Score from 558 reviews Very good
The bath wouldn't fit an adult in. It was half the size of a normal bath. There was pubic hair all over the mattress under the sheets. The whole place had a strange, rancid smell.
I stayed there for a stag weekend next time I'm bringing my wife to stay there
The breakfast could be a little bit big
Unfussy - fine for the price
Bathroom light problem but not sure who to tell
the breakfast was good and there was plenty of tea and milk in the room.
the room smelled seriously of damp and clearly there had been a leak in the room as some point judging by the staining on the carpet. the mattress was old and lumpy and the bathroom was not very clean - dust and dirt all along the skirting, radiator and around the sink cupboard. Couldn't work the TV
staff very helpful and friendly .room very comfortable. Food was lovely highly recommend this hotel
not so much dislike as it was obvious that this hotel was in transition fro m an old load of rubish to a smart canal side hotel They seem to be managing quite well.
Great location, close to station, canal side walk, short walk to Grosvenor Park and town centre. Nice room, very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good. Couldn't ask for more! Absolute great value!
Location was excellent, cheap prices, nice breakfast, good hosts, clean room
Bed too small, bar was closed for renovation which isn't advertised online we have stayed before and the bar and entertainment was excellent please reopen ASAP
Mainly clean, friendly staff, close to the city centre.Plenty of towels.Good value for money.Ok for a very short stay.
Grouting grubby in the bathroom, television mounted at awkward angle, hard bed, fixtures and fittings hanging off e.g wobbly tap and towel rail held on with tape!Given front room so it was incredibly noisy late at night/early morning as hotel is set on the main road.Wouldn't recommend this particular room. Stated parking available but this is owned by the council not the hotel and is only available between 6pm and 8am.
Position great local to all shops and bars
Canal side bar closed.room windows didn't work properly
The ladies at breakfast were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
The very small twin room, where we could not open the windows and it was so hot we could not sleep. In addition the noise was unbearable. We stayed here exactly a year ago, enjoyed it and decided to stay again. Unfortunately the downstairs bar was also closed and nothing seemed the same
Downstairs bar and location of the hotel.
Nothing negative to say
Location was good handy near train station, and city center, food was good
could be slightly noisy at night due to bathroom fans coming on all hours because they auto detect the guests, but i guess they have too so they save power
good value for money. staff were very helpfull. nice selection for breakfast.
The location is good. There are pleasant bars and restaurants nearby and the city centre is only 10 minutes walk away.
This hotel was grubby and in need of much maintenance, not at all the impression one gets from the photos. The management wish you to report problems in order for you to enjoy your stay. I did but no action was taken. The bathroom light did not work.(It had no natural light with the door closed). A repair was promised but it wasn't even attempted. In the end I fixed it myself but the light was still malfunctioning when we left. On the other hand our money was taken within 5 minutes of our arrival. The room was small, stuffy and in need of repainting. The windows were v dirty and difficult to open : (secondary glazing tracks clogged with dirt). There were cracked tiles in the bathroom, badly applied filler and the cover for the TV aerial was falling away from the wall. The carpet had not been well cleaned. A bag of rubbish was left in the lift for the first 12 hours of our stay. At breakfast my shirt stuck to the table and the gloomy breakfast room appeared to be undergoing a refurbishment which had ground to a halt. The breakfast, the furniture in the room and the bed were OK. There were other signs of neglect e.g. the cracked floor tiles in the hotel entrance and the badly chipped milk jug. I don't like complaining but I stay in a lot of budget accommodation and this compares badly.
The staff were very friendly and the hotel is in a great location, it's a shame the downstairs bar was being refurbished as it is a great spot on the side of the canal. We would come again.
Not advised that hotel above a bar & opposite loud/ lively night club and other young bars.Couldn't open windows as room hot & stuffy and cracked dirty panes. But open window allowed noise. Bathroom lighting not working & mould on ill fitting shower door. Too much furniture made room over cramped & difficult to move around in. Towels provided old and very worn.
Location convenient Good value
Dirty, sticky stained floor in rooms Bed SO saggy I had to put a pillow in the hole No hot water So loud on Saturday night there was no sleeping until pubs closed Some of ugliest art ever seen No phone in rooms Unsafe window in one room...off its track, had to block it shut with broken mirror for safety.
The location in the city centre and alongside the canal
The beds and bedding are in need of replacement.
Close to station but not far from the centre.
No parking. No shower wall, dirty carpet, noisy room but they changed it for us. Very unfriendly reception. Curtains broken. Towel rain fell off the wall....
Staff very pleasant breakfast very good. Bath room very clean.Great location for city and walks along the canel
Bed not to comfortable.
Hotel does not live up to its advertisement. Bar with no beer. Breakfast was half an hour late one day. Breakfast was short of some food eg Mushrooms, Sausages, black pudding. Sauce was not nice. Milk was off. I paid £70.00 per night for a room that was not at its best, required decorating and repairing; shower head was dirty. Other guests paid considerably lower, I asked.
location. bag storage facility.
poor room, not clean, stains on bed covers. elastic bands holding the shower head. no hot water at any time during the stay. shower dripped all night. would have aborted and gone home had there been a late train. last straw was false finger nail in glass of juice at breakfast!
Cosy, clean and friendly.
