Central location. Excellent hot breakfast. Good bar. The room was very well designed and had all the basic items you would expect. The staff were very efficient and helpfull. The price paid was very competitive and having stayed in other Holiday Inn's, I knew what to expect and got it.

The location of the hotel is excellent The staff is efficient but not flexible. I saw guests checking out 8am onwards but they did not provide us and early check-in till 1 pm. Breakfast options are very limited. One of my main reasons for booking this hotel was the complimentary breakfast. But they have limited options

Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room. Ideal location for theatre and restaurants. Reasonable cost. Only downside is the breakfast. The room itself is too small for all the visitors and rather dangerous when trying to manoeuvre round the tables with a hot drink in your hand. I had a job finding the butter, never saw any yoghurts or cheeses, my morning roll was hard, and there were no crusty rolls. You are now serving a limited cooked breakfast which my husband enjoyed but we would have preferred a good continental breakfast. However this breakfast food was much better than the holiday inn express in Theatreland Glasgow where the egg was powdery and the sausages mush.

Easy access to the city, only 5-10 minutes walk to princes st and George st. Staff were lovely and helpful. Quite basic but all you need for a weekend away. Great value for money Our room was right on the car park so people could easily see in. The curtains had to be shut all the time. Not a big deal though!

It was very close to the city centre so was perfect for our city break together. The staff were very helpful and the room was the best i've ever seen. Very large room, great shower and the breakfast was great. We are definately going back to stay in this hotel if we visit edinburgh again.

Good value and great location. Nice breakfast Parking overly expensive, given room in basement. Room itself was fine but not great looking out a window in central Edinburgh only to see bins and a car park

I really enjoyed the location of the Hotel. Close to all amenities. The room was spacious and the atmosphere relaxed and comfortable. The staff were all very helpful and I liked the way that the bar etc was closed to any non residents.

The location of this hotel couldn't be better and I would recommend to anyone and shall. All the main attractions in the city centre are minutes walk away or there is easy access to the train station and bus stops. The room was very clean and spacious with a large TV and fantastic, clean shower and toilet. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and breakfast in the morning was delicious. Considering the facilities and the location this is a great deal hotel and we hope to return soon.

The price was good at £197 STG for 4 nights, breakfast included. I did not like the fact that the 'imprinted' £320 STG on my credit card, £30 extra per night in case we damaged the room or used additional services from the hotel. I queried this at the time and it was explained to me that this would not go through my card. It was not debited from my card but it did show as a pending payment which has the same effect as being debited. Basically I they took £120 of my spending money for the 4 days on the basis that I might spend something. I complained and they reversed it but this took 2 days and the pending payment only disappeared after I arrived home. Very very slow to apologise.

The hotel is a modern one but, being housed in an old building, has more character than other Holiday Inns. The bar was a pleasant place to relax after the end of a day's sightseeing in the city - most places were within walking distance. The self-service breakfast was better than expected, and free newspapers were readily available. On arriving in Picardy Place, the hotel was at first difficult to spot as the only indication is a relatively small name sign by the entrance (a local authority planning requirement, maybe?)
