This independent family-owned hotel provides a peaceful location just outside Chester's historic center, yet only a 10-minute walk from the center of the city’s amenities and attractions.
Score from 594 reviews Very good
The staff were very friendly breakfast was very nice and set us up for the day.It was very close to town centre yet very quite .Plenty of places to eat near hotel.
The rooms were suitable but do need updating . I went with a group most of them were quite happy but a couple had watch a TV programme and had a good look and thought rooms could have been a bit cleaner.
Location Value for money Breakfast very good Welcoming staff Allowed us to leave bags until time to leave
a little dated sensor lighting on stairs
Much better than I expected for the money. Breakfast took a long time coming ( full english)but all fresh and scummy. Plenty of other choice too.
No reception on Sunday morning when keys need to be handed in.
It is always a pleasure to stay at The Eaton. Despite some renovation work taking place during my stay,it did not affect the comfort of my stay at all. 5 stars as always. Great location too.
good cheap hotel
早餐不錯，位置還可。 the breakfast is good.
The quit is unbelievable old, not very clean, have a hole! 棉被非常老舊，感覺髒髒的，有洞!
Friendly staff central location
A bit dark Furniture a bit dated
Location. Breakfast staff friendly.
Hotel was run down with work renovations taking place. Breakfast area was covered in dust sheets. Couldn't even get a bottle of water!!
Good English breakfast, nice staff, very good location near the canal (7 mins walk to Northgate street), perfect WiFi
worse bathroom, but still sufficient
Dirty room, stains coming through disgusting ceiling tiles, dirty walls dirty carpet, grubby blankets on bed! Do I need to go on!
Breakfast very good Close to City Centre
Bathroom: sink tap twivelled round, large towel rail broken small rail was rusty, no shower curtain, no bath mat on the 1st day. Carpet in bedroom not vacumed. Window did not shut fully and no double glazing so very noisey at times. TV on side wall so you could not watch from the bed
the lady was lovely we asked to change room and she did straight away
Location was great staff very helpful breakfast nice thanks c u all soon
No outside seating
Location, layout and facilities where great for the price
The shower was pretty much unusable, so had to resort to the fun size bath. If they could fix that it would be great value for money
Friendly staff and good breakfast.
Shower in room had a faulty temp control and bathroom light did'nt work.
Friendly staff good location
No parking, but advertised parking. Apparently 3 spaces for staff only. The only reason Ed chose this hotel which was not very competitively priced was for parking !
The room was excellent, good size and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was very nice and plenty of it - full English, toast, cereal, juice tea / coffee - all you could ask for. The location for us was excellent, about a 5 minute walk to the city centre. For value for money you couldn't really ask for more - £80-00 for 2 nights. The staff were friendly and helpful albeit we didn't see a lot of them apart from breakfast but that for me is what I want. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
Before I enter this I should say that there was nothing that I found unacceptable and our stay was very, very good. However, a couple of points for those fussy ones amongst you. There was no parking BUT I knew that when I booked so no complaints and there was a car park not too far away and free car parking for an hour at a time in the road outside (for those who moan about no parking find out before hand and then if it's an issue don't book.) There were a couple of things in the room that were broken - e.g. the towel rail was held on by masking tape - but for me that just added to the charm of the hotel. The décor is a bit tired but I didn't go to admire the décor and as I said the room was a very good size and for £40-00 per night it would be churlish to complain.
Location and price were good. Included breakfast and would stay again!
Television had no signal and the electrical socket needed fixing up. Bathroom light didn't work.
Perfect for what we wanted which was a bed for the night after the races
location surrounded by eating places and pubs close to the canal much better after the current refurbishment is finished
no parking - cost £24 for 2 days parking on nearest ncp
Within short walking distance of city centre Good breakfast Comfortable room Value for money Obliging staff - happy to call a taxi Opposite a very nice Indian restaurant
There was nothing I didn't like, as for £35 a night I wasn't expecting the Ritz.
No shower curtain, rusty chrome in bathroom
Excellent value for money considering location and breakfast included
Images/photo's of the hotel on Booking.com website made the hotel look like a classy, period property, which it certainly wasn't, similarly the impression was that there was an outside terrace for breakfast, which also wasn't the case. Breakfast was poor, limited choicem no natural yogurts etc etc and the availability of parking close by was very limited.
Chosen for proximity to the railway station it is a reasonable option for rail travellers. Canalside location gives access to a good selection of pubs and restaurants.
The whole place was rather down at heel and it is surprising that it rates a 2 star classification. The first room we were offered didn't have working lights in the bathroom and the replacement was small and cramped. Windows were painted shut so not possible to open to get air overnight. Wi-Fi didn't reach the 2nd floor.
