
The hotel has a central location on the High St which is close to many of Oxfords attractions and is comparatively quiet.
We stayed for 9 days, but the housekeeping staff quite often didn't make the beds and randomly changed the towels, sometimes only leaving one. When we used the cups and glasses they were not cleaned the next day. Workmen arrived early in the car park next to our bed and chatted noisily, without regard to the proximity of guests in the hotel. When we sat in the lounge waiting for some friends we were asked continually if we wanted something from the bar, and made to feel unwelcome. A refresher course in hospitality 101 is needed.
. We arrived at 4 a.m. and the night concierge could not be more kind and welcoming. The day staff also charming. Our room was nicely decorated, very confortable and with a lovely view not to mention the location which is so very convenient. We will certainly return..
No hair dryer in the bathroom.
Now on record with tip adviser
The location is good.
The air-conditioning system broke down and the table lamp and coffee making machine disappeared.
I felt very much at home in your hotel, the staff were very attentive and pleasant and made my stay enjoyable while I was visiting my husband in hospital. An obviously well positioned hotel, noisy outside, which you would expect being right in the city centre.
Obviously as the hotel is due a refurbishment the decoration of bedrooms and corridors are not up to scratch, nevertheless the bedroom was comfortable, clean and the bathroom and little extras were appreciated. I had a premier room, the head receptionist Kate did everything to secure me an extra night and make sure my stay was good. The young chef lady and Spanish waiter were good at their jobs and the vegetarian bar snacks I had were well presented and tasty which I commended her on. I look forward to spending another few days in the future with my husband at the Eastgate. My total bill for my 4 nights came to just under £1000, which is excessive for one person, Oxford prices are certainly high. It made being near so as to visit my husband in hospital an expensive procedure, but the staff cannot help that of course and that is the reason I have put "fair" in my rating
Special thanks to the staff for their professionalism, and also for sorting out the TV, with particular respect to the subtitling facility. In this context, best hotel stay ever.
Situation of hotel within old Oxford. Breakfast was top quality. Loved the comfortable relaxing area with bar..... I was Very satisfied with most things .......and will definitely take students there next year.
The fridge in my room was not working. Also found it difficult to flush the toilet.
I don't think there is any other thing to add. It's a fantastic place to stay on holidays.
There is nothing I dislike.
Friendly efficient staff; good location; nice breakfast
Shocked by the condition of the room - a broken blind; cobwebs. Yet over £200 a night!
Safe and clean and central
Staff did not know areas of interest in and around oxford
Location, good service, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast at a reasonable price.
Rooms a bit tired, no TV sports channels in public or other rooms, having to pay for parking as room rates are quite high for hotel of this quality.
location great and parking a bonus, although not clear when booking that you had to pay for this.
breakfast was poor sign for hotel was not clear enough, difficult to find.
Location. Quality of food. General service
Slow booking in process with system advised as new. No tomato juice at bar
