Only the location
Heating stuck on all day and night so roasting when in the rooms, stains and crust on the 1950s sheets bathroom half finished being built poorly maintained rooms windows not fitted properly so lots of noise from outside
location very clean bed quiet room overlooking canal breakfast
lights on timer switches
The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was lovely. Location was good. Staff friendly enough.
The hotel is very small, avoid it if you suffer from claustrophobia as the rooms are small. The hotel is tired and needs refurbishment, broken tiles in the ensuite etc. I thought the hotel was over priced as it was more of a bed and breakfast, not really a hotel.
Position and breakfast
Hole in the bed linen and shower did not work!
Location, breakfast, warm, clean and friendly staff
Shower area needs updating
City centre location
Although the hotel was clean and the staff were pleasant, the hotel, in parts, needs a revamp to bring it up to date. For example, our bedroom looked like it hadn't been decorated for a while.
Very close to the station and only a short walk to the city centre. Nice staff - very helpful. Good breakfast in the morning. Have stayed a couple of times before and not disappointed.
Good location. Bed linen was clean.
Advertised on booking.com as having own parking, which it didn't. Rooms were shabby. Shower didn't get hot and wouldn't turn off, locks on door didn't work - had to get staff to open. Shower and lock issue were known to staff. Temperature in room unbearable, had to sleep with window open despite December weather!
Friendly staff, great location, warm room and shower, good breakfast.
Only one power point behind tv so had to unplug tv to plug in kettle, hair straighteners etc. Basically could only have one appliance on at a time.
Location was nice
Was a bit rough
clean room ,comfy bed on suite , hot breakfast was ok and plenty of other choices
couldn,t turn heating down so opened a window. shower not very good water flow but did manage to shower
Friendly and helpful staff. Superb location near the station, bars and restaurants and a few minutes from the town centre. Fantastic spacious room overlooking the water. Quirkiness. Exceptional value for money compared to chains.
I stay in 3 -4 (ideally independent)hotels every week and I have never been given a tv remote control when I check in 'as people take them'. Bad diy work in evidence. Clean, but poor attention to detail, I.E., empty packaging and items left in drawers by previous guests. Breakfast not starting until 7.30, which is too late for business people.
Friendly welcome. Nicely furnished room (no. 1) and small modern bathroom. Clean and quiet. Water hot.
Room cold when I arrived. Shower didn't work (so I had a bath instead).
The location was very good; the room was clean and away from the bar so it was quiet; the bed was comfortable
No parking and finding some was a challenge; the room was tiny; the kettle was missing; the shower was absolutely useless - it was consistently cold; the breakfast staff were very pleasant but not very competent and got several orders wrong
Location Friendliness of staff
Tv not working, radiator stuck on with no control valves, toilet could only be flushed by me as it was a push button and would not flush properly, but overall this was a shabby hotel desperately in need of a refurb.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The location to the station and city is excellent. The area around the hotel is very nice being next to the canal. Most of the hotel is lovely with lots of character especially the bar and the Canalside room where I had breakfast as it overlooks the canal.
The room itself was very small and decor very dated. The hotel looks from outside like it could be quite a stylish boutique hotel, unfortunately despite the rest of the hotel being very nice it was not reflected in the room. Two of the lights did not work leaving the room almost dark. One of the electric sockets was broken. And more importantly as a single occupant I was very concerned that I could not lock the door..... It took several attempts and I didn't feel confident that it was secure. I did try to convey these concerns to a member of staff the following morning as I also wanted to leave my case there whilst I attended a seminar however no-one came to reception when I rang the bell. Shame because the hotel has massive potential.......
Good location close to station and city centre. Friendly staff.
Booked a twin room well in advance but on arrival was allocated a double bed room. When I asked why, I was told that there were no twin rooms available. Very disappointed that I had not been informed of this prior to arrival, as I would have cancelled the booking and would have made other arrangements to book a twin room.
The rooms were quiet considering it was by a main road. The breakfast was very nice and it was a good selection.
Lovely location and surroundings. Very comfortable bedroom.
Did not seem to be able to turn the radiator off (I don't like hot bedrooms)
Hotel was a little dated and in need of te decoration
Friendly- budget hotel... Excellent location... Had stayed there on my own a few years ago, this time my friend was with me, she was quite impressed with the size of the room & bed.. We had an individual rooms overnight... Will definitely come back there again....
The staff were very friendly and very accommodating. Allowed us to leave our bags in reception before check in and after check out. Breakfast area was nice and modern.
The radiator in our room (14) was next to the bed and was pumping out heat all day and most of the night - there were no caps on to turn it down and staff couldn't help as it was on a timer! Room was a bit dated.
location, this is my 2nd visit to this hotel but will use again next year
tv not working ,radio clock not working ,bed side light not working.......complicated access to room ,car parking 10 min walk away.
