Eaton Hotel Non Smoking29-31 City Road, CH1 3AE Chester (Show map) Good, Score from 170 reviews“Excellent location, friendly staff, very clean, good view of canal, nice bar in the cellar, would I stay there - yes”
Mark,
Manchester
Right in the very heart of the city and with some limited secure parking, the Eaton Hotel is a great base for your visit to Chester. The hotel’s excellent location means that there are many bars and restaurants nearby and the city’s main shops are just a 5 minute walk away. Limited secure parking is available at the rear of the hotel, free of charge, and free parking is available overnight on City Road, right outside the hotel, until 10am. The hotel is family owned by Mr and Mrs Swift, whose aim is to provide high standards of accommodations and services in a relaxed and friendly environment. Helped by an excellent team of staff, you will find nothing is too much trouble. If you are looking for centrally-located accommodations without the high prices of the larger hotels, but with professional, personal service, you have found the right place. Hotel Rooms: 16

It was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. It was dirty, hot, smelled of stale smoke and the bed was uncomfortable beyond belief.

Location I expected free parking but it was not available. I don't think this should be mentioned in description. Local parking is expensive. Room was very small.

Never anyone in reception to welcome guests. Need to ring bell when staff arrived less than warm and welcoming. Had to find our own way to room. Reported TV not working but nothing was done. Reported various bulbs kept blowing/fusing, nothing done. Room lighting very poor. Water merely trickled from the tap and shower. Staff in kitchen were the only helpful folk we met.

Our room was very comfortable, very clean and overlooking the canal it was very quiet and peaceful.Breakfast was of high quality and more than sustantial. All staff were cheery, helpful and most convivial. I think the car parking is misleading. There seems to be room for no more than 2 or 3 cars at best.We were there on a weekend and it was full and I was forced to pay £10.40 for two days parking at the railway station. The provision of free parking was one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel.

Very reasonably priced and generally clean. Minor thing - the plug hole and surrounding area could have been cleaner.

Cosy room, bath room in good condition, good breakfast The heating in the room was very hot and couldn't be turned down or off. The staff knew about the problem but couldn't do anything.

Value for money. Clean, comfortable but not luxurious. Bedding and towels clean, Staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast included in the price. Didn't expect 5 star luxury for the money we paid. Second time we have been to this hotel and if we come to Chester again, will have no hesitation in booking this hotel. Rooms could do with being remodernised and heating system needs to be replaced. As previous mentioned, didn't expect luxury. We got what we paid for.

The location on the canal side was good and conveniently located for other restaurants as well without going into the centre which was only 5 minutes walk anyway. The Hotel's bar is very nicely done and had a great atmosphere on New Years Eve. The hotel reception is pleasant and welcoming. The price of £65.00 was decent for a city centre hotel on New Years Eve. The rooms are not wow but are clean and tidy and good enough for what we wanted for a one night stay. Our room was next to a room that we later found out was not in use due to a problem with the electric flushing system but this caused us to be awake very early on and constantly made a noise which resulted in us being very tired. The hotel did take our complaint on board in a positive manner when we told them of our issue with the room. The breakfast service was not the best and they ran out of a lot of things so when the breakfast finally came it looked very poor and took ages to get more toast. It was also not the warmest but edible.

The staff upon arrivel were 1st class as was the breakfast staff, very coutreous. The room was a bit dated. Overall the room & service was good value for money. The only comment I can make about the hotel with a negative take was the dated furnitre in the bedroom.

The receptionist was efficient and the waitress in the morning was friendly. The lift worked and was clean. Breakfast in the morning was ok. The twin room we stayed in was very small and was overbearingly hot on arrival. We had to ask the receptionist to turn it down as there was no facility to turn the radiator down or off in the room itself. It was also not possible to open the window. The taps on the sink were loose and the mirror on the dressing table fell apart when my wife tried to adjust it when trying to put on make-up.

The location was very good and it was a nice late drink and dance in the cellar bar downstairs. The rooms were very small and dark. We had a dressing table and stool by the side of the bed which served no purpose as there wasn,t enough room to pull the stool out.Not clean enough one of my friends said gunge hung from her tap when she turned it on. We were all dissapointed with the breakfast service.
